Pelabuhan Sanur (express boat to Nusa Penida)
The only way to Nusa Penida is by using a fast boat from Bali. The most common way is by fast boat to Nusa Penida from Sanur Beach, because in this area there are lots of choices of fast boats from various companies with several departure hours.
From kuta to sanur port takes about 40 minutes.
Express boat tickets can be purchased online in advance at a price between IDR 200-300 thousand round trip per person.
The schedule is as shown at the end of the photo.
Plan your trip early if you are going back on the same day. Arrange a schedule to Nusa Penida take a schedule as early as possible or sleep overnight because there are so many interesting places in Nusa Penida that can be explored and it is impossible for you to do it in a day.

Patio Coffee
A super nice, clean and quite cafe. Staff speak amazing English, and offer food and drink suggestions. Great location just down from key hotels in Sanur. One of the best cafes and a the best Nasi Goreng I have ate in Sanur. Well priced, perfect to come for a quite coffee, catch up on work or simply enjoy the laidback ambiance of Sanur life. It is a very beautiful café in Sanur.

Stuja di pantai
One of the Sanur finest breakfast spot, bit expensive but worth the price in my opinion. The flat white is need little bit level up. The salmon bagel is spot on, smoke salmon was outstanding and the big breakfast has much protein but not big enough for me. Unfortunately they ran put of omelette when I came there. But they changed to poach egg. The waiter is so kind. Good service overall.

What a hidden gem! Not just in Sanur but one of the best cafes in Bali. You’ll be surprise how peaceful it is just being there. There’s plenty of different seatings as well, outdoor, indoor (both with and without air conditioning), and upper floor with a plunge pool! The upper floor is perfect for private events overlooking the beach. This is also a sunrise cafe where they serve breakfast as early from 6am. I had pastries, bak mie, coffee, cocktails and mock tails during my visits there.. and they also have live bands performing from Thursday to the weekends every week. So much to do and try in such a lovely place! Highly recommended to visit when in Sanur and Bali.

Bali, I come home after 3-years
Finally back to my home after 3-years. staying at this lovely Holiday Inn Sanur, next to an InterContinental Sanur. Great location with many local and international food nearby within walking distant.

Sanur Beach
Sanur has many beaches one of which is Pantai Karang Sanur, which is located in south denpasar. This beach is a coral beach and is perfect for those of you who want peace in the beach area and one of the best places for you to see the sunrise on the Bali Island. Many activities are offered on this beach such as riding a bicycle, relaxing in the gazebo while enjoying the scenery and the most interesting thing there is that you can ride a transparent canoe so you can see the fish or coral on the coral beach. a very interesting experience when you row a canoe while enjoying the underwater scenery. around the beach you can also buy Sanur street foods they usually offer by walking around. after you have enjoyed the beauty of the beach there you can also eat Balinese rice made weti which is located around the beach which is one of the traditional Balinese mixed rice which is very famous in Sanur. I suggest you come there in the morning so you can enjoy the sunrise, the location of this beach is about 40 minutes from downtown Denpasar. happy vacation!

Naufal Anzani
Puri Santrian is the largest and most upmarket of Sanur's Santrian chain. The hotel strives for an exclusive vibe that's apparent right off the bat, as -- at the end of a long driveway -- porters stand waiting to help ferry luggage for new arrivals.
Once inside, guests are constantly coming and going -- some are being whisked away on tours of southern Bali while others sip their welcome drinks during check-in. The whole property feels shrouded in greenery, as gorgeous plants and trees tower overhead and spread all around.
Like most Sanur hotels, Hindu shrines are tucked in here and there, and if you time your visit right there may even be a 24-hour ceremony to honor the hotel temple's founding. That contrast of old and new is found throughout the property, albeit with different degrees of success. Some areas feel a little dated and shabby, while others are fresh and modern. That doesn't seem to bother the families and mostly mature clientele, though, who can be spotted walking the hotel's winding pathways between its many pools and the beach. At the end of the day, the oceanside seating in the restaurant makes a great spot for taking in the sunset (or moonrise), while Sanur's bustling promenade fills with locals and tourists strolling in the cooler evening weather.

The Junjungan Ubud Hotel and Spa sits at the end of a small, well-maintained country road flanked by homes and rice fields. The rustic open-air reception area is furnished in natural wood and has rattan seating, Balinese patterned fabrics, and beautifully carved statuary. A newish Mac in the corner adds a touch of 21st-century modernity to the otherwise traditionally styled surrounds.
Guests are warmly received with fruit juices and refreshing cold towels upon check-in. A stream running through the property creates a relaxing add-on to the main draw, pristine swathes of emerald-green rice fields that stretch out behind the hotel. As night falls, the scene gets an extra touch of magic in the form of small swarms of fireflies, which are accompanied by a nightly chorus of croaking frogs.

Kejora Suites is a rare, stylish gem in an otherwise casual beach town. In fact, the name comes from the local word for a shiny, star-like object -- and that's an apt description. That's not to say that the hotel feels pretentious -- instead, the vibe is altogether laid back. Just take one look at the courtyard pool, where guests can be seen whiling away the afternoons with cocktails and books, barely a murmur of conversation passing between them. The style is simple, striking, and contemporary, with interiors rendered in natural stone, dark wood, and deep tones that add a dash of sex appeal. Bold local art, such as photo-mural portraits, only adds to the hotel's enticing character. This isn't the kind of place where the staff are decked in udengs and constantly bow to guests. Instead, expect to feel cared for in an less obtrusive and more genuine way. Guests here are generally couples from Australia and Europe, which isn't a surprise as the romantic atmosphere is undeniable.

Past the main entrance, the Kamuela Villas feels a world away from the busy street outside. The vibe here is zen and relaxing, thanks to uncluttered interiors with clean lines, and quiet gardens with lots of shaded areas. The sleek design -- which combines dark and golden touches with a neutral palette, geometrical patterns, and thick rugs -- may not please those dreaming of a more traditional style, but it does incorporate a few Balinese touches, such as natural wood finishes, high thatched ceilings, and a large Buddha statue placed by the pool. The compact grounds and chic interiors give the property an exclusive, intimate feel, but although the Kamuela Sanur opened in 2006 and gets yearly touch-ups, but we did see some wear and tear in rooms, including scuff marks on furniture.
The serene atmosphere and lack of kid-friendly amenities make the Kamuela a better pick for couples than for families with young children -- and, in fact, we didn’t see any during our visit. A few couples sat around the pool during the day, while the rest of the guests stayed either in their own villa enjoying the private pool, or were out exploring the island or the beach, which is just a five-minute walk from the hotel. At night the atmosphere was a little livelier, with plenty of guests and non-guests having dinner and drinks at the on-site restaurant, known for its romantic setting in a glass-enclosed greenhouse-style building adjacent to the hotel.

Taksu Sanur Hotel - While there isn't much that's remarkable about this hotel, for a reliably modern, clean, and lively hotel that covers the basics well, the Taksu Sanur is a fine fit. To be clear, travelers looking for traditional Balinese character will want to look elsewhere, as it's all about bright spaces, clean lines, and up-to-date amenities here. That has helped make this property a popular and budget-friendly home base for travelers since it opened in 2015. The hotel's two elevator buildings wrap around a central terrace that serves as the de facto hub of the hotel. This space -- which includes the hotel's pool -- was buzzing with activity during our visit. Families and mature couples splash in the pools while others take part in low-key poolside activities like crafts.
It's not a loud hotel by any means, as there's no entertainment program, but there's definitely a social atmosphere here. Keep in mind that the location just next to the town's main road does mean that traffic noise can be an issue at times. Otherwise, this is a simple, up-to-date property that draws loyal repeat guests.

Emerald Villas -- part of a trio of locally owned properties that include Jade Villas and Golden Villas -- is a humble property that's a good option for travelers wanting to feel exclusive without the pretense (or high cost). There isn't much of a social vibe here, which isn't surprising given the property's layout. Each villa is surrounded by its own high wall and landscaping, meaning that there's plenty of privacy. The neighborhood is mostly quiet, particularly as the hotel sits off of Sanur's main tourist drag. Aside from a simple open-air restaurant, there's nowhere for guests to gather, so don't come here expecting lots of socializing. Instead, it's a peaceful and simple place to recharge for a week or two, and draws families and couples.

Tucked away off of Sanur's main drag, the Griya Santrian Sanur is more central than it might seem, though that doesn't translate into anything like a big and bustling resort. Instead, this is a fairly quiet beachfront hotel that has broad appeal for travelers seeking clean and quiet rooms just steps from the shore. Traditional Balinese buildings -- dressed in white and topped with pagoda roofs -- are set amid lush green gardens that ring three impressive pools. Most of the common areas are open-air, adding to the breezy effect, though the majority of the action here takes place on and around the beach. That includes beachside dining and a pool that looks across the narrow Sanur promenade to the sea.
During the day, both this main pool and the restaurants buzz with guests, though the noise level never rises above a dull murmur. That could be, in part, due to the clientele who choose to stay here. While families certainly make their way to the Griya Santrian, most guests are mature couples from northern Europe and Australia.

Nesa Sanur Hotel - This small hotel is tucked just off of the main road and smack in the center of Sanur. However, despite that proximity -- and a near constant stream of arriving and departing guests -- the vibe here is cool, calm, and collected. In fact, while Sanur is hardly a rowdy place in general, the hotel is especially quiet, which makes it a great find for such a prime location. Opened in 2015, things here are mostly modern -- with just a few Balinese touches -- and you're likely to spot people departing on scooters, having a beer in the casual upstairs bar, or lounging around the pool.
Most guests were adult couples and groups of friends during our 2017 visit, though there are a two multi-bedroom units that could work for families. Given the lack of bells and whistles, the property is best used as a reasonably fresh home base from which to explore Southern Bali and Sanur.

While Parigata calls itself a resort, this simple property is really just a small hotel with lovely garden-filled grounds. While it remains popular with repeat guests, don't expect much style here. In fact, it's best used as a reasonably priced home base for exploring central Sanur. Its best asset is its location, with the beach just a two-minute walk down a semi-private lane. Despite being a dated and tired property -- details include lots of pink granite and wood paneling in the open-air common areas -- it's relatively busy most of the year, in part due to its lovely pool area.
During our visit, the pool buzzed with activity, as families and mature couples splashed in the water, drank poolside, and sunbathed. Otherwise, the hotel is a pretty sedate place to unwind for a few days at a time.

The Mercure Sanur was built in the 1990s and has abided by the old Balinese tradition of not building higher than the surrounding temples. The resort spreads over five acres of land along the pristine white beach, and is dotted with individual bungalows, some with traditional lang roofs, that are only two stories high. A public footpath leads the short distance from the main resort to the beach. Inside, the front reception area and the departure lounge downstairs are almost always a hive of activity; the reception area is welcoming, with cushioned wooden chairs grouped into sitting areas and an airy atmosphere thanks to high ceilings and walls open to the elements. The lobby's general style is traditional, with a high, wooden cane roof, and the lush tropical gardens add to the relaxed Balinese atmosphere. The main Pandawa restaurant is done in the same pavilion style, with a breeze blowing in from the Lombock Strait, soothing Balinese pentatonic scale music, and pool and beach views.
The hotel's grounds are bustling with all kinds of travelers from all over the world, including families and middle-aged groups as well as younger couples. It's the sort of place that attracts those avoiding the hectic pace of Kuta, who prefer a slower pace that lends itself to tropical relaxation. The beach is open to the public, with colorful local fishing boats scattered on the sand, but the atmosphere is slower than in some of the more touristed areas; the hotel's section of the beach has beds set up for massages, as well as a low-key cafe. The grounds are also home to a bamboo yoga pavilion, surrounded by people lazing around on hammocks and taking Balinese dance lessons. Although not many guests partake, hotel staff conducts drills for tsunamis and earthquakes on a regular basis, and the reception and meeting area has an evacuation area on the roof.

Sanur isn't known for its villa properties, though every year more seem to crop up to rival the big-scale projects being developed along the main tourist drag. Mahagiri Villas is one of the more exclusive all-villa properties, making a discrete impression that starts right off the bat. In fact, things are so intimate here that you might question whether you're actually staying at a hotel. Tranquil fountains create a distant soundtrack of trickling water, while subtly placed Balinese statuary reminds the newly arrived that they are -- in fact -- in Bali. High walls separate each of the hotel's 17 villas, which are arranged along one of the most scenic spots in Sanur -- a long pathway lined with arcing trees and flowering plants. At night, it's lit up with dozens of lanterns that create an undeniably romantic effect. This isn't the kind of place for travelers wanting to mix and mingle over beach-inspired cocktails. Instead, it's a peaceful escape that's best for couples and families looking to unwind in each other's company, without distractions.

Swastika Bungalows is an unassuming property that has one distinct advantage over some of its local budget competition: its gorgeous grounds. The hotel doesn't abut Sanur's beach, but just by looking around you know that you're undeniably in the tropics, as flowers, plants, and trees burst from nearly every corner of the property. This makes what few amenities are found here feel convincingly away from it all, including the hotel's three lovely pools.
Low-slung buildings have a typically Balinese look, though interiors generally look tired and dated. With its low-key vibe, the hotel stays quiet almost all day, every day, and we only spotted a few families and mature couples paddling around in the pools during our 2019 visit.

There's a lot to like about the Klumpu Bali Resort. It's an authentically crafted and charming place that executes traditional Balinese style with elegance, which is a treat in a town where "traditional" is often code for "worn and dated." Instead, the husband-and-wife duo who own and manage this small property have created a hotel that's lovingly kept, where guests spend long afternoons around the tranquil pool. That relaxed vibe starts right away, as the staff usher new arrivals to a table in the hotel's restaurant, where they are treated to a cool towel, cold drink, and a local sweet. It's a perfectly fitting, and unobtrusively comforting, welcome to this boutique-size property. The atmosphere is entirely low-key, and the only sounds you're likely to hear are the occasional bird and rooster, the sound of falling water, and a few of the hotel's more mature crowd lazily paddling in the pool. During our stay, the laid-back afternoon tea service was a favorite among guests, and it was especially delightful when taken on villa patios or poolside.

Among the limited supply of big beachfront resorts in Sanur, Segara Village is in its own category. The vibe here is unpretentious, and while there are plenty of calm corners throughout the property, travelers can also find just the right lively spot to fuel their Bali beach-break fantasies. That mix of atmospheres is in part due to the vast amount of space here. Buildings are arranged like villages, meaning that wide lawns, lovely flowering gardens, and meandering pathways wind between massive banyan trees and shrines. Amid this, families with kids splash in the pools, while twenty- and thirtysomething couples throw back cocktails at the beach club or the lively hot tub bar. Much of the resort is open to the elements, giving it a real away-in-the-tropics vibe. Even so, the few interiors that do exist are pleasantly modern, with the requisite touches of Balinese style in architectural flourishes, carved wood, and artwork. Expect to see a wide spread of travelers here, including families, younger couples, and mature groups of friends.

There's really nothing else like the Maya in Sanur -- and that's definitely a good thing. This is a contemporary and intimate resort that creates a luxury experience while keeping its unpretentious vibe. Despite an imposing exterior -- the angular neo-Brutalist facade is topped with a landscaped eco-friendly rooftop -- once inside, there's an undeniably softer air, with all sorts of nooks and seating areas where guests can unwind.
These range from the buzzing bar that overlooks the small beach (it's a popular spot among travelers from across Sanur at happy hour), to the breezy rooftop, the elegant spa, and the pools that seem to envelop the entire property. Since the hotel is relatively small, though, it always has a hushed atmosphere, and the buzzing dining and drinking venues are far enough away from the guest rooms to keep things sedate. While rates here are high for the area, they're still entirely reasonable for a luxury property, which helps make this stunning hideaway popular with families and couples.

Besakih Beach Hotel - Simple budget beachfront property with a casual and quiet vibe, though style is dated.
The Besakih certainly isn't the freshest hotel that we visited in Sanur during our trip in 2021, though most guests are here to soak up the sun. Thankfully, that's easy to achieve here. The hotel has attractive garden grounds that front the town's bustling beachfront promenade and its pretty beach. During our stay, we saw plenty of folks lounging poolside, down on the sand, or even on their own private verandahs and patios. It's a quiet place, so expect to see fellow guests coming and going from the beach at a pace that rarely rises above a tranquil stroll. Style-wise, though, this hotel has seen better days.
The look is nominally Balinese, with tiled pagoda roofs and the like, but interiors all need a fresh coat of paint, new fixtures, and a little TLC. Even so, most guests are unbothered, as they're here for easy beach access and relatively low rates. Expect to see a mix of mature couples and families at Besakih, many from Europe and Australia.

The number of villa-only properties in Sanur isn't high, and that's especially true when you consider those that are close to the beach. In fact, the main advantage of Parigata Villas is its proximity to the shore, which is just down the road. The hotel itself is a simple affair, and with its individual one-bedroom villas, it has a private and quiet vibe. During our 2017 visit, many guests were spotted heading in and out of their villas, and common areas are limited to the lovely pool and simple restaurant.
Decor is traditionally Balinese and nothing to write home about, though the clean and well-kept grounds do make this an attractive option for the area. Expect to see mostly mature couples here, mostly because the one-room villa layouts aren't exactly family friendly.
In the rapid development in Bali, contemporary building is poping up also happened in Sanur area. It makes us lost the nostalgic feeling of Sanur. But in Parigata Villas Resort, we still have those nostalgic romantism feeling of Sanur.

The Oasis Lagoon Sanur, part of an Indonesian-owned hospitality group, makes a fine first impression. Vines shroud the lobby from the busy road outside, while hardwood ceilings soar overhead and guests are ushered to clusters of seating to check in. A cold towel and excellent spiced fruit drink is offered, helping to set the relaxed tone of a stay here. Given its setting right on Jalan Danau Tamblingan, it's not the most secluded property, and guests are constantly coming and going throughout the day. Even so, you're just as likely to find those who are staying here here posted up next to the lagoon pool all day long as you are to find them sipping Bintangs and Indonesian teas in the trendy restaurant.
The hotel has a buzzy vibe overall, though it's by no means hectic or busy. Instead, the cool, design-led layout, wealth of common areas, and younger crowd give it an energy that you won't find in the more tame beachfront hotels across the road. Most guests here are couples and friends from Australia and Europe. Families do pass through as well. What's more? Rates are often far lower than at competing properties throughout town.

Swiss-Belresort Watu Jimbar is a 4-star international resort located in Sanur, Bali. Sanur’s beautiful sandy beach is only a five-minute walk from the resort and we are close to a variety of restaurants, shops, entertainment venues and tourist attractions.Hotel is always clean and accomodating. This time we had a plunge pool room that was recently updated. Bed and pillows so comfy.
Pools and swim up bar as always fantastic with some shade some sun. I did not spend much time in the pool, but the pool was as great as before. Because the hotel is not on the beach, having the huge nice pool is very positive thing.
I am sure I will come back. They often offer good deals and it is very cost friendly for solo traveler.

Sanur, the underrated gem
Most tourists come to Bali for Kuta/Seminyak/Canggu/Uluwatu area or Ubud. Very few will look at Sanur area as a holiday destination. I had a chace to work from Sanur and I’m going to tell you why you must put Sanur on the next bucket list to visit.
Starting my routine at 5.30-ish am to catch the sunrise, with mount Agung as the background. Super magnificent view. Spend around 30 here and then go to Pantai Karang for free yoga. If yoga ain’t your thing, just strolling around by walking or cycling at the beach and being exposed to morning sunlight. Sanur has a wide paved coastline.
Grab some breakfast at MenWeti (Bali traditional rice), MakBeng (famous fish soup) or at the cafes (so many breakfast cafe, all are great!). Go back to hotel around 9.00-ish with happy heart and get ready for work, at the beachside. During your way back to hotel, you’ll see some local people dip-in the water, they believe Sanur will clean the soul.
Take a lunch break at 1 pm, I usually come to Warung Kecil at Duyung Street. Aside they delish traditional food, I also love their french toast, my alternative for breakfast. Don’t forget to stop by at Massimo for gelato.
In the afternoon, grab a cup of coffee at Second Floor coffee or maybe go for wine tasting at Hatten Wines.
A day well-spent #

Sanur Beach
Sanur Beach is one of the most popular white sand beach tourist destinations on the island of Bali. Besides Kuta Beach Bali, this beach is one of the most crowded beaches frequented by tourists, both domestic and foreign tourists. The attraction of this tourist attraction is the beautiful view of the clean beach, and the calm sea waves. Another favorite activity that tourists usually do here is diving and snorkeling. The sea currents are not so strong making it a very suitable place for these activities. The tourist area of Sanur Beach is located precisely on Jalan Kusuma Sari No. 1, Sanur, South Denpasar, Denpasar City, Bali. This place is always crowded with tourists both during holidays and weekdays. The beauty of Sanur Beach can provide a different and pleasant sensation to enjoy your vacation moments.
