Mountain climbing
The Southern Alps is a taller mountain range in New Zealand. It runs through the central and western parts of the South Island. The west slope is steep and straight to the coast. The east slope is relatively gentle, with broad foothills and hills, and gradually descends into the Canterbury Plain. Many high mountains are covered with snow all year round, and there are more than 360 glaciers, of which the Tasman Glacier, which is 28.9 kilometers long on the east side of Mount Cook, is more famous. The mountainous scenery is magnificent, and there are many national parks and ski resorts. It is one of the important tourist areas. There are Lake Nelson National Park and Arthur's Pass National Park in the north, Western National Park and Mount Cook National Park in the middle, and Aspollin National Park in the south.
