Sofitel Lyon: The Unique Charm of an Old Hotel
Sofitel Lyon: The Unique Charm of an Old Hotel
During my trip to Lyon, France, I chose to stay at the Sofitel Hotel. Upon arrival, the hotel didn't make a great first impression. The space was a bit old and seemed to bear the marks of time.
However, after checking in, I discovered many delightful details. The bed and sofa were extremely comfortable, especially the sofa in picture 6, which seemed to dispel the fatigue of the journey as soon as I lay down. Many of the panels and handles in the hotel were made of stainless steel and were polished to a shine, adding a touch of understated sophistication to the old environment. Some of the wallpaper was made of three-dimensional fabric, a unique material that added a different texture and artistic atmosphere to the room. The gauze curtains that were always drawn created a hazy beauty, as if the room was veiled in mystery. The inexplicably placed picture frames, the ones facing the bed, next to the full-length mirror in the wardrobe, next to the bathroom mirror, and near the mirror in the public elevator area, including the one next to the mirror with a French style, all seemed like carefully designed art corners.
Staying here was quite comfortable overall. The surrounding environment was even more attractive, and going for a walk was like going on an exploration trip. Walking north, I arrived at Place Bellecour, which was full of the unique charm of old Lyon. Walking south, I arrived at the Museum of Textiles and Decorative Arts, where I could feel a strong artistic atmosphere. Walking about a kilometer to the west, I found myself among large Roman buildings, and buildings like the opera house were amazing. Across the Rhone River was the University of Lyon II. Walking around the city, I could deeply feel the rich historical and cultural heritage of Lyon. This experience of staying at the Sofitel Hotel and exploring the surrounding area was truly an unforgettable travel experience.

Sofitel Lyon: Aged but renewed.
Sofitel Lyon: Aged but renewed
When I stepped into the Sofitel Lyon, the old space layout bluntly declared its long history. But soon, I found many moving places under this old and broken shell.
First of all, the bed and sofa in the room are comfortable havens. The bed is like a gentle embrace, and the sofa, especially the one in Figure 6, seems to exist to fit the body curve. Sitting and lying on it, the fatigue of the day is instantly disintegrated. Wherever you look, those stainless steel panels and handles, they shine, as if they are telling the hotel's adherence to quality, although they have gone through the years, they are still bright and new. The three-dimensional fabric design on the wallpaper is a unique touch and visual enjoyment. Touching with your fingers, you can feel the meticulous craftsmanship. The pulled down screen is like a light gauze, giving the room a poetic hazy beauty. The placement of the picture frame is also very clever, whether it is the picture frame facing the bed, or the full-length mirror in the wardrobe, or the washbasin mirror and the public area elevator mirror, like a star of art, lighting up the space.
The hotel's location is even more unique. From here, the surrounding exploration journey is full of surprises. Walking north, Place Bellecour is close at hand, which is a gathering place for the charm of the old city. Going south, the Museum of Textiles and Decorative Arts is waiting for me to unveil its mysterious veil. About one kilometer to the west, the opera house and other large Roman buildings are in sight, which is a grand narrative of history. The University of Lyon II across the Rhone River adds a sense of academic tranquility to this area. This journey at the Sofitel Lyon Hotel is like a wonderful adventure intertwined with old times and new experiences.
📍 Sofitel Lyon Bellecour, 20 Quai Gailleton, Lyon, France
Bonjour, travel enthusiasts! Let's talk about the Sofitel Lyon Bellecour, where I recently spent a dreamy 3 nights. Nestled just a hop away from the vibrant Place Bellecour, this hotel is your perfect base to explore Lyon's charm, with cafes and bistros just around the corner. 🥐☕
The rooms may whisper vintage vibes, but they come with a daily restocked complimentary minibar—think fizzy cola, juicy fruit drinks, and tasty nibbles. While the aircon plays hide and seek in summer, the beds are a haven of comfort, and those pillows? Like sleeping on clouds! 😴🛌
The staff? Absolute gems! They're the kind of people who make you feel like royalty, from storing your luggage to hailing your ride. And while the decor could use a refresh, the soft towels and quality toiletries add a touch of luxe. The view at dawn is a stunner, even if the curtains are a bit of a puzzle. 🌅🛀
Pro tip: The 24-hour room service might take a break, so keep that in mind for late-night cravings. And for a short stay, it's a delightful spot. 💼🍽
