📝What is it like? The aerial walk from Izukyu-Shimoda Station to the top of Nesugatayama is about 540m long, has a height difference of about 156m, and takes about 3 minutes and 30 seconds. The royal blue gondola was designed by railway designer Eiji Mitooka, and has a lovely warm interior that makes use of wooden flooring and nature. On the first floor, there is a restaurant that uses local ingredients, as well as a shop space, making it a "cozy spot in front of the station" where tourists and locals can easily drop in. Shimoda, located on the Izu Peninsula in Shizuoka Prefecture, is a place where you can enjoy historic townscapes and natural scenery. This time, we boarded the Shimoda Ropeway from a station about a 3-minute walk from Izukyu-Shimoda Station. It takes about 5 minutes from Shin-Shimoda Station to Nesugatayama Station. As you go up the mountain slope, you can see the ocean and the Izu Islands in the distance. While enjoying the view, you will soon arrive at Nesugatayama Station. There is a terrace cafe attached to the station, from which you can get a panoramic view. The price is 1,500 yen per adult.
