#myhiddengems "Hub Ho Hin" is an old rice mill in the old town of Songkhla, located on Nakorn Nok Road. The building is painted in red color with a classic atmosphere. In the past, an economy in "Songkhla City" was driven by many Chinese families, that's why there is a red rice mill building here. The name of the mill is “Hub Ho Hin” which is a Hokkien language, meaning unity, harmony, and prosperity. During World War II, Japan occupied Songkhla and used this red mill as a warehouse for medical supplies. After the war, the rice mill business was discontinued and converted to a warehouse to store rubber for export, and fishing port. Come to Songkhla, there is traditional Chinese food to recommend at Tae Hiang Iew restaurant with many delicious dishes such as delicious green mango salad, a little sour, a little sweet, crunchy with fresh green mango, eat with clear soup with pork and plum juice, this dish has a slightly sour taste from the soup, minced pork that is perfectly seasoned, followed by fried sea bass with fish sauce, delicious and up to standard, if you have a chance you must go and eat, welcome guests and be even more impressed #This content is of quality.

Although gentrification of the old Chinese shop house is beginning, it has not gone as far as in Phuket so the atmosphere is far more authentic. There are good, cheap restaurants everywhere but one unmissable visit (free) must be to the town's small city museum, lodged in the grounds of a perfectly maintained old monastery. #bucketlistreboot It is relaxing to take a walk along the narrow streets and small alleys of this old town. Old Songkhla Town, to us, is a charming heritage enclave consisting of old Chinese-style shophouses. What a delight to discover artistic mural pieces on street corners and unexpected places... While some of the buildings have been turned into colourful cafes, they still maintain their traditional charms. As we strolled along, we had the opportunity to observe and admire the unique architecture of a bygone era. Plentiful decorative lush green plants in pots in front of most shophouses add to the overall artistic feeling of this place. The old town is located near to the sea. There is even a harbour nearby. Ban Nakhon Nai Museum with free admission is also located in the vicinity. There are numerous Chinese temples as well as a mosque in this town, co-existing in harmony.

Songkhla old town is more relaxed and quite compare to hai yai town..nearer to the beach and sea.... would prefer to choose Songkhla rather than Haiyai..due too much commercialise.. it is a fantastic little old town you can walk around in the morning or late afternoon it is great place to shoot nice photos and also nice cafe & ice cream shops it is a must to visit! you will not regret if you visit this place..
