Sansoucci Park in Potsdam 👑
No visit to Berlin is complete without visiting the impressive (& free of charge!) imperial park in Potsdam, located just 40 minutes from the Berlin city centre in zone C.
Sansoucci Park is dog-friendly and one can walk there for hours. Plan it as a day trip and explore the Potsdam city as well!
This park is home to multiple palaces and picturesque gardens. Entry to the park is free, but there might be a charge to visit the park buildings.

Sanssouci Palace in Germany
When visiting Berlin, besides exploring the city's attractions, you can also visit Sanssouci Palace in Potsdam. A combo ticket to see all the surrounding attractions costs 22 euros, while just entering Sanssouci Palace costs 14 euros. Personally, I wasn't interested in the other attractions, so I chose the 14-euro option. However, the 14-euro ticket can only be purchased on-site on the same day, not online, so you need to queue up early. If you buy the ticket in the morning, you can enter around noon. The tour takes about 35 minutes. After visiting, I felt it was okay but not a must-see.
I booked the same hotel on Trip.com for a few hundred dollars less than other websites, saving money and earning Trip coins for future use.

Great palace. Don't Miss
The UNESCO palace. Less than one hour from Berlin Center. Twenty five minutes to Potsdam city, a small cute city. And fifteen minute by Bus to the palace. Reservation was recommended because of crowded tourists in holiday.

Sanssouci Palace
Sanssouci Palace is celebrated for its stunning beauty, a combination of architectural elegance, historical significance, and picturesque landscapes:
1. **Rococo Architecture**: Designed by Georg Wenzeslaus von Knobelsdorff, the palace is a masterpiece of Rococo style, featuring delicate ornamentation, pastel colors, and intricate detailing. The interiors are lavishly decorated with frescoes, gilded stuccoes, and exquisite furnishings.
2. **Terraced Vineyards**: The palace is situated atop terraced vineyards that cascade down towards the park. These terraces, adorned with statues and fountains, create a harmonious blend of natural beauty and human artistry.
3. **Gardens and Landscapes**: Sanssouci Park, designed by Peter Joseph Lenné, is an expansive and beautifully landscaped park featuring a variety of gardens, from formal flowerbeds to serene wooded areas. The park includes numerous statues, fountains, and ornate buildings, providing endless visual delight.
4. **Chinese House**: This garden pavilion is an example of 18th-century Chinoiserie, with its golden figures and elaborate design, adding an exotic touch to the European landscape.
5. **Orangery Palace**: Inspired by the Italian Renaissance, this palace within the park boasts lush gardens and elegant architecture, contributing to the overall grandeur of Sanssouci.
6. **New Palace**: Another architectural gem within Sanssouci Park, the New Palace's opulent rooms and extensive art collection add to the historical and cultural richness of the site.
7. **Roman Baths**: This classical-style building nestled in the park's greenery offers a charming and tranquil spot, enhancing the park's idyllic atmosphere.
8. **Historical Significance**: Built as a summer retreat for Frederick the Great, Sanssouci Palace holds immense historical value, reflecting the personal tastes and philosophy of one of Prussia's most influential rulers.
9. **Panoramic Views**: The Windmill of Sanssouci and other vantage points within the park offer breathtaking views of the palace and its surroundings, highlighting the harmonious integration of architecture and landscape.
The combination of these elements makes Sanssouci Palace a place of remarkable beauty and cultural significance, attracting visitors from around the world.

Castles in Germany
#europetrip
On my trip to Europe, I managed to visit a total of 3 castles in Germany.
1. Schwerin Castle, Schwerin
2. Sanssouci Palace, Potsdam
3. Charlottenburg Palace, Berlin
Out of the 3, I prefer Schwerin Castle 🏰. The castle's exterior looks so magical and lovely, while the interior looks luxurious with an art exhibition displaying works from Dutch & Flemish artists from the 17th and 18th century. The Sanssouci Palace is also very pretty too.

May Day Travel Portal, a story of arriving at the other side of the portal to the Sanssouci Palace in Potsdam
Directly to the banner photo, it's a panoramic photo, tilt your head to view.
Potsdam, Sanssouci Palace.
Built by Prussian King Frederick II in imitation of France's Palace of Versailles.
Construction began in the 18th century and took over 50 years, representing a masterpiece of German architectural art.
The artist king who changed Germany, Frederick the Great of Prussia
Although later generations bestowed upon him the title 'the Great', Frederick himself designed Sanssouci Palace in Potsdam and had it completed by architect von Knobelsdorff, and we can still see his influence today.
Frederick II referred to himself as 'the first servant of the state'.
In addition to German and French, which his father insisted on, Frederick II also spoke English, Spanish, and Italian, and could understand Latin and Greek; he was quite skilled at playing the flute, had held solo concerts, and was praised by 'the father of Western music' Bach.
He also drafted the design for Sanssouci Palace and personally supervised the construction progress; in terms of thought, he was influenced by Enlightenment ideas, read a great deal of Voltaire's works, and even invited Voltaire to the palace to discuss and exchange ideas.
In a militaristic state like Prussia, Frederick II became an enlightened king.
The third photo shows:
The fountain in front of the palace faces the grand entrance porch, from which a sloping vineyard terraced terrace unfolds.
The terrace is divided into parallel bow-shaped 6 sections with 120 steps, flanked and surrounded by lush greenery.
Within the stone walls of each terrace level, there are neatly arranged arches, inside which grapes 🍇 are planted.
In the summer, grapevines climb and spread from the arch trellises, appearing charming and graceful, adding delicate and vibrant greenery to the stone terrace.
The garden also has a hexagonal pavilion, named 'Chinese Tea House', featuring traditional Chinese green glazed tiles and an umbrella-shaped roof, with a statue of a seated Chinese official holding an umbrella atop the round column.
The fruit-green walls are inlaid with gold edges, and golden columns form a circle, surrounding life-sized gilded figures (representing Chinese people).
The building's color scheme is fresh and bright, the decoration luxurious, reflecting the popular Chinoiserie of the time.
The fourth photo is Charlottenburg Palace in Berlin.
The place where the 'Potsdam Proclamation' was signed is shown in the fifth photo.

Sanssouci New Palace
#bucketlistreboot
New Palace & Oriental tea house It hosts an estate of several palaces, including the original Sanssouci Palace and also the New Palace along with an Oriental tea house, vast English style gardens and fountains.
Best way to visit this estate is by planning your visit on the train and make sure you know where you want to go as the estate is large and it will take some time to go from one place to another.
Berlin is a city that combines excellent touristic points of interest, great city vibe and very easily accessible. Within a weekend, you can most certainly visit the city and if you want, you can even combine it with Potsdam. It truly is a family and visitor friendly city, feels safe all throughout.

Sanssouci estate
#bucketlistreboot
We dedicated almost a full day to go to the nearby town of Potsdam. A bit of what Versailles is to Paris or Windsor to London. We took the earlier train and arrived by 10am in Potsdam.
Sanssouci estate It’s a quick ride and the ticket isn’t that much either. From the Potsdam train station you can either take a bus to the Sanssouci estate or walk. We walked, of course! At the Palace you will be astonished – since Frederick the Great himself decided to be buried there. Essentially, it’s an estate for the former Prussian Kings designed to impress guests. The idea being that Berlin was for official visits; Sanssouci for the unofficial ones.

Despite its small size, this palace is wonderfully built- the interior design is absolutely stunning and it is well-wroth seeing. The furnishings and walls are mostly preserved and it is fascinating to see how Frederick the Great lived at that time. Everything is in the style of Rococo, which gives the Palace a palatial feel which is something to experience. #wintergetaway
