Shanghai Jiushi art museum is currently hosting an exhibition of Edward Munchs work, including a version of The Scream. A very well laid out show, but the artwork is a bit dark and perhaps unsuitable for younger visitors.

There are so many exhibitions in Shanghai, and this time I chose Bund 18 Parallel World.
|||“Simplify - Shen Jingdong's Parallel World”
【Simple yet not simple】
This solo exhibition of Shen Jingdong in Shanghai takes the creation time as the clue and exhibits more than 80 works from 2003 to the present. Each work is a presentation of Shen Jingdong's feelings and thoughts about the real world, and a perfect fusion of reality and surrealism through his mind filter.
【Full series of paintings】
In addition to the "Little Prince Series", "Hero Series", "Bandage Series", "International Joke Series", there are also the "Party Series" and "Hundred Family Names Series" that the artist himself started in 2020.
【Exhibition inspiration】
This exhibition is not only about Shen Jingdong's diverse artistic works, but if you look closely, you will find that each work is either humorous, satirical, or warm, and all the human emotions are in the paintings.
After all the emotions, maybe we are healed ❤️🩹

Jiushi Art Museum.
When I stepped into Jiushi Art Museum, I was deeply attracted by the "Sun and Moon" art exhibition. It is a feast of art that transcends time and space, not only a visual enjoyment but also a spiritual baptism. 🌌✨
The exhibition takes "heaven, earth, and man" as clues, bringing together works by nearly 60 artists from around the world to explore the subtle relationship between the universe, nature, and humanity. Each piece seems to tell a story about the mysteries of life, nature, and humanity. 🖼️🌳👥
With a black, white, and gray tone, the exhibition space looks solemn and mysterious. The artists use unique brushstrokes and colors to vividly depict the scenes under the sun and moon. Especially Yu Youhan's abstract works, which combine the vastness of the universe and the subtlety of life with a unique perspective and technique, allowing people to feel the greatness of life and the magnificence of nature while appreciating them. 🖌️🌌
In addition, the exhibition also provides a deeper space for thought through in-depth cooperation with the School of Philosophy of Fudan University. While appreciating the art, we can feel the artists' deep thoughts on life, nature, and the universe, as well as the philosophical thoughts they convey through art. 📚💭
The "Sun and Moon" art exhibition is an unforgettable art journey. It not only allowed me to appreciate the charm and power of art but also made me realize the true meaning of life and the greatness of nature. I believe this exhibition will become an eternal memory in my heart, inspiring me to pursue truth, goodness, and beauty in my future life. 🎨🌟💖

Art Exhibition in the Magic City | The Rhythm of Law and Melody of Painting: The Artistic Conception and Poetic Heart of Zao Wou-Ki
📷 The Shanghai Jiushi Art Museum finally has a new exhibition~ This exhibition centers around the works of the world-renowned Chinese artist Zao Wou-Ki, entitled 'The Rhythm of Law and Melody of Painting: The Artistic Conception and Poetic Heart of Zao Wou-Ki', bringing art enthusiasts a poetic and picturesque art feast.
👍 Zao Wou-Ki, an artist immersed in poetry and painting since childhood, whose works are deeply influenced by Eastern and Western literature and philosophy. His paintings, like calligraphy, are full of dynamic strokes and freely splashed colors, each brushstroke revealing a joyful visual and spiritual freedom.
🌺 Through collaborations with numerous poets, Zao Wou-Ki's works are filled with rich imagery and metaphors, leading audiences to explore the profound connection between visual art and literary poetry in the intertwining of art and literature.
🌸 The exhibition is divided into three thematic sections: 'Poetic Heart in Visual Imagery', 'Wandering Gaze', and 'Boundless Reach', featuring a curated selection of Zao Wou-Ki's creations from the late 1940s to the 2000s, presenting for the first time in Asia a complete collection of more than ten sets of poetry and print portfolios completed in collaboration with poets.
🌳 The middle part of the exhibition connects the indoor leisurely reading space with the hazy outdoor scenery, and the public education area at the end of the corridor gallery, providing visitors with an immersive art experience space, making one feel as if they are inside an open book, experiencing the charm of art and literature.
❤️ This exhibition is not only a splendid presentation of Zao Wou-Ki's artistic achievements but also a profound cultural exchange and artistic collision. While appreciating the artworks, visitors can also experience the blend and collision between poetry and painting, East and West, tradition and modernity. Those interested should not hesitate to visit the exhibition.

Shanghai Exhibition | 'The Rhythm of Painting and Poetry' - The Artistic and Poetic Heart of Zao Wou-Ki
| 'The Rhythm of Painting and Poetry' - The Artistic and Poetic Heart of Zao Wou-Ki. 🌟 Previously, I visited the centennial retrospective exhibition of Zao Wou-Ki at the China Academy of Art Museum, which involved various art forms and was indeed quite impressive.
This time, the exhibition at Shanghai Jiushi Art Museum takes a different approach, focusing on the theme of painting and poetry, showcasing the collection of prints and poems created in collaboration between Zao Wou-Ki and poets, adding a touch of poetry to the rainy city.
🍃 The exhibition features over 90 prints created by Zao Wou-Ki from the late 1940s to 2000, accompanied by more than 60 illustrated poems. This allows visitors to appreciate the artist's different creative styles over the years and gain a deeper understanding of his imagery through the corresponding literature.
The exhibition hall is divided into five areas: Poetic Imagery, Observing and Contemplating, Boundless, Reading Area, and Video.
🔎 The opening piece 'Henri Michaux Reads Eight Lithographs by Zao Wou-Ki' leaves a deep impression. Michaux wrote eight poems corresponding to Zao Wou-Ki's paintings, marking the beginning of their acquaintance and long-lasting friendship.
'Glory of Images and Poetic Art' in collaboration with Roger Caillois shifts from previous monochrome ink to color creations.
The prints created for Jean Lescure's poem 'Pond' have a touch of ink painting's charm.
The illustrations for Arthur Rimbaud's 'Illuminations' complement the verses, presenting a vivid and exhilarating world.
💖 TIPS: Get a stamp at the entrance and find where the original works are located!
In the video area, you can watch a documentary about the life of Zao Wou-Ki.

Naive Art and Daydreams
At the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th, France was home to a group of unique painters. In modern terms, they were amateurs who had not received systematic learning and art education. However, they presented their paintings in a simple and direct way, deeply influencing subsequent artists. They were later referred to as Naive artists.
To say how direct, or naive, their paintings were, for example, in Boussan's 'Bouquet for Dina', it is hard for me to see how so many kinds of flowers are piled up in the composition. They seem more like they are stacked up in the picture rather than growing naturally.
Let's explore the wonderful world of Naive artists.
Séraphine was one of the few female painters and outstanding representatives among the Naive artists. Her paintings have a strong personal style and unique perspective, but she died in a mental hospital in 1932.
People cannot define these Naive artists and their works with techniques or frameworks, but they are attracted by the primitive narrative style or imaginative imagination in the paintings.
The exhibition is named Daydreams. The organizers hope to tell the world through the deeds of the Naive artists that everyone has the right to dream, even daydreams. As long as you have sincerity and passion, who knows it won't come true?
