The Aluvihare Rock Temple is a popular and impressive temple which you should visit if you are in Matale District. This landmark is far from the nearest city, you must arrange a private driver to get there. The recommended sightseeing time is between one to two hours. This may be one of the most interesting Buddhist temples I've ever visited. It's situated on top of a rock and consists of several buildings and caves with a stupa on the very top of the rock. There is no need to hire a guide, however, if you are into history and want to know more details of the art work then you might need one. The temple is impressive with its bright yellow color and many gods. You can't go inside on Sundays because of prayers, so if you want to go inside, I recommend going on a weekday. I visited Sigiriya Rock, a UNESCO World Heritage site located in Sigiriya, Sri Lanka! Climbing the 1,200 steps to the top offers breathtaking views, allowing you to take in the vast expanse of nature. I highly recommend visiting on a sunny day! Highly recommended hikes for lion rock - a beautiful view of lion rock from Pidurangala Rock. Wake up in the morning for a cool sunrise hike to the top, no humidity and no sun, easier stroll, be sure you’re able to climb and scramble at some parts along the hike as there’s only a little rope to support. Sunset was incredible here too, we left the rock for the day, hiked back up in the evening to watch the sunset and see the blood moon from the top of the rock, also some cheeky monkeys at the top of the rock that will try and take your food so be cautious of these. Also 1000LKR per visit, even if you go up in the morning your ticket isn’t valid for the evening so you will have to purchase a second ticket when you go up the second time #view #hike #sunrise #sunset #srilanka

Unfortunately we happened to climb with many other tourists during to holidays in Sri Lanka, but once you are on the top, you don’t feel the crowd anymore, and can just enjoy the beauty of the views and nature around you.

Introducing the food court "Hela Bojun Hala" where you can enjoy local food at a low price! ⭐️Review The best food spot to eat delicious Sri Lankan snacks at an affordable price! This food court is located on the rooftop of a building with a parking lot, and smiling aunties skillfully prepare all kinds of Sri Lankan snacks. Everything is cheap, and the aunties are kind and great. You can either take it away or eat it in the store, and if you take it away, they will wrap it in a paper bag. The Sri Lankan roll (60 Sri Lankan rupees) is freshly fried! It is a snack of curry wrapped in roti dough and fried until crispy. It is a coconut milk-flavored curry that is not too spicy, so I recommend it! It was like a Sri Lankan version of curry bread. The cutlet is 50 Sri Lankan rupees. I bought a sweet potato croquette, which was spicy and super delicious! The natural sweetness of sweet potato goes well with spices 🍠 Kitul pancakes are 40 Sri Lankan rupees. The lady bakes them one after another, so you can buy them fresh. They are filled with crunchy coconut and the dough is chewy. You can eat as many as you want! They are the best when eaten with chai! A must-visit shop when you come to Kandy. There are helpers to support you, but they are paid, so please negotiate the price in advance. The average price is said to be 5,000 rupees. It was originally the geographical center of Sri Lanka. The building was built between the 8th and 10th centuries in Dravidian architecture (Pallava style) and is believed to have been used by Buddhists. The inscriptions on the pillars from the 9th to 10th centuries excavated from the site reveal that Nalanda Gedige was a Buddhist monastery, recorded in Sinhalese. There were also rules set for the temple. In addition, some scholars have described this building as Dravidian architecture dedicated to the Mahayana sect with clear Tantric learning. It is known as an ancient monument that demonstrates the connection to Vajrayana (Tantric) Buddhism. Nalanda Gedige is designed in the style of a Hindu temple, with a pavilion, an entrance hall (originally roofed), a short walkway to an exposed cello, and a walkway around the sanctuary. There are a limited number of traditional Hindu deities inside the temple. However, a statue of Lord Kubera appears on the southern side of the tympanum above the sanctuary, a feature that can only be seen in Sri Lanka. The ornately decorated façade was painstakingly rebuilt in 1975, mostly in the South Indian style. We happened to dine in Sigiriya Wew Thawulla Restaurant during our stay in Hotel Sigiriya. It is located a short walk away from our hotel at the junction between Sigiriya Road and Hotel Road. It is also a stone's throw away from Sigiriya bus stand. There are a few roadside restaurants on the same stretch of road which offer similar food. This area also offers amazing views of the Sigiriya Rock Fortress, the most iconic landmark in Sri Lanka. The restaurant serves eastern, western, Chinese and Sri Lankan food. We ordered fried noodles, koththu roti and juices. The food was delicious in generous portions.
