San Tung Uk Museum is one of the oldest fenced villages in Hong Kong. A typical Hakka fenced village, although it has a history of more than 200 years, is still well-preserved. The excellent repair work has won the museum the "Pacific Heritage Award of the Asia Pacific Travel Association in 1990". ". The architectural layout of the Three Houses Museum is like a chessboard, symmetrical from left to right. The front hall, the central hall and the ancestral hall are built on the central axis. There are four independent bedrooms on both sides. There are exhibition halls and lecture halls, displaying ancient furniture, handicrafts, agricultural tools and Hakka daily necessities, etc. At the same time, it has witnessed the transformation of Tsuen Wan from an agricultural area into a modern town. In June 2016, the Intangible Cultural Heritage Office set up the "Hong Kong Intangible Cultural Heritage Centre" at Sam Tung Uk Museum as its exhibition and education centre, through a variety of educational and promotional activities, including exhibitions, lectures, seminars Meetings, inheritor demonstrations and workshops, etc., to enhance the public's awareness and understanding of intangible cultural heritage.

📍Address: 5 minutes walk from Tsuen Wan Business Centre, Tsuen Wan District, Hong Kong

💞Reason for recommendation: Three Houses Museum is one of the important ancient buildings in Tsuen Wan, Hong Kong. The white exterior walls surround the entire building. Including dim sum culture, sugar art making, shuttling through the alleys feels like a courtyard, very special 🥰✨

Learn about the cultural experience of Nomatahira
Rare opportunity to learn how to make dim sum with the master, so that the children can experience the fun of making food. The first stop was to visit the Three Houses Museum, many monuments and cultural relics conservation, look back at the old architecture and life, an hour walk enough, very interesting! Now the children are packed very well, finished but can come with the master to take a picture, the staff will steam, can choose to eat or take away, finished dim sum sit down to eat dim sum all-you-can-eat, are many options, slowly eat eat for an hour and a half, nothing will be in a hurry, but also can give money to takeaway box packed!

"Mirror of Gods" Special Exhibition
Sam Tung Uk Museum's special exhibition "Mirrors with Gods" Mirrors with Gods refer to handicrafts painted on glass. After the mid-20th century, a large number of rural residents retreated to urban areas, and immigrants from the mainland moved south. Urban residents could no longer travel back and forth to their hometowns to worship their ancestors, so they could only place altars at home to worship their ancestors. Nowadays, glass mirrors made of gods are more durable than Fu Tong's paper-cracked god paintings, and are also easier to place at home, so they are very popular.
The exhibition also displays the production process and explanation of the statue mirror, which is very interesting 😊

Food bowl introduction @Sam Tung Uk Museum
Bonsai is now a common dish for families to gather together during the New Year and festive festivals. In fact, the "eating plate" is the tradition of New Territories surrounding villages in the past, weddings, children, etc. Cooking bonsai to greet their own people😮 Making bonsai requires a lot of preparation time

Sam Tung Uk Museum
This time Uncle wants to introduce the Three Houses Museum located in Tsuen Wan. The museum is very convenient, 5 minutes walk from Tsuen Wan MTR Station, and the cost is free, very suitable for families to visit!
The building of the Three Houses Museum is of great historical value. It is a legal monument, and the exhibits inside display many household items used in ancient Hong Kong people's lives, as well as festival supplies. It is very educational. It is recommended that you bring your children to visit!

#Hong Kong Local Tour
Sam Tung Uk Museum is the former site of Sam Tung Uk Village, a well-preserved Hakka walled village. It is a statutory monument and museum in Tsuen Wan West, Hong Kong. It is a branch of the Hong Kong Heritage Museum and was managed by the Intangible Cultural Heritage Office in June 2016.
Sam Tung Uk Village was founded in 1786 by a Hakka family named Chen and has a history of over 200 years.
In the 1970s, due to the construction of the Tsuen Wan MTR station, the village was relocated elsewhere. In 1987, the government renovated the three houses into a museum and officially opened it to the public.
The Sam Tung Uk Museum covers an area of about 2,000 square meters, and the layout of the building is symmetrical on the left and right; there are a front hall, a middle hall, a ancestral hall and four independent rooms in the middle.
The exhibition room has an educational exhibition called "Talking about the Past", allowing visitors to touch some of the exhibits and experience the Hakka rural culture and life.
Address: 2 Guwu Lane, Tsuen Wan, New Territories, Hong Kong
Opening hours: 10:00-18:00 (closed on Tuesdays, the first and second days of the Lunar New Year)

Fried rice cake @Sam Tong Uk Museum
Have you ever eaten traditional fried rice cakes? 🐵 Fried rice cakes are one of the traditional rural New Year foods. The cake mold for making fried rice cakes is usually engraved with wishes such as peace and prosperity. So fried rice cakes are because of good luck Because it became a Chinese New Year food😸 There is also a small workshop for making cake molds in this exhibition. There are some prints that can be printed on the paper😗
