Walk into American TV Series | Explore the City of Angels, Los Angeles
The place where you see Los Angeles the most is probably in American TV series. Finally, I had the chance to drive along Highway 1 and see the real-life scenes from the TV.
The most unforgettable thing about Los Angeles, besides the purple beach of Santa Monica, is the high parking fees! $40/hour, I guess I won't have the chance to park in a more expensive parking lot in my lifetime.
✅ Attractions Introduction:
Universal Studios - A collection of roller coasters, highly recommend the Harry Potter themed area, the level of detail is just too high!
Griffith Observatory - The sun sets around 19:00-20:00, you can see the purple-pink sky and the golden observatory;
Desert Hills Premium Outlets - It is said to have 180 brands, including Fendi, Burberry, BV, but no LV or Gucci. It's good for buying American local brands, and out-of-season Coach items are really cheap!
Beverly Hills - The name itself sounds high-end, a collection of various brands, don't miss it if you want to shop!
Santa Monica Beach - Next to the Pacific Ocean! The best time for photos is in the evening when you can capture the pink sky. ⚠️ The parking meters on the roadside charge $2.5/hour, and you have to buy at least 3 hours!
Angels Flight - The famous scene in LALA LAND where the male and female leads kiss is on Angels Flight. This short 1KM railway is built on a slope and witnessed the brief but beautiful love between Mia and Sebastian;
Grand Central Market - Foreign markets always have a kind of allure, just like the market in Barcelona redefined my understanding of markets. Most stores in LA start their business day at 10 AM;
Staples Center - The timing wasn't right, it wasn't NBA season, so I couldn't get into the arena. Even though I'm not a basketball fan, I still hope to watch a game of the world-famous NBA;
✅ Car Rental and Usage:
⭕️ After exiting Los Angeles International Airport, follow the signs to the designated area to wait for your car rental company's shuttle bus;
⭕️ The shuttle bus will take you to the car rental hall, which is not far, about a 5-10 minute drive;
⭕️ Register yourself at the self-service kiosk to complete the car rental process, then go out and pick up the car;
⭕️ The actual car you get may be different from the model you booked (I booked a Corolla but got a Nissan), but it will be a vehicle of the same class;
⭕️ The car comes with a navigation system, but to be safe, it's better to use your phone's navigation to the hotel;
⭕️ The hotel only offers paid parking services, $36 per day (excluding tax), unlike in China where hotel parking is usually free;
⭕️ In the US, you can refuel at the machine with a chip-enabled credit card or go inside to the counter, tell the clerk the pump number, the fuel grade, and the amount, then go out and refuel yourself;
⭕️ At intersections in the US, if there is a stop sign, you must come to a complete stop and make sure there are no people before proceeding;
⭕️ If you encounter a school bus unloading or an ambulance, you must pull over and stop;
⭕️ ⚠️ Be sure to have sunglasses ready, the UV rays in LA are very strong, and the afternoon sun can easily make you feel tired;

Santa Monica Beach embodies the epitome of coastal beauty, captivating visitors with its sweeping stretches of golden sands and the rhythmic melody of crashing waves. The soft, powdery sands invite barefoot walks and leisurely sunbathing, while palm trees sway gently in the ocean breeze, casting dappled shadows along the shoreline. Against this idyllic backdrop, the iconic Santa Monica Pier stands as a beacon of fun and entertainment, offering panoramic views of the coastline and a plethora of attractions. The sunshine with blue sky offering the feel of walking along Santa Monica Beach is like stepping into a postcard. As well, Santa Monica Beach is a heaven for those seeking solace and serenity amidst nature's splendor.

The most beautiful holy place Santa Monica, California, USA
If you plan to travel to California, USA, I highly recommend Santa Monica. This place is very suitable for families and couples. You can go to the beach to swim in the morning, have lunch at a nearby restaurant at noon, and in the afternoon you can go to the nearby Pacific Park. Have fun.
You can travel by car. Parking here is very easy and convenient. There are many parking spaces. Just park in the parking lot of Santa Monica pier. There are not too many restaurant options nearby, they are mainly Western food, all of which taste very good, and there is basically no need to queue up for a seat. Or you can have a simple meal at the snack bar next to Pacific Park. However, if it is summer, I still recommend eating in a restaurant. It will be cooler and more comfortable, and the experience will be better.
You can spend a whole day here, sightseeing, swimming, and having fun. All kinds of experiences are great. The sunshine in California, USA, is particularly good. In summer, the sunshine is very long, and the sun doesn’t set until around eight o’clock in the evening. The scenery here is also very beautiful, and with the California sunshine, it’s very special to take just a few photos.

LA Santa Monica/Los Angeles Santa Monica Beach
It can be easily reached by taking the Metro from the city to the Santa Monica station. You can start shopping at Venice Beach, where there is also a row of business districts (much like half of Tamsui Old Street coming out of Tamsui Station).
The beach is not easy to walk on, so it is recommended to wear suitable shoes when visiting (shoes that are more resistant to wind and sand or dust-free). Many people are playing sports (beach volleyball), walking dogs, hanging out with children, and performing street performances on the beach.
It takes about 30 minutes to walk to the pier. There are restaurants, snack bars and souvenirs there. Perfect for a relaxing afternoon watching the sunset.

Wonderful Santa Monica
#meetlosangeles
What a wonderful place to visit. Lively attraction, full of entertainment with so many fun activities nearby happening. We spent a couple hours there and enjoyed the sunset very much. At sunset don't miss to go to the end of the boardwalk to watch that sunset and you can get your coffee from many coffeshop around you.
There are a variety of food and drink options and many vendors providing custom gifts along the pier.
It is great for all ages as there is a theme park for the kids.
Highly recommended!!

Santa Monica State Beach is the final stop on Route 66, which covers 4,000km in total. After traversing wild desert, you'll finally get to the sea. Santa Monica is home to the most popular carnival pier in Los Angeles. It is fully equipped with a Ferris Wheel, a roller coaster, a swinging ship, restaurants, and coffee shops. You'll also see Route 66 signs around here.
guoxiaotao.
This park, which served as a shooting location for Forrest Gump, is considered the back garden of Los Angeles. You can try all kinds of sports on the beach. A famous LA mall is also located nearby. In the middle of the beach is an amusement park, where you can take a ride on a roller coaster or ferris wheel. There is no shortage of restaurants or street performances here. Venice Beach is also pretty close by, so check it out if you can!

We could live in Los Angeles. We really could. Because we travel fulltime we get to see all these amazing places and we often ask ourselves: would we be able to live here? The answer is almost always negative, except for L.A. It's difficult to explain, but the vibe you feel in L.A. is something you won't find anywhere else.

🌟Set the target Santa Monica Beach, drive into the boardwalk, the sign for the end of Route 66, the blue sky, the vast Pacific Ocean, the pale yellow sand beach.🌟

Fun amusement park on Santa Monica Beach. Although the paradise is not big, there are many tourists. If you are in Santa Monica, you may come here to play.
🚗Transportation: By bus or by car to Santa Monica. The pedestrian bridge leads to the pier. The amusement park is at the end of the bridge, in front of Highway 66 signage.
✌️How to play:The two most popular items in the amusement park are the roller coaster and the ferris wheel. These two items cannot be missed. Others such as jumping machines and rotating wheels can be selected according to time. In the direction of the pier, you can take a panoramic view of the amusement park. The Ferris wheel in the amusement park is the most suitable for background photography.
🕙The best time to play: In the afternoon, to avoid the hottest time of noon, you can go to the dock to watch the sunset at the sea.

Sunset Views at Santa Monica Beach
Nearest station: Downtown Santa Monica
From the station, it’s a 8-10mins walk to the beach.
Best to come from 4.30-5.30pm for the sunset views. The sun sets as early as 4.30pm in November as the weather is cold. Very mesmerising sunset views! After taking in the sunset, you can also head on to the carnival just beside the beach. It opens all day but rides can get pretty expensive. It’s a nice place to just stroll around and get pretty photos too!

I went to the west coast of the US for my first trip to the country.
This was in 2018, and the round trip took about 8 days. It was my first time there, and I went with a colleague on a group tour. As two girls, we felt safer on a group tour. Next time, I'll go to Yellowstone National Park or the east coast.
This time, the main itinerary was:
Santa Monica Beach (I didn't see any dolphins, but I did see seals. The sea was very blue and clear.) I checked in at the end of Route 66.
Horseshoe Bend + Antelope Canyon
Grand Canyon National Park + I took a helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon.
Universal Studios Hollywood + Hollywood Walk of Fame
I went to two outlet malls and I recommend the Palm Springs Outlets.
The natural scenery was really good, and Universal Studios Hollywood is a must-visit. There weren't many people when I went, so the queues were short.

Los Angeles' sunset truly does not deceive me
Day 1
The day I set off for LA was really long. A 24+15 hour April 23rd, starting from midnight on the 23rd, I didn't sleep well. First, an early morning flight to Tokyo Narita, then a few hours in a capsule hotel, which was also a new experience. I wrote about it in a guidebook. Overall, it was a pretty good experience. Continued on to LA, a 10-hour flight during which I watched five movies, had two main meals, one snack, and finally arrived. Welcome to the State. The security check just asked a few questions: what are you here for, how many days, why LA, are you a couple, work, itinerary. After coming out, it wasn't time to pick up the car yet, so I stayed at a nearby Marriott for day use for a few more hours. While waiting for the bus, a guy saw us waiting too long and agreed to give us a lift, even writing us a tissue memo.
I saw an almost perfect sunset, strolled around Venice Beach, enjoyed the breeze, watched the sunset, the big moon, and the Santa Monica Ferris wheel.
I circled around LA clockwise, up and down the hills, through rich and poor areas, drank LA-only beer, and took a round at the observatory.
Day 2
On the second day in LA, I was a bit jet-lagged...
It was not a good idea to have breakfast in the wind, the Mexican guy just took it all apart... Breakfast was indeed bad, both salty and cold...
Set off for the rich area, Beverly Park, and the park on the hilltop, found a way to avoid paying for parking~ In Beverly, saw many Israeli flags, commemorating those who died in the conflict that started last October.
The afternoon was spent visiting the Getty Center and Villa, both very beautiful, with some private collections, not too crowded, free admission with advance reservation. If you check in at both places in one day, parking is only $25, and if you enter after 3 pm, it's only $20. There's a bit of a traffic jam from the center to the villa, about half an hour, and the villa closes at five, so watch the time.
I love Highway 1, it's basically along the coast, so beautiful. LA has mountains and sea, skyscrapers and bungalows. I really like the well-decorated single houses. Thinking about it, the streets and houses are super Israeli. All the signals on the road are only in English, different from any other country where local language + English is used. The road signs have become very pure.
Saw Taylor's chart-topping on the road~ Bought a new album at the supermarket, went to the supermarket twice, really felt like Israel, everything is in such large quantities. Reminded me of the time when I also bought a week's worth of stuff.
Found a beautiful spot for sunset photos, saw the sea and the mountains, unfortunately a bit cloudy, but still beautiful.
Day 3
A cloudy day, finally went downtown, took photos of the Hollywood sign, went to MOCA and The Broad, $27 parking fee (because I was over by a few minutes, otherwise $17 for within three hours), saw Angel's Flight, saw The Last Bookstore (really a lot of books, dazzling, even if you read one book a month from there, it would take many, many years to read more). That's about it for the city, but these days have been from one suburb to another, and in the end, I didn't go into Santa Monica, whatever.
Was supposed to have an interview in the evening, but it got delayed, so I went to eat tacos with a classmate I hadn't seen since junior high school graduation, finally resolved a long-standing curiosity, everyone's married, and got a rough idea of some local Chinese matters, just so-so.
It was also the first time having an interview in a car, and the first time having such a short interview, introducing the Canton Fair in English, introducing myself in Cantonese, well, I seem not to be interviewing for a journalist position, but of course, I'm very willing to be a journalist.
Met a spirited little dog named August, really super beautiful, no tail, but when it wags its butt, the muscles twist and turn.
Finally arrived at the place I was supposed to come to four years ago. Americans drive fast, this time I can trust Google Maps. Overall, it's comfortable. Looking forward to the East Coast later on.

My happy place ♥️ Day or night, there's always something going on. A good place to enjoy a picnic, a walk on the sand, taking a bike ride, flying a Kite, or maybe a little romance 😉 You might run into a bike club showing off their tricked out bikes or you could get a haircut from the mobile barber. Grab some food and a souvenir from one of the local vendor carts. Go to a yoga or weight class, maybe learn to walk the slack lines, listen to a dj spinning from the window of a nearby hotel, and then sit in the sand and listen to the waves. This is my favorite go-to beach ⛱️

In the evening, come to the end of Route 66 on Santa Monica Beach, where the road sign has become a popular check-in spot. The original agreement could only be realized by the female lead herself, which is somewhat emotional. -
