Putting aside the internet celebrity filter, this is a purely original guide to Chengdu, no nonsense!
After reading too many "Internet celebrity filtered articles" and checking in at too many "Internet celebrity check-in spots", you will find that behind those places and foods beautified by filters, there are full of falsehoods and lies. ❌
Although traveling in an unfamiliar city requires the "experience" of experienced people, it also requires careful identification. ❗️
This article records a four-day and three-day trip to Chengdu by a family of three on New Year’s Day. We use our personal experiences to share some real travel experiences, which may hurt some fragile hearts, but we still sincerely want to tell the stories behind the filters to the sisters who are going to Chengdu for travel.
🚗Itinerary[Congratulate]
Chengdu's scenic spots are relatively concentrated, and with its well-developed transportation infrastructure, it is not difficult to visit three or four attractions in one day.
We checked in at almost all of the popular check-in spots mentioned in online guides, and these real travel experiences are for your reference. (This is just my personal opinion, please avoid me if you are a nitpicker)
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Chunxi Road Pedestrian Street: There are many brand stores to visit on both sides of the criss-crossing roads. Whether it's night photography or daytime strolling, it's quite interesting.
⭐️⭐️⭐️IFS Taikoo Li: The feeling here is a bit like Beijing’s Wangfujing Pedestrian Street, with some high-end brand stores and shopping malls. Friends who want to take photos with the wall-climbing panda 🐼 can go and check in. The Panda Head is on the 7th floor of the shopping mall. It is a small outdoor square with a Chengdu internet celebrity wall. The colorful purple is very photogenic.
⭐️⭐️Jiuyan Bridge: Known as the "Bar Street", the night view is good for photographing, but it is not very playable. Of course, sisters 👯♀️ who want to sit down and listen to folk songs 🎵 can go and check it out 👀.
ps: After passing the tower of Jiuyan Bridge, there will be many Monkey King dolls pulling children to take pictures📷. Parents must protect their children❗️The dolls are really violent and almost scared the children to tears. ⚠️The doll let go only after the father scolded him angrily! Really angry 💢
⭐️⭐️⭐️Giant Panda Base: Those who like to see the national treasure giant pandas can go there without worry, and it is recommended to check in early in the morning. We arrived at noon, and many giant pandas were sleeping or resting in their houses. We only saw less than ten of them after a whole afternoon of sightseeing, which was a bit disappointing.
Those who wanted to see the flowers had to queue up in a very long line, so I had no choice but to give up. The entire scenic area covers a large area, so if you are super able to walk, I sincerely recommend buying a shuttle ticket. Otherwise, you still have to walk a lot when taking the bus, not to mention hiking.
⭐️⭐️Dongjiao Memory: It is similar to the 798 Art Park in Beijing, with many landmarks suitable for taking photos and checking in, but I feel that the visitability is average.
⭐️⭐️Kuanzhai Alley: It is similar to Nanluoguxiang in Beijing, but the alley is very shallow and you will reach the end after walking for a while. And the food isn’t as delicious as the one in Nanluoguxiang. I visited the internet celebrity grandpa’s shop and bought a red panda. After comparing the prices with several nearby shops, I found the prices to be quite friendly.
⭐️Wenshu Temple: Apart from the so-called internet-famous wall where you can take photos📷, the visitability is really average. You need to queue up to read the popular words "福" on the red wall, which is not a good experience.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Jinli: An ancient market that is fun to visit, and it is very photogenic to check in at night. There are many snacks on both sides of the ancient street. The sugar-coated fruits are recommended. There are also free performances in the evening, but there are too many people and there is no place to stand, so the experience will be weakened.
There are free snacks and fruit teas for tasting on both sides of the road. The shop assistants give them to tourists for free and are friendly, without forcing you to buy anything. It is also a very unique cultural landscape. Puerarin is delicious (seems to be a specialty of Guangxi?)
⭐️Kuixinglou Street: I really don’t want to give my heart to you! I trusted the recommendation of an internet celebrity for an affordable food street and came here to eat some snacks, but ended up failing repeatedly. The pot chicken in a certain store had three skewers and a small bamboo shoot. It was the most disappointing shopping experience during my travels in the past few days. The taste was also average. I forgot the name of the store, but the waitress was a lady wearing glasses.
The whole street is very short and there aren't many delicious foods. There's only one ice jelly restaurant with reasonable prices. As for the others... which internet celebrity lady recommended them? Can you not cheat people...
⭐️⭐️⭐️Chengdu Museum: It’s quite fun to visit. I checked in the Sanxingdui masks and some interesting pottery figurines, which were very interesting.
There are also art galleries and science and technology museums around the museum, which can be arranged for children who have plenty of time.
🫕 Food:
After eating hot pot and snacks in Chengdu, I feel that I prefer the snacks. Guokui (highly recommended, crispy and delicious, with a strong peppery taste); Guoba rice (crunchy and delicious, one is not enough); sugar-coated fruit (so delicious that you can't stop eating); brown sugar milk tea (really delicious)...
Boiled frog (strongly recommended! In Beijing, frogs are eaten in pieces, but in Chengdu, frogs are served whole! There are several frogs in a large pot, the real deal!)
🏠Accommodation:
We live near Chunxi Road, and the food in this small shop in a small alley is super delicious and beautiful. Living here is very convenient to the pedestrian street and IFS Taikoo Li. I will choose this area next time I visit.
[Love] Feelings:
This trip to Chengdu was very pleasant. Whether it was the local culture, climate, or food, it was more down-to-earth and less tourist-city-like. The experience was great 👍. I will definitely come again next time if I have the chance.
