[2025 Ipoh Restaurant] Travel Guide for Restoran Chooi Yue Dim Sum (Updated May)

1 of the better dim sum restaurants in Ipoh. Gets really crowded quick. And stays crowded throughout the entire morning. Grab your queue number first before anything else. We waited for about 30mins for a table of 6. Would presume that is rather fast already. There is a good variety of dim sums. Everything was good. Really loved the ice white coffee which was brewed and packaged in bottles. The crispy dim sums were on point especially the beancurd skin prawn roll. The Fei Cui Liu Sha bao is damn good also, the kaya complemented the salted egg lava perfectly. This is my favourite dim sum place in Ipoh, I’ll always come here when I’m back!! This place is always so crowded and the waiting time is normally quite long, can be up to 30 minutes to an hour during peak hour or weekend. So, the good news is they just opened up another floor, so it’s a two storey dim sum place now! It was my first time sitting at second floor. The best dim sum here are the har gao ( the prawn is so fresh and the skin is super thin), salted egg yolk bun ( love how they put the pandan in as well to make it less filling), you tian chee cheong fun ( so special) and the fried carrot cake ( so tasty and the bean sprout make it crunchier)! The service here is good as well, all staff are very attentive and price are quite reasonable. Highly recommend this place!

There are many dim sum restaurants in Ipoh but Chooi Yue Dim sum is my solid favourite whenever I’m back in Ipoh, all the dim sum here are freshly made and very tasty. The dim sum here also tasted very authentic, feel like those I’ve eaten in Hong Kong. The ambience here is very nice, feels like a legit “cha lou “ for dim sum, they also expended this place, so there is a second floor now. Just take note that this place can be very crowded, so make sure to take a queue number when you’re here. Sometimes the queue can be up to 1 hour or more. The chee Chong fun here is so nice, so smooth and tasty! Must ask for their belacan sauce. My favourite item here is the landan custard bun, this is the only place that serve salted egg yolk bun with pandan, so flavourful and yummy!! Anyways, it’s a really nice place. Must visit this place when you’re visiting Ipoh!

It’s definitely on our list to do when we visit Ipoh! There are so so many choices and restaurants to be chose from in Ipoh and all comes with pretty good review. We picked Chooi Yue Dim Sum after having a hard time choosing and we were right. We all left with happy and very full tummy. Be sure to get there early as there was already a long queue when we reached around 930 in the morning. Once we got in, we were so spoiled with choices of dim sum! We ordered the classic Char Siew Pau, egg tarts, yam puff, siew mai, carrot cake. My personal favourite would be the liu sha pau that was stuffed with piping hot, smooth, creamy and buttery filling. The fried stuff were also nicely done, those were crispy and fragrant. Not forget to mention, the price point was very very reasonable! I can’t praise enough for this restaurant. All in all, I highly recommend a visit to Chooi Yue restaurant for Dim Sum if you are in Ipoh ! It’s definitely worth the wait. #ipohfoodie #ipohdimsum #ipohtravel

Nice dim sum but need to queue for 30-45min, be there early around 7am if possible then the queue not long.many local ppl favorite place but pack with tourists also like this place. The food is nice, I like the siew mai taste very chewy, chicken leg claw tender and juicy in flavor, shrimp dumplings also nice the prawn is very fresh. The price of the dim sum is not expansive.. to me is worth it😁
