Autumn leaves at Menushoro Swamp
Oniwaki Menushoro Swamp
It is located on the route from Oshidomari Port, where the ferry from Wakkanai arrives, to Kutsugata via Oniwaki and Senboshi.
Menushoro Swamp is located in Minamihama Marsh, a designated natural monument in Rishiri-Fuji Town. It is a small 6-hectare marsh.
Wooden boards have been laid out around the marsh, allowing you to stroll around.
They say that autumn in Hokkaido passes in the blink of an eye, but I was lucky enough to visit during the autumn foliage season.
The grass growing around the marsh has turned yellow with the arrival of autumn.
From afar, it looks like it is shining gold, which is beautiful.
The weather was good and there was no wind, so the water was a beautiful mirror, and Rishiri-Fuji was reflected beautifully.
The trees around the marsh had not yet turned color, but if you go a little further up the mountain, you will see beautiful autumn leaves.
This marsh is commonly called Menushoro, but in Ainu language it is called Menushoro.
It means Izumi-numa, having, inside the bay, or bad, inside the bay. There is an area called Numaura nearby, and there are many swamps, including Mikazuki-numa and Otatomari-numa.
Otatomari-numa is a famous tourist spot where tourist buses always stop.
There is a souvenir exhibition, so there are many tourists, but here there are not many people.
Since there are no people, you can see wild birds resting their wings, playing, and eating.
Recommended for those who want to take pictures quietly and slowly, and those who want to observe migratory birds and wild birds!
