Dali Dong Village | A Great Destination for Solo Travel in China!
|A Great Destination for Solo Travel in China! Dali Dong Village | A Great Destination for Solo Travel in China!
How should I describe my days in the village?
It was like a warm dream in a secluded ancient village. I was amazed that there is still a village where people don't lock their doors at night, and the most simple folk customs and peace are preserved.
Unique Dong Style
I stayed here for a few days and met almost everyone in the village. I arrived just in time for a wedding, and the homestay owner invited me to join the celebration. I gave a small gift and enjoyed two authentic Dong banquets.
- Ancient Village Style
The village has more than 300 households, and all the buildings are wooden. The houses are scattered in the mountains, and the iconic Dong drum tower, ancient well (the water is sweet), granary, and terraces are all preserved. The village is not over-commercialized, and there is only one Trip Moment here!
The owner said that the elderly here are called "village elders," and they participate in decision-making about whether to allow outside investment. They have resisted many unreasonable investments.
No "Left-behind Elderly"
The population structure here is also amazing, with a balanced distribution of all age groups. Young people choose to stay in their hometowns to start businesses, partly because of the poor job market outside and partly because of the opportunities brought by the Rongjiang Village Super League.
The elderly are cared for by the whole village, and the younger generation takes care of them. The elderly here are all artisans, and they gather to make handicrafts every day.
Simple Life Experience
The slow pace of life and the simple and enthusiastic people are the core of this place, which made me stay for a few more days.
I was woken up by birds, streams, and the sound of Dong cloth being pounded (a process of making Dong cloth) in the morning. A bowl of local rice noodles started a fresh day. You can wander around the village, chat with the grandmothers making handicrafts on the flower bridge, visit the homes of artisans to see weaving, indigo dyeing, and embroidery, or go to the mountains to pick vegetables and catch rice flower fish with the homestay owner. There is only one coffee shop and one bar in the village, both run by young people.
The meals in the village are very alcoholic, and people start drinking in the morning. The homestay owner shared his homemade rice wine with me at every meal.
This is a great place for solo travel, and after a few days, the whole village will be your friends. Tips:
Transportation: Take a high-speed train to Rongjiang and then a taxi to the village.
Accommodation: There are many homestays in the village, ranging from mid-range to high-end.
Best Travel Time: Avoid holidays to experience the village at its best.

After watching the Wuhaha variety show, I discovered that there is such a niche Dong village hidden in our Guizhou, Dali Dong Village. This place is different from many other villages; it's not commercialized and is a quiet place, very suitable for relaxation. The green-tiled wooden buildings are hidden among the mountains and forests, while the drum tower and wind-rain bridge showcase the simplicity of Dali Dong Village, witnessing the vicissitudes of history here.

Rongjiang has a village supermarket! Rongjiang has more than a village supermarket!
The 2024 Spring Festival Gala sub-venue should be the best recognition of the out-of-circle Rongjiang village supermarket.
Wandering between the cave villages, the simple donation list interprets the strong mass base.
62 teams, provincial external aid restrictions, on and off-court cooperation, from commentary, live broadcast, audience, even friendly matches are configured like this.
If you have time, you must go to Dali Dong Village, about 40 minutes by car.
This is a small village that has hardly been eroded by commercialization. You can see that the folk customs and architecture are very intact.
It's a niche secret realm, much better than the Sanbao Dong Village on the edge of the city.
The Dali Dong Village in southeastern Guizhou is also a very auspicious name.
Living in the well is also very comfortable, there are many flower bridges in the village, which is a place for everyone to chat.
There are many grandmothers selling hand-woven ribbons on the bridge. I made an appointment to visit a weaving studio and saw them dyeing, weaving, and drying cloth.
This is a place I will go again. Well seen | Dali Dong Village TheWellHouse

Don't miss Dalishang Village when you come to Rongjiang
We'll meet at the well on the mountain.
Recently, many friends have been asking where I stayed when I last visited Dalishang Village? Today, I'll share about my accommodation experience at 'Meet at the Well'.
Their house is very easy to find, located on the hillside at the entrance of the village. If you can't find it, just call and the young lady from their house will come down to pick you up. When you go up, you'll see a well, the well water is very sweet, the water quality is great.
We stayed in a parent-child room on the third floor, which was just right for me, my best friend, and her two children. From the large floor-to-ceiling windows of the homestay, you can take in the entire view of the village, allowing you to fully appreciate the beauty of nature. (Remember to close the doors and windows in advance at night, there are more small flying insects in the mountains!)
The room provides hanging ear coffee, water, and drinks in the small refrigerator, all for free. Not to mention the breakfast, which is irresistible! Especially their rice rolls, which are delicious and fragrant, every bite is a taste of happiness, even the children praised them.
The front desk has a warm Dong girl, who also told us that there are village activities every day at 10:00 am that we can participate in, to deeply understand the history, culture, and appearance of the ancient village that has been around for more than 500 years.
If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and take a short break here, I believe it will give you a good travel memory.
