[Nagasaki's famous restaurant - The original Champon, Shikairo]
#Overseas travel
If you want to taste the real original in the birthplace of champon, one of Nagasaki's landmarks, 'Shikairo (四海樓)' is a must-visit. This place was founded in 1899 and boasts a tradition of over 120 years, and is known as the first place to create the name and dish of *Champon (ちゃんぽん)*.
Shikairo's champon boasts a deep and rich flavor with a rich white broth made by boiling pork and chicken bones for a long time, seafood, vegetables, and thick noodles. Above all, it is not spicy but soft and rich in flavor, and you can feel the sincerity and history with just one sip of the broth. The *Saraudon (皿うどん)* served with it is also a delicacy with crispy noodles and thick sauce.
The restaurant is a five-story building, and the fact that the restaurant is on the top floor and you can dine while looking out over Nagasaki Port is a big attraction. Especially during the day, the harbor view and at night, the night view adds to the perfect atmosphere. If you want to experience Jjamppong as a meal with history rather than just a noodle dish, Shikairo is the place for you.
