Zen Vibes & Spring Blooms
#springitinerary If you’re in Shizuoka this spring and want a chill spot with some cool history, Ryōtan-ji Temple in Hamamatsu is where to go. It was founded way back in 733 by the monk Gyōki and has been the spiritual home for the Ii family for over 40 generations. The main hall, built in 1676, even has “nightingale floors” that chirp when you walk on them, old security, ninja style.
Springtime turns the garden into a legit floral paradise. Designed by the famous Kobori Enshu, the garden features a pond shaped like the kanji for “heart” (心), surrounded by azaleas and mossy rocks. It’s super zen and perfect for kicking back and soaking up peaceful vibes.
Whether you’re into history, nature, or just need a quiet break, Ryōtan-ji is the kind of spot where time slows and spring magic happens.
