The intricate facade and famous sculpted heads left me in awe. Inside, the play of light through the high ceilings created a serene atmosphere. Climbing the tower rewarded me with breathtaking views of Šibenik and the Adriatic. The history and craftsmanship are mesmerizing—a must-see in Croatia! St. Jacob's Cathedral is the greatest work of the Croatian Renaissance, built between 1431 and 1536. The original design was to build a simple church with a nave, but later a transept, a semicircular dome, an inner hall, and a baptistery were added. The ancient building's dome has a decorative band of 74 half-portraits. The entire church is built of limestone and marble from the island of Brač. The lower part of the church is typical of the late Gothic style, while the dome is in the Renaissance style.

The church is made entirely of rock and unique architectural techniques were used to build the cathedral's vaults and domes. The most special one is the church's central brow, which is decorated with 71 faces of men, women and children in different shapes.
