Explore the fairy-tale town in Switzerland, enjoy the picturesque scenery, and feed marmots.
Saas-Fee is located in the center of Saas Valley in Valais, Switzerland. Before the 14th century, there was only one Saas tribe in Saas Valley, which consisted of four villages, with Saas-Fee being the most famous. The town is at an average altitude of 1,800 meters and is surrounded by more than 10 magnificent snow-capped mountains over 4,000 meters high. As more than 20 glaciers flow down from the top of the mountain to the foot of the mountain, it is also known as the "Glacier Village".
Saas-Fee has breathtaking natural landscapes such as mountains and glaciers, and is known as the "Pearl of the Alps". As one of the famous resorts in the Alps, visitors can enjoy magnificent scenery here in both summer and winter.
This time, we revisited Saas-Fee and chose to stay in Saas-Grund, which is not far from Saas-Fee. The mountain scenery here is beautiful. You can ski in winter and hike in summer. It is known as the "Pearl of Hiking".
Saas-Grund is slightly lower than Saas-Fee. We took the cable car to the top of the mountain at noon that day, had lunch at the restaurant by Kreuzbodensee, and visited Kreuzbodensee. Standing by the lake, you can overlook the panoramic view of Saas-Fee. The town surrounded by mountains is like a cornucopia, with beautiful scenery and a good geomantic treasure. Walking in the mountains and looking at the picturesque scenery is really a feast for the eyes.
The next day, we drove to Saas-Fee. Like Zermatt, it also completely bans gasoline vehicles from entering, and the transportation tools in the village are electric vehicles. Entering the town, the characteristic European old buildings are integrated, the streets and windows are blooming with flowers, and the colors are colorful. The town surrounded by towering and magnificent snow-capped mountains not only shows an ancient and mysterious atmosphere, but also reveals a quiet and elegant charm.
Although Saas-Fee is not as famous as Zermatt, the small Saas-Fee has several world's best. Here are the world's highest cable car railway "Alpine Metro"; the world's highest revolving restaurant "Allalin Revolving Restaurant"; the world's largest ice palace "Saas-Fee Ice Palace"; the world's best ski resort, many world-famous skiing champions and first-class masters choose to train here all year round.
We took the cable car and climbed to the Viewpoint Glacier Längfluh viewing platform at an altitude of 2,869 meters. Here you can overlook the beautiful scenery of the town of Saas-Fee surrounded by continuous snow-capped mountains, and you can also enjoy the majestic view of the Fei Glacier up close. In addition to viewing and taking pictures, if you have enough time, you can also sign up to let a professional guide take you to experience glacier hiking and deeply appreciate various amazing natural creations such as ridges, ice cracks, and ice crystals.
Coming down from the mountain, we hiked through the town and took the cable car from the other side to the Viewpoint Hannig viewing platform. After lunch at the Bergrestaurant Hannig mountain restaurant, we chose to hike down the mountain, along the winding primitive mountain road, all the way to the picturesque scenery, but the mountain road is rugged, it is recommended to wear hiking shoes.
After walking down to the town, on a large piece of wilderness at the foot of the mountain, countless marmots live. This is also a good place to feed marmots locally. The round and chubby marmots are hiding in the hole, and some are wandering on the ground, with a cute look, very cute.
