One of the 100 most famous waterfalls in Japan Meteor in the mountains of Hokkaido
The steep cliffs of Sounkyo in Daikokusan National Park are etched out by rivers and feature many waterfalls. Among them, the well-known Meteorite Falls and Ginga Falls are listed among the top 100 waterfalls in Japan. Meteor Falls is like a meteor shining in the night sky. Unfortunately, in winter, both the reservoir and the river are frozen, so you can only look at the icicles. The best time to see it is in summer.

Meteor Falls. Galaxy Falls. Obako
If you continue towards Ishikari River from Daisetsuzan, you can see Yuseong Falls and Galaxy Falls. They say it's about 200 meters above ground. The snow hasn't melted yet, so I haven't seen the graceful rain. It seems that the Ainu people hunted bears to get food in the past. You can see bear-related souvenirs here and there. If you go about 20 minutes more from Yuseong Falls, you'll come across a long tunnel, and when you pass through the tunnel, you'll come across a columnar joint called obako. It's said to have been formed about 20,000 years ago. When the snow melts, you should definitely walk through the valley. There's still about 1 meter of snow, so my sneakers are all wet. #Obako

Galaxy Meteor Falls
Meteor Falls cascades down from a 90-meter-high cliff, like a galloping army! To its left is the 120-meter-long Milky Way Waterfall, which looks like a stream of water pulled by silver threads. These two waterfalls were selected as one of Japan's 100 waterfalls and are collectively called "Meeting Falls".

【Meteor Falls】Amazing and spectacular
The water source of Meteor Falls comes from the river upstream of the mountain area. The waterfall cascades down from the top of the mountain wall, with an astonishing drop of nearly 100 meters. The roar of the waterfall is deafening and the momentum is indescribable. The water column rushes down from the mountain wall, and scatters into countless water droplets in the air, pouring down like a meteor shower, dazzling and spectacular.
Below the waterfall is a solitary pool of clear green water, with the surface of the pool reflecting the waterfall and the green mountains and forests, forming a dreamy natural ecological landscape. In summer or on rainy days, the water level of the waterfall surges, making the entire scenery even more majestic and breathtaking.
