Kagoshima Travel|7 things I must do when I come to Kagoshima.
Kagoshima City is the capital of Kagoshima Prefecture, the southernmost part of the Kyushu region. It is not a tourist destination in Japan, but you can actually spend a day to experience the charm of this slow-paced city.
-
❶ View Sakurajima from the Shiroyama Park Observation Deck
❷Tour around the city on the Kagoshima City Tram
❸Try the super-famous Kagoshima black pork cutlet rice - Takuya Kawakaku
❹ Check out the super popular Shirokuma shaved ice
❺Purchase Kagoshima specialty—かるかん(軽羹)
❻Find your favorite coffee shop in the alley near Tenmonkan Station and enjoy the afternoon
❼Go to the かごっまふるさと屋台村 and have a drink and eat some local snacks
-
🌟Tips
①Suica cannot be used on Kagoshima City. If you do not have a local transportation card, you can only get off the bus and insert coins or use a credit card. One way is 160 yen.
② Kawajiu needs to make a reservation. Enter your mobile phone number on the machine at the entrance of the store to make a reservation.
③かるかん recommends Akashiya’s. It’s like the rice cakes I ate when I was a kid. It’s lightly sweet and super delicious! Available both inside and outside the station, but the shelf life is very short
④There are two major stations in Kagoshima. Kagoshima Station is convenient to Shiroyama Park and the Aquarium. Kagoshima Chuo Station is convenient to take the Shinkansen. Both stations are connected by JR.
⑤Everyone has to order one portion of Shirokuma Shaved Ice. The normal size is for 1 to 2 people (a very big portion), so just order the baby size.
⑥The Seal of the Hundred Castles of Kagoshima Castle is in the [Aimeikan] at the foot of the mountain, but the Aimeikan is closed on Mondays. You can also go to the [Kagoshima Castle Seal] near Central Park, and you can also buy the castle seal.

Kagoshima Five-Day Four-Night Travel Guide
Kagoshima recommends Kirishima, Ibusuki, and Sakurajima.
🎏 Day 1 and the morning of Day 2: Ibusuki (Pictures 1️⃣2️⃣3️⃣4️⃣5️⃣6️⃣)
🚂 Departing from Kagoshima Chuo Station, you can take the black and white Ibusuki no Tamatebako train (Picture 14), which runs three times a day, all reserved seats, and requires advance reservation. The train offers limited edition black and white puddings. On the train, the black side has views of the mountains, and the white side has views of the sea, which is quite unique.
It is recommended to stay near Ibusuki Station, where there are buses, electric bicycle rentals, and taxis.
Ibusuki recommends visiting Chiringashima, Lake Ikeda, and Nagasakibana Shrine.
☀️ Chiringashima is an uninhabited island that emerges in Kinko Bay, isolated from the world. A sand bridge about 800 meters long appears on the sea surface connecting the island to the mainland for a few short hours before low tide, which is interesting. It is safe to walk on it only from March to October during low tide, and it takes about 20 minutes on foot to reach Chiringashima. The island largely retains its original natural ecology.
🌄 The sunset at Nagasakibana is very beautiful, but the last bus to Nagasakibana leaves at around 3 PM (Picture 6️⃣), which is a bit early for sunset viewing. The nearest train station to Nagasakibana is Nishi-Oyama Station, 18 minutes from Ibusuki Station, but there is no transportation from Nishi-Oyama Station to Nagasakibana, and it takes about an hour on foot. One option is to take a taxi round trip, another is to rent an electric bicycle at Ibusuki Station.
🎏 Afternoon of Day 2 and morning of Day 3: Kirishima (Pictures 7️⃣8️⃣)
Kirishima is very beautiful, especially during the cherry blossom season, with cherry trees all along the way. The hot springs here are also famous. Kirishima Shrine is a must-visit for its beauty and atmosphere, and it is recommended to go there before 8 AM. (For more about Kirishima and Kirishima Shrine, please refer to my previous notes)
🎏 Afternoon of Day 3 and Day 4: Sakurajima (Pictures 9~13)
Sakurajima is Japan's most active volcano, only four kilometers away from Kagoshima, so it is recommended to stay near Kagoshima Chuo Station on the nights of Day 3 and Day 4. From the port of Kagoshima City, take the ferry to Sakurajima, which runs every 20 minutes and takes 20 minutes for the whole journey. ⚠️ No ticket is needed for the ferry to Sakurajima; just board the ferry, and pay upon arrival at Sakurajima Port, where change machines are available. The return trip is paid at Sakurajima Port before boarding.
Upon arriving at Sakurajima, get a Chinese version of the 'Sakurajima Area Map' (Picture 13) at the information center, and you can also buy a sightseeing bus ticket, a one-day pass for 500 yen, with hop-on hop-off privileges. The bus's highest point is 'Yunohira Observatory' (Pictures 11 and 12), and I highly recommend the 'Lava Coast Walking Trail' (Pictures 9️⃣🔟), which is less crowded and offers views of large black volcanic rocks by the sea🪨, very impressive. Not far from the trail, there is also a free foot bath to enjoy.
🎏 On the evening of Day 4, you can visit Kagoshima Chuo Station (end of the pictures), where there are plenty of restaurants and shopping.

Summer in Kagoshima
Kagoshima, a seaside city on Japan's Kyushu Island, is the capital of Kagoshima Prefecture. It's best known for Sakurajima, an active volcano that faces Kinko Bay. At its base, the Nagisa Lava Trail winds through lava fields filled with boulders. Once set on an isolated island, the volcano became connected to the Osumi Peninsula after an eruption in 1914.
It’s quite easy to walk down to the ferry terminal and get on the boat to Sakurajima. No ticket required - just pay when you exit the boat. The island is populated despite consisting largely of an active volcano. There was an ash cloud above the volcano and it was belching smoke. We could see the ash on the ground where the rains had washed it into puddles. There’s a city bus that runs a loop to a few stops around town. It was cash only (no IC card) unless you buy the one day pass for ¥500. Enter the bus at the back and pay as you exit. There are shops selling fruits and souvenirs - Sakurajima is known for its satsuma mandarins. There are some nice parks, the longest in japan foot bath and some nice hikes.

A Day Trip to Sakurajima Volcano in Kagoshima
You can see the towering volcano right from the Sakurajima ferry terminal!
The ferry ride takes about 20 minutes.
This time, the travel route is Yunohira Observatory - Karasujima Observatory - Lava Coast Walking Trail - Lava Park Foot Bath - Tsukiyomi Shrine.
The view from Yunohira Observatory is excellent, allowing you to quietly enjoy the Sakurajima Volcano.
You can also get a distant view of Kagoshima from above.
Since I wanted to walk the Lava Coast Walking Trail, I chose to get off at Karasujima Observatory and walk all the way to the ferry terminal, which takes about 40 minutes.
However, walking along the coast is very pleasant, with very few people, making it perfect for daydreaming.
Seeing the foot bath means you've reached the end of the trail~~ You can relax with a foot bath!
But I think it would be even more beautiful to walk around sunset.
If you plan to take a day trip to Sakurajima, it is recommended to buy a day pass that includes the ferry.
Just taking the round-trip ferry and three Sakurajima buses is worth the ticket price! You can continue to use it when you return to Kagoshima, and there are also discounts on admission to several attractions, which is very cost-effective.

Take a Ferry to Active Volcano Sakurajima from Kagoshima!
One of the places I always wanted to visit was Sakurajima because a band I used to listen to had a song themed around it.
You can reach the island in about 15 minutes by ferry from Kagoshima.
The view of Sakurajima from the ferry was the best angle, for better or worse.
I also enjoyed the process of gradually approaching Sakurajima.
When I arrived on the island and walked around, I saw evacuation shelters that I had never seen before, reminding me that Sakurajima is still active.

The Historical Remains of Kagoshima's Tsurumaru Castle
The ruins of Tsurumaru Castle in Kagoshima are a captivating site that holds the glory of the past. The remnants of the castle blend well with the surrounding scenery, making it an ideal place for a stroll. The view of Sakurajima from the ruins is particularly impressive, offering many great spots for photography. Information boards explaining the historical background of the castle help visitors easily understand Japan's past. Additionally, the natural beauty that changes with the seasons provides a new experience each time you visit. The Tsurumaru Castle ruins are a precious space where you can feel the history and culture of Kagoshima, making it a perfect place to spend a leisurely time.

Kagoshima City, Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan ~ The majestic Sakurajima Volcano and the beautiful scenery of Satsuma!
Taking the Kyushu Shinkansen, I arrived in Kagoshima City in the southern part of Kyushu. This city is built around the Sakurajima Volcano, which erupts many times throughout the year. When I arrived, the volcano's crater was still emitting thick smoke. Every household in Kagoshima City has bags in front of their doors to collect volcanic ash. From the observatory in Shiroyama Park, you can see the entire city and the Sakurajima Volcano. Shiroyama Park is the site of the last civil war in Japan, the Satsuma Rebellion. After being defeated in the Satsuma Rebellion, Saigo Takamori committed suicide here. It is said that if you haven't seen the Sakurajima Volcano, you haven't truly been to Kagoshima. However, sometimes due to bad weather, fog may obscure the view of Sakurajima, so it's best to visit on a clear day. Walking to Kagoshima Port allows you to appreciate the Sakurajima Volcano up close. There are ferries that can take you to Sakurajima, but they may stop operating during volcanic eruptions.
Kagoshima City also has many statues of famous people. Starting from Kagoshima Chuo Station, you can see statues of Saigo Takamori and Okubo Toshimichi, the statue of the 11th lord of the Satsuma Domain, Shimazu Nariakira, in Terukuni Shrine, the statue of Atsuhime in the Reimeikan, and the statues of Sakamoto Ryoma and his wife in the Tenmonkan shopping street. In the Tenmonkan shopping street, I tasted Kyushu's tonkotsu ramen and Shirokuma ice cream.
The Ishin Furusato Museum near Kagoshima Chuo Station is a place to learn about the history of the Satsuma Domain. Kagoshima is also one of the birthplaces of the Meiji Restoration. The museum records historical materials related to Saigo Takamori, the arrival of the Black Ships, the Satsuma-Choshu Alliance, and the Satsuma Rebellion. There are many items related to the NHK Taiga drama "Segodon." The entrance fee is 300 yen, and the museum is usually open year-round.

The resolute wind of the monks
in the two trains, I have another classic "Wind of the Wind",
"" Everyone may be a little fierce bird than the eagle, and according to The careful classification of biology, in addition to the scorpion (the owl type) in the raptor, the other raptors are yo!
Because "the wind of the monks", it also represents the spirit of the Japanese Bushido, the tenacity, strong, persistent spirit of men.

Walking all the way, on the way to Kagoshima, the sea appeared in front of you, the coastal roads jogged with you, and you were very happy, and you could see the Sakurajima volcano in the distance.

Kagoshima is located at the southernmost tip of Kyushu, ranging from the northern boundary of the county to the junction of the southern and Okinawa counties about 600 kilometers. The warm climate, the changing coastline stretches out its arms and holds the active volcano on the Kagoshima Bay, Sakuraji. Come to the outskirts of Kagoshima and walk along the road. Under a big tree, there is a simple wooden window under the tree. There are all kinds of vegetables on the window. The price of the dishes is hung on the top of each vegetable. There is a plastic in the lower right corner of the window. box. Not the same, I saw an aunt who passed by the battery car. She picked the vegetables she wanted and put the money in the box. The simple version of the vegetable vending machine is on the side of a country road, and the vegetable fields not far away are fruitful.

Sakurajima is located in Kagoshima Prefecture, Kyushu, Japan. It is a symbolic representative of Kagoshima. It is an active volcano and its volcanic activity is still very active. Sakurajima volcano is composed of Beiyue, Zhongyue and Nanyue. The location is in Kagoshima Bay, facing the Kagoshima Bay in the west, south and north, the Dagu Peninsula in the east, and Kagoshima Bay in the west about 4 km from the Kagoshima City, and Kagoshima. There is a Sakurajima ferry between the city.
After leaving Sakurajima, we came to the Kagoshima viewing platform, where we can overlook the night view of the whole city. The night is full of people, so thank you for meeting you in this city.
For all sorts of reasons, there is not much affection for Japan, and this trip to Japan allowed me to see a different Japan. Tossing the national origins, there are so many moving places here, in the moment of inadvertent.

Kagoshima, Japan is the southernmost county in Kyushu, Japan. It has various characteristic islands such as the world heritage Yakushima, volcanoes such as Sakurajima, dense forests, rich hot springs, etc., with colorful natural scenery and individuality. It is one of the few sightseeing counties in Japan and one of the birthplaces of ancient Japanese culture.
Sitting next to the volcanic island by the sea, quietly thinking about life, the autumn wind is rising, this is about our summer memories.
I can think of the most romantic thing, that is, to grow old with the people I like, to see the clouds and clouds, to know the sea and the rocks, to smash the storm and the double rainbow next to the Japanese volcano, waiting at the sea level. Sunrise and sunset are not lucky people. Every good encounter is a gift from God.
Amy..
The volcano of Sakurajima can only be seen from afar. The city of Kagoshima is under volcanic volcanoes. The whole city is covered with volcanic ash. The people who have lived in the local area for more than ten years have always introduced the windows of every household in Kagoshima. In the closed state, the volcano of Sakurajima will erupt more than four kilometers to be broadcast on Japanese TV news. The eruption of several hundred meters is a common practice for local people. We just arrived at Kagoshima and saw a volcanic eruption on the deck of the cruise.
Sakurajima volcano, a symbolic representation of Kagoshima, formed about 26,000 years ago and was originally a submarine volcano. Sakuraji is only 4 kilometers away from downtown Kagoshima. Sometimes you can see the smog of the crater, and the white clouds floating over Sakurajima are often volcanic clouds. The smog that is constantly changing in the sakura of the Sakurajima is the most important scenery here. It can be said that Sakuraji has made the charm of Kagoshima.
It is recommended to go to the Chengshan Observatory to get a panoramic view of Kagoshima. If you want to board Sakurajima, you need to take a ferry.
The ferry between Kagoshima Port and Sakurajima Port is operated 24 hours a day. About 15 minutes by ferry from the city, you come to the foot of the volcano. This ferry is not only for people, but cars, trucks and even tour buses will take the ferry to Sakurajima. Therefore, the general sightseeing group may sit directly on the tour bus and take a ferry to Sakurajima.
chenhaowen.
Take the Star Cruises Virgo and start a 6-day, 5-night trip to Japan from Shanghai. Due to the typhoon, the original Kobe-Kagoshima food tour was forced to change to Fukuoka-Kagoshima. Although the sea is full of wind and waves, causing the ship to sway, but it is nothing to say about the wave height experienced by the Antarctic Drake Strait.
After 18 hours of sailing from Fukuoka, I finally arrived in Kagoshima. This small city dominated by agriculture has a resident population of more than 600,000, which is also very powerful. The most famous of Kagoshima is the Sakurajima volcano, which erupts from time to time every day. It is also very spectacular.
The first stop comes to the Sakurajima volcano Hill Observatory, which overlooks the entire Kagoshima Panorama. It is opposite the Sakurajima volcano. If you are lucky, you can see the splendour of the volcanic eruption.
The second stop, we took the ferry directly to the Sakurajima volcano. The ferry took about 15 minutes to come to the volcanic island. The best and most authentic hot springs in the area must be missed. This hot spring is different from other hot springs. Visitors must be completely stripped and cleaned before they can soak in the pool. It is still a bit unaccustomed to the Chinese people. However, the hot springs are really good. After the hot springs and then go to the cold springs, the cycle is alternating and very comfortable. After the bubble is finished, you can taste the local cuisine of Sakurajima.
The third stop, of course, buy and buy, return to Kagoshima from Sakurajima, and go straight to the AEON shopping mall where the locals will come. The products are complete, from cosmeceuticals to clothes and food. It is worth visiting.
It took only a few hours to get off the boat. Although you can't fully appreciate the beauty of Kagoshima, you can regret it next time.
Tips: Sakurajima volcano will often erupt, so pay attention to volcanic ash, if you accidentally enter the eyes, don't use your hands to lick, it is easy to cause damage.
