It's time to consider a renovation, Sofitel Galaxy Nanjing
The Accor hotels in Nanjing are generally in cooperation with the owner Suning, and their advantages and disadvantages are clear at a glance. The location is good, but they are in need of repair due to age.
This Sofitel is particularly suitable for routine business travel or for those visiting Nanjing for the first time. If one does not have high requirements for accommodation and spends most of the day outside, the hotel only needs to provide breakfast and a peaceful night's sleep. Its advantage lies in its location at the center of the old city district, not far from any popular destinations, and with complete surrounding facilities and numerous eateries.
The hotel lobby appears to have been renovated in recent years, exquisite and elegant, with a strong French atmosphere. Other spaces, including the rooms, seem somewhat outdated or damaged, and should not be scrutinized too closely, otherwise, it may lead to much dissatisfaction. Fortunately, the old hotel has rich operational experience and knows how to empathize with customers, so the service level is still good, especially the staff at the executive lounge, who are enthusiastic and considerate, making guests feel at home. The lounge offers simple afternoon tea and evening happy hour, both of which I tried, and as always, the dessert and cake-making capabilities of the French hotel group are trustworthy.
They are quite friendly to Platinum members, with a slight upgrade in room type. They also offer welcome fruit and a double breakfast. The room is square and spacious, which at the same size would be made into a suite at the Andaz Nanjing. The entire outer side is a floor-to-ceiling glass window, and since the building where the hotel is located is one of the few high-rise buildings in the area, it offers a great overlooking angle to view most of Jinling City, it's just a pity that the weather was not cooperative, with fog halving the view.
The breakfast standard the next day was not impressive, although there were some local specialties that barely held up the scene, the duck blood vermicelli soup looked authentic, but the overall pre-made food was flying all over the place, showing a lack of sincerity. The swimming pool and corridor area are highlights, beautiful at dawn and dusk, almost deserted on weekdays, with the potential to be an internet sensation.
Overall, it's plain and unremarkable, not for those who are detail-oriented.
