[Kanagawa Prefecture] Sojiji Temple, the head temple of the Soto sect, located in Tsurumi and home to many cultural assets
Sojiji Temple in Tsurumi, Kanagawa Prefecture
This temple, located in Tsurumi Ward, halfway between Kawasaki and Yokohama, is the head temple of the Soto sect and its official name is Shodake-san Sojiji Temple.
It was originally a Kannon-do temple in Wajima City, Ishikawa Prefecture, but it was burned down by fire and moved to its current location in Tsurumi.
The old site in Wajima City, Ishikawa Prefecture was rebuilt and became a branch temple of the head temple Sojiji Temple.
The first thing that surprised me when I visited was the size of the temple grounds...
It was so vast that I was surprised.
After passing through the Sanmon gate, there were many temple facilities such as the Buddha hall, the Daiso-do, and the Daiso-do, and before I knew it, I had been there for over an hour and a half.
Among them, the Daiso-do is so large that you can't help but look up, and it is said to be used as a place for memorial service training, so when you go inside, you will see a large hall. It was filled with a solemn atmosphere, and I felt on edge ✊
Many registered tangible cultural properties remain, such as the "Hyakuken Corridor" that is about 164 meters long and separates the outer garden from the inner garden, and the "bell tower" that boasts outstanding structural beauty, so you can relax and feel the history 😌

In the well I found while walking around, there was a frog 🐸
