Shijian Hall is situated in the west section of Baota Street, facing south and surrounded by water on three sides. It borders the Ditangshi River to the south, the Xieqiao River to the west, and the Ouhe River to the north. You can access it by bridge from the front door and exit by bridge from the back door, making it convenient for both land and water travel. It is a typical large mansion in the Jiangnan water town and a national key cultural relic protection unit. Shijian Hall covers over 2,700 square meters and features a deep courtyard, epitomizing the "large mansion" style of Jiangnan water towns. The mansion has six high walls, with the terrain gradually rising from the first to the sixth wall, each wall higher than the previous one, symbolizing "step-by-step" progress. Facing south and bordered by rivers on three sides, Shijian Hall allows for sedan chair access from the front door and boat access from the back door, facilitating both land and water transportation. The 420-square-meter garden is meticulously designed with pavilions, waterside pavilions, and corridors, earning it the title of the smallest garden in Jiangnan.
