Another place really worthy to visit is shirakawago... but... I wouldn't recommend going in summer because it's waaaaay to hot!! There are limited places with shelters, except many museums or historical houses which requires an entrance fee. We bought sunscreen as soon as we saw the first convenience store after alighting the bus, and bought ice drinks less than half an hour under the sun. The buildings are really interesting though, with displays of tools locals used for farming. That is me in the first picture, the scenery looks like a painting, right? We had the opportunity to visit this enchanting village in February of this year, and the experience was nothing short of magical. The scenery, with its snow-covered rooftops and serene landscapes, created a fairytale atmosphere. However, our visit was bittersweet, as we weren’t able to stay for the nighttime festivities. The village is particularly famous for its winter illuminations in January and February, when its historic gassho-zukuri houses are beautifully lit against the backdrop of a snowy landscape. Witnessing this breathtaking sight would have undoubtedly added an extra layer of wonder to our trip, making the evening just as memorable as the day.
