🌈 How to enjoy summer in Hokkaido?
Of course, come to Shikisai-no-Oka to see the flowers!!!
🌈 Every year from June to September, more than 50 different kinds of flowers bloom in the garden, including lavender, moss phlox, tulips, and cosmos. The various flowers planted in intervals in the fields create a rainbow-like effect, and with the backdrop of the continuous snow-capped mountains, it is truly breathtaking!
🎹 Transportation options:
✅ Car rental🚗: Public transportation in Hokkaido is not very convenient. Renting a car for a day from Sapporo to Furano allows you to also visit Biei Street and the Blue Pond.
✅ Day tours🚌: There are many day tours from Sapporo to Furano to see the flowers during the summer, with very reasonable prices and including a buffet. For 1-3 people, day tours are very cost-effective.
✅ Public transportation🚉: Take the KAMUI limited express from Sapporo Station to Asahikawa, then transfer to the Furano Line and get off at Bibaushi Station. Walk from there.

Colourful View in Biei
#springblossom
Definitely worth photo-taking with a nice colourful view. Lovely scenery, good and polite staff and accessible. Free parking also makes it convenient ( if you have a car ).This "rainbow field" is definitely our favourite one in the area. It's free to enter, and you only have to pay if you want to take the rides. Worth a visit to see the immense fields of colourful flowers.

Hokkaido’s flower blossoms are a stunning spectacle, particularly in Furano and Biei. Furano's lavender fields, in full bloom from late June to early July, create a sea of purple that’s both fragrant and breathtaking. Biei offers picturesque landscapes with vibrant sunflower fields in August and the Shikisai no Oka garden, known for its diverse seasonal flowers. These locations showcase Hokkaido’s natural beauty, with rolling fields and vivid colors providing perfect photo opportunities. The serene and expansive flower landscapes make Hokkaido a must-visit destination for nature lovers and photographers alike.

Enjoy the Vibrant Ponds and Flowers on a Hokkaido Drive!!
I went to Furano during summer vacation!!
Compared to Tokyo, it is much more comfortable. Although the lavender season had ended, there were still many flowers and delicious food to enjoy.
○ Blue Pond (Approx. 30 minutes)
We arrived around 10 AM, so the parking lot wasn't too crowded. The pond's water was even bluer than in the photos!! It was breathtakingly beautiful. Since we went in the morning, there were fewer tour groups, making it a stress-free visit.
○ Shiraito Falls (Approx. 5 minutes)
Located about 5 minutes by car from the Blue Pond. This waterfall also has a unique blue color that is worth seeing!!
○ Shikisai no Oka (Approx. 1 hour or more)
A vast area covered with flowers. I've visited many flower fields before, but this one was overwhelming in scale! It looked like a carpet of flowers. It's less than 2 hours by car from Asahikawa Airport and 1.5 hours from Sapporo! It's a highly recommended spot when visiting Hokkaido.

August Flower blossom in Hokkiado
August in Hokkaido brings a spectacular display of late summer blooms, with vibrant fields of sunflowers taking center stage. The vast sunflower fields, especially in Hokuryu Town, create a golden sea of blossoms under the bright summer sky. Sunflowers are not the only stars of August, as lilies, dahlias, and cosmos also bloom across the island, adding pops of color to the landscape.
Lavender fields, though past their peak, still offer a lingering purple hue, especially in higher altitudes, while the summer’s end brings an array of wildflowers carpeting Hokkaido’s parks and countryside. Gardens like the Shikisai-no-Oka in Biei remain a vivid tapestry of colors, with zinnias, marigolds, and salvia blooming in full glory.
August's blossoms are a striking contrast to the earlier summer months, providing a more diverse range of flowers and signaling the transition from summer to early autumn in Hokkaido.

Hokkaido's Shikisai-no-Oka: A Breathtaking Tapestry of Colorful Flowers
Hokkaido's Shikisai-no-Oka is undoubtedly one of the most iconic flower viewing spots. Located in Biei, Shikisai-no-Oka deliberately plants dozens of different colors of seasonal flowers. During the flowering season, the entire field is like a palette on the earth, painting a colorful scene among the undulating hills. Especially during the lavender season in July and August, the added romantic purple hues make it the most worthwhile time to visit Shikisai-no-Oka.

Flowers In Full Bloom In Hokkaido 🌸🌼🌷🌹
#wecreate
It is summer and the flowers at Shikisai No oka are in full bloom. Shihisai No Oka is a gorgeous flower field in Biei, Hokkaido and there tons of different flowers to be seen. The flowers are arranged/grown in a way where they are of different colours and the sea of flowers just look like rainbow colours. Visitors at this flower field can even go on a tractor ride to view the entire area of this place. The field is really huge and the view beyond the flower fields are beautiful hills. After the tractor ride, you can also hop off and walk around the flower fields on your own. I especially like the lavender field, where the flowers smelt so good!
For the kids, they will be overjoyed to know that there's an alpaca farm within Shihisai No oka. Kids and adults are allowed to feed these cute, gentle and fluffy alpacas with the purchase feed. We are allowed to pet and touch these alpacas. The pretty and colourful flowers lifted our moods after visiting this place, while the adorable alpacas made us really happy. Shihisai No oka is the ultimate flower garden to visit in Biei Hokkaido, such a lovely place!

We visited Shikisai no Oka upon recommendation by the Biei Tourism Office. It was the prettiest out of the flower fields we visited including Tomita & Zerubu. We took the tram ride (¥500 per pax) and the views were magnificent. It was extremely crowded though and yes, a lot of tourists. They have a gift shop and some food stalls. Entrance is free. I don't mind paying for the rides as the workers there really worked hard to plant those beautiful flowers. Definitely recommended if you're deciding which flower farm to head to.

Autumn Hokkaido Furano flower field (with self-driving Raiders)
The fourth trip to Hokkaido, choose in the autumn, this National Day holiday, we decided to travel to Hokkaido.
Oh, Hokkaido in October, I can already feel the coolness of the bursts, especially the heavy rain in the middle of the day, regret not taking down jackets, and finally ruthlessly caught cold...
Due to the recent soaring yen exchange rate, The cost performance of JRpass in Hokkaido is getting lower and lower. My husband decided to try the car, but it was the first time to drive in Japan.
Tips:
If you dont have an international drivers license, dont decide to go to Japan by yourself. The Chinese drivers license or the small white book you own (known as the international drivers license) cannot be driven by car in Japan. Careful check of your driver's license and the entry and exit records for international driver's licenses are indispensable.
The driver's seat in Japan is on the right. The old drivers need to adapt to get used to it, so be sure to pay attention to safety.
The speed of Japan is 50 yards. It is immediately reflected that the speeding is detected, and it will be distressed.
How to apply for an international driving license? Search on the T home, I will not say more.
The autumn of Furano is less purple lavender, but there are other flower fields, the sunflowers are very beautiful, and you can take pictures of screensavers. After enjoying the beautiful flower fields, remember to go to the ranch to feed the alpacas. The cute alpaca has no smell. It is disinfected at the door and brought with the leaves to feed the alpaca. They are very clever and can't let them see the blue seeds in your hand, or they will swarm up and tear them into small pieces. Hey, don't try to tease yourself, be careful to spit at you.
Free entry to visit
Ranch Tickets: Adults 500, primary and secondary school students 300

The famous Four Seasons Color Hill, which has a vast and beautiful flower field of 15 hectares, is open from late April to late October. On the rolling hills, more than 30 kinds of flowers such as tulips, lavender and sunflower are open to the public. Go, colorful, like the palette in the hands of the painter, like a seven-color rainbow carpet, the seasons are different, the patterns are different.
There are giant scarecrows standing in the flower field, very cute. Fragrant ice cream made from fresh milk from the United States is also sold in the garden. In addition, there are several alpacas for visitors to visit and feed. During the winter
winter season, the vast garden was covered with snow and turned into a snowfield. In the snowfield, there are snowmobiles, sledding slides, etc., to fully experience the fun of winter snow activities.

Youmei Cycling in the United States, facing the breeze, looking at the idyllic scenery on both sides, it is really fun. However, there are many ups and downs, and there is no dedicated bicycle lane. Be careful when riding. Along the way to the well-defined hills, the yellow and green intertwined farmland stretches out into the distance like a wave. This piece of plain road has a special beauty.
The Four Seasons Color Hill is like its name. It occupies a seven-hectare garden and grows about 30 kinds of flowers. On the rolling hills, rows of well-ordered lavender, lupine, cosmos , sunflowers, etc., like a carpet of flowers.
