Sala Kaew Ku, Nong Khai Province
How to get there - We traveled from Bangkok, using Highway No. 1 Bang Pa-in - Saraburi, then took the long Mittraphap Road > passed Nakhon Ratchasima Province
> continued to Khon Kaen Province > continued to Udon Thani Province > the final destination was Nong Khai Province, a distance of over 600 kilometers. It was tiring but fun, so we took breaks along the way.
When you reach Nong Khai city, go straight to the Nong Khai intersection, turn right towards Phon Phisai District, Highway No. 212, go straight for 4 kilometers, you will see the Sala Kaew Ku sign on the left.
Keep to the right and make a U-turn, then go straight for a bit, you will see another Sala Kaew Ku sign, turn left and follow the road for about 600 meters, you will arrive. There is a sufficient parking lot inside, buses can enter.
Tourist attractions - Sala Kaew Ku is located in Samakkhi Village, Wat That Subdistrict, Mueang District, Nong Khai Province.
The Devalai Park or Wat Khaek is a place to display statues of various sizes, from life-sized to as large as a 4-story building. The art is based on religious beliefs.
Each statue has a story and aphorisms for visitors to read and refine their minds. The walkway inside Sala Kaew Ku connects to the locations of the statues according to the story of Rama.
The area is interspersed with shady trees. The good thing is that we went on a weekday, so there weren't many people.
Admission fee - Adults 20 baht, children 10 baht
Hotels - Hotels near Sala Kaew Ku include Kaew Khun Resort, Pak Dee Resort, White Inn Nong Khai Hotel, and Warinthon Court Hotel.
Open from 08:00 - 18:00
Restaurants and food - Restaurants in the area are mostly made-to-order or noodle shops. I recommend going to restaurants in the city. Madam Pa Teh's breakfast is very good.
As for cafes, I recommend Silsopa Hostel, a gallery-style cafe.
Shopping - In front of Sala Kaew Ku, there are various local shops selling souvenirs, food, and local products such as silk and woven products.
