We had the most incredible visit to the Shanghai Ocean Aquarium, and we couldn't wait to tell you all about it. 🤩
Once you step inside, you're greeted by a world of marine wonder. We were blown away by the diversity of marine life they have. From massive sharks to graceful sea turtles, charming penguins, and mesmerizing jellyfish, it's like a journey through different ocean ecosystems.🐧
But the real highlight for us was the underwater tunnel. Picture this: you're walking through a clear tunnel with water all around you, and it feels like you're right in the middle of the ocean with these incredible creatures swimming overhead. It's a breathtaking experience. 🦈
What's also great is their commitment to education and conservation. They have these informative exhibits that make you appreciate the beauty of marine life even more and understand why it's so important to protect our oceans.👨🏫
And you know what's really cool? They've got interactive touch pools where you can actually touch some of the marine animals. It's a fantastic experience for all ages. 🤚
All in all, the Shanghai Ocean Aquarium was a mind-blowing adventure, and we can't recommend it enough. If you ever get the chance to visit Shanghai, this place is a must-see! 👀

Shanghai Ocean Aquarium
The Shanghai Ocean Aquarium is a great place to visit, especially if you and your children love marine life. There are numerous sea creatures to see that will keep you occupied for at least an hour. Also, the architecture of the building inside is amazing, especially when you walk through the water tunnel and see all the different kinds of fish that are above you. Bear in mind that it can get extremely full and packed over weekends and holidays.
Also, just before you exit the aquarium, there is a restaurant where you can buy food and drinks. The food was okay. If you are a fussy eater, then I wouldn't recommend buying food at the restaurant.

Shanghai Aquarium
Lovely aquarium with many different animals and species. You can only visit each floor once, so take your time before going to the next floor. The jellyfish exhibit has the most photogenic spots. The only problem was many Chinese banging on the glass everywhere, I wish the aquarium stopped this behaviour. Especially considering the cost of the ticket was 160RMB. The animals don't deserve such treatment.

Shanghai Ocean Aquarium
This aquarium is located in the Pudong area, close to the bund and the Oriental Pearl Tower. To enter costs 160RMB for adults but if you book ahead online you can have a minor discount.
The aquarium is a straight forward path to follow and you can spend 1-2 hours there. Luckily there are no large mammals in the aquarium although, penguins and seals have slightly undersized areas.
The Shanghai Ocean Aquarium is one of the best I have visited in China and worth checking out.

Day at the Shanghai Ocean Aquarium 🐠
Getting There - Lujiazui, metro line 2
158 Yincheng Bei Lu, near Lujiazui Huan Lu
上海海洋水族馆,银城北路158号, 近陆家嘴环路
Attractions - The different species of the ocean. The overly eager seal🦭.
Hotels - It was a day trip but there is quite a few options of hotels to choose.
Food & Restaurants - There is a good list of western and Chinese restaurants to choose from in the Lujiazui area.
Shopping - There is about 2 or 3 major malls around the area to shop: Super brand mall , FFC mall etc
The aquarium is always a good option to visit in your spare time. The tickets were pretty easy to buy on the trip.com platform and you can just scan the qr code once you are at the venue. One you walk in there is an area to take a picture of you and your friends which can be paid for at the end of the activity. The aquarium is very nice and accommodating for foreigners as the descriptions are also in English👌. It made the trip more enjoyable having to understand what type of species and where it was from in the world. My absolute favourite area has to be the seal area who were just out there to show off their swimming skills lol 😆 it’s was so entertaining to see. It is definitely a place to visit with your friends or your family. 😊

💙 If you are travelling to Shanghai, Ocean Aquarium is very hard to miss. It is located just near the Pearl and attracts loads of tourists.
To get inside you need a bring your health code, a mask, and, of course, your great mood 🙌
💙 The journey srarts in the hallway, where the exhibition always changes. The time I visited there were tiny ocean crabs and anemones.
Going further you will discover many separated aquariums with tropical fish, reptiles and amphibians. Aquarium includes a long tunnel that takes visitors through a coastal reef, open ocean, a kelp cave, shark cove (those sharks are just huge!), and a coral reef, and they say that it is one of the longest such tunnels in the world. BUT it is a bit hot inside the tunnel due to many visitors, so you'd better have a fan with you.
💙 My fav part is a huge #aquarium with giant #stingrays. Can watch them forever😍 #jellyfish is quite nice too.
💙 The gift shop is way overpriced, so if you are #travelwithkids, try to walk through it as fast as possible, cause toys are white nice and kids want the all.
💙 Cafeteria inside it just average, so it is better not to eat there. There are many nice restaurants just across the road at Superbrand mall.

The #shanghai Ocean Aquarium might be one of my favorite tourist attractions in the city. Here, you’ll discover a bunch of #marine life, from fish to ducks and everything in between. The #aquarium is also home to one of the largest exhibits of Yangtze River Delta marine life. One of the coolest parts about the aquarium is the tunnel, where you’re surrounded by lots of different underwater creatures. But my personal favorite part is the jellyfish room!

This is an aquarium worth visiting again and again.
It's my third time here. The aquarium is located in Lujiazui and is a great place for family outings. It's a well-established aquarium with a variety of marine animals and science education, divided into different sections.
Walking into the Shanghai Aquarium is like stepping into a magical underwater world. There are several exhibition areas in the museum, each of which is carefully arranged to present a variety of unique marine ecological environments to visitors. From tropical fish to polar animals, from coral reef ecology to deep-sea wonders, it's all dazzling.
My favorite is the Jellyfish Pavilion and the Ocean Tunnel, where you can see large marine animals up close. The colorful fish swim freely in the clear water, making you feel like you are in a dreamy underwater world.
In addition, the aquarium's science education is also very good, and children can learn a lot about marine life here.

Whether marveling at the playful penguins or the dazzling jellyfish, every moment was a delight. The Shanghai Ocean Aquarium truly offers a unique and immersive adventure for anyone passionate about the ocean or just looking for a fun family activity!

The icy world of the polar regions
Entering the polar pavilion of the ocean aquarium on a hot day is truly refreshing. You can immerse yourself in the cold and mysterious ocean world, a magnificent scene that nature presents to us. As you step into the polar pavilion, you are immediately surrounded by pristine white, as if you have entered another world of ice and snow. There, the aurora shines, various strange creatures swim joyfully, and watching the penguins waddle around is a unique experience. At the large viewing window, you can closely observe penguins swimming agilely in the water. If you happen to be there during feeding time, you'll see the pampered penguins being picky about their food. Eventually, the keeper drives them into the water, where they scramble for food, just like the saying 'candle'. A visit to the polar pavilion will help you understand how the beauty of life thrives in the extreme conditions of nature. It is not just a simple tour but a spiritual cleansing and a visual feast. Hurry to the polar pavilion of the ocean aquarium and feel the charm of this icy world.

Falling into the dream core underwater world
Shanghai Ocean Aquarium tickets 150/person
The passage is a one-way passage. If you just want to take photos, you can go. There are four or five sections in the underwater tunnel. If you want to take good photos, it is recommended to go directly to the third section. The main picture was taken in the third section. If you are not taking photos and just want to take your kids to play and learn about animals, it is also worth visiting as an aquarium without animal performances.
Be careful not to go on weekends, as there will be a huge crowd.

The Most Amazing Aquarium In Shanghai
This is the largest aquarium I have visited so far. Service is very good and memorable. In this aquarium you can see various species of fish both from the shallow sea and the deep sea. You can also see jellyfish here and uniquely, you can also see penguins. Anyway, come by yourself and watch

Checked in at the Shanghai Ocean Aquarium during the summer vacation, there are fewer people during this time period
🔸How to avoid the crowds during summer
Avoid weekends and mornings at the aquarium. There are many local residents with annual passes in the morning, and the elderly like to bring children early.
⚠️ Tested, we entered on a weekday afternoon at four o'clock, and it was not very crowded, making it easier to take photos. Now there are also night sessions during the summer, which are worth trying for those who fear the heat.
Get your tickets in advance on the dolphin watch, there are many discount combinations, which are more cost-effective than buying on-site.
🔸How to take photos when the aquarium is crowded
📷 If you only look at the parts, it feels like you've booked the whole place.
p2 These small frames are super abundant, definitely no one will squeeze over, you can take your time to shoot.
p3 For these large glasses, have dad stand on one side to 'set a screen' and quickly snap a few shots, totally OK!
p4 The tunnel is a heavy traffic disaster area, let dad lift the child up, shoot towards the top of the head, and it's done 👌
How to take advantage of the aquarium's promotions
At the entrance of the aquarium, we saw an inconspicuous board saying, scan the 🐴 to participate in the check-in challenge, and there are gifts. With the mindset that since we've come, we can't waste the ticket, we both participated in the contest.
As a child, going to the Shanghai Ocean Aquarium on a spring outing, I envied those kids who could shop freely in the gift shop at the end of the trip. h11 decisively chose a shark model, the soft rubbery kind, which was a few dozen yuan.
His dad said not to rush to buy, first see what gifts the check-in activity offers. And indeed, they gave us shark toys, two whole ones! One of them was his favorite saw-mouthed shark.
We observed that almost no one participated in this activity, and we didn't see anyone when we went to collect the prizes. In fact, you don't need to check in at all five points, three is enough.
Friends, don't miss out if you have a smartphone! Getting a prize that you won from checking in is more satisfying than buying it with money.

Shanghai Ocean Aquarium | Winter Parent-Child Outing Guide in the Magic City
After 4️⃣ years, I visited the Shanghai Ocean Aquarium again🧜♀️
In the past six months, I took Humming Brother to the beautiful Okinawa Aquarium🐬
And also to the Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park🐋
But when it comes to the aquarium that carries the childhood memories of Shanghai people
It has to be the Shanghai Ocean Aquarium, which celebrates its 2️⃣0️⃣th anniversary this year🪼
The aquarium has a single-route tour, no turning back, no reverse walking🙅
So you can just wander around without thinking, but you need to look carefully👀, if you miss something, you can't go back
Starting from the entrance, go directly up to the 3️⃣rd floor, then descend one floor at a time, a total of 4️⃣ floors, with a tour time of about 2️⃣ hours❇️
3️⃣rd floor: You can touch starfish by hand, there are also marine picture books, and the projection interactive screen that children love the most. The most surprising thing was seeing shark eggs🦈 You can see the development of shark eggs at different stages, which is very educational, see picture 9️⃣
2️⃣nd floor: You can see fish from different river basins around the world, including the Amazon rainforest, the Nile, the East African region, the Mekong River... The jellyfish tanks that are great for taking photos are also here, and there are polar penguins🐧 that are so still you'd think they were sculptures, it took a long time to realize they occasionally move🤣
B1 floor: The 155-meter-long underwater tunnel is here, looking up to see sharks🦈, turtles🐢, and various fish swimming by, it's quite interesting~
Finally, back to the 1️⃣st floor, there are shopping stores and restaurants🍴
The aquarium here is not very big, maybe because it's the off-season in winter,
The number of people on weekends is not too many, so you can stop and observe and understand carefully
It has a strong educational aspect, and you can learn a lot if you visit seriously
Actually, I really recommend coming in winter, the venue is completely indoors and there are fewer people
It's suitable for taking children to explore the marine world🐳

Shanghai Ocean Aquarium
The Shanghai Ocean Aquarium consists of two pyramid-shaped buildings, a main and an auxiliary, covering an area of 20,500 square meters with a display area of 12,000 square meters. It is divided into nine exhibition zones: China, South America (Amazon), Australia, Africa, Southeast Asia, Cold Water, Polar, Coastal, and Deep Sea, showcasing over 450 species and more than 12,000 rare fish and endangered creatures from all five continents and four oceans.

In the scorching summer, it's time to check in at the Shanghai Ocean Aquarium
Enjoy a cool summer day, watch the ups and downs of marine life, cool off for the summer, and don't miss out on this deep-sea journey, come and check in together~
As soon as you enter the aquarium, you can feel the breath of the ocean, look at all the fish~
The marine tunnel is not to be missed, with over 100 meters in length, where you can get up close and personal with sharks🦈 and other precious and rare fish species, making it a great place to bring the little ones for both entertainment and education.
Here, you can see fish from different regions and seas. Many of them look very beautiful, like the lionfish🐟, with dazzling patterns, but only after reading the introduction do you realize that this fish is poisonous.
For those who love the deep sea, don't miss out on the aquarium~

#ShanghaiOceanAquarium it’s good to visit. We had a great time. I’ve seen a lot of aquatic animals in person for the first time. It’s pretty inside. Good for kids and kids at heart ~ Very educational. Many cute and interesting species inside lol or is it just me? I feel like a child wondering around the place.
