Not an AI-generated game, but a 500-million-year-old seabed world.
Redstone forests in China are mainly distributed in Hunan, Hubei, Guizhou, and Chongqing, with a higher concentration near the Youshui River basin.
The most surprising place on a trip to Western Hunan is the Redstone Forest, a 400-million-year-old Ordovician seabed world.
The Redstone Forest rocks have a formation history of about 500 million years. The Redstone Forest region and the Zuolongxi Canyon belong to the same geological period known as the Yangtze Paleo-Sea. The seabed deposited a large amount of mixed mud and sand carbonate material. Through crustal movement and erosion and dissolution, this beautiful geological wonder was formed.
The color of the Guzhang Redstone Forest changes with the weather. On a sunny day, it will be more reddish, and on a rainy day, it will be reddish-brown and slightly black.
📍Navigate to Hunan Xiangxi Guzhang Redstone Forest, a 30-minute drive from Furong Town
🎫Ticket: CNY 120/person, it is recommended to consider the Xiangxi All-Region Tourism Annual Card or buy a package ticket with Furong Town for CNY 160, which is more cost-effective.
🗺️Tour route: Yangtze Paleo-Sea - Human Pool - Ordovician Seabed - Flower Package - Ice Stone Couple - Observation Deck - Eight Great Gods - Fossil Zone - Lucky Gate - Heavenly Pool - Seabed Tunnel
⌛️Play time: about 1-2 hours
🚗Transportation: No need to book a car, call the staff of Furong Town Bus Station and they will pick you up. I called at 11:00 am, and it took about 10 minutes to arrive. One-way single person is CNY 15 (I asked for a chartered car for about CNY 180). The bus ride to Redstone Forest takes about 40 minutes. It will drive directly to the outside of the Redstone Forest Scenic Area and wait for you to finish your tour in the scenic area parking lot. You can leave your bags in the car or store them in the scenic area. The bus will return to Furong Town at around 3:00 pm. If you finish your tour early, the car may leave with you early.

Not a game AI, but a 500 million-year-old underwater world! Hi, electronic besties.
China's red stone forests are mainly concentrated in Hunan, Hubei, Guizhou, and Chongqing, especially around the Youshui River basin. The rocks of the red stone forests were formed about 500 million years ago, and this area, along with the Zuolongxi Canyon, was located in the Yangtze Sea during the geological history. At that time, a large amount of carbonate material mixed with mud and sand was deposited on the seabed. After crustal movements and erosion and dissolution, this amazing geological wonder was created.
✨The color of Guzhang Red Stone Forest changes with the weather! On sunny days, the rocks are reddish; on rainy days, they are reddish brown, or even a bit black. So be careful when you visit!
📍Navigate to Guzhang Red Stone Forest in Xiangxi, Hunan, which is only a half-hour drive from Furong Town.
🎟The ticket price is CNY120 per person, but it is recommended to consider the Xiangxi All-Region Tourist Annual Pass, which is more cost-effective.
🗺Recommended tour route: Yangtze Sea → Human Pool → Ordovician Seabed → Flower Package → Ice Stone Couple → Observation Deck → Eight Great Gods → Fossil Area → Lucky Gate → Tianchi → Underwater Tunnel.
⏳The tour time is about 1 to 2 hours.
💖Perfect one-day tour: Visit the Red Stone Forest in the morning and Furong Town in the afternoon to enjoy the beautiful scenery and dazzling night view of Furong Town.
I hope you all have good weather and take beautiful photos! 😉

Rare Wonder: Red Rock Geopark
#nationalparks
The Red Stone Forest National Geopark is located in the village of Jitong and Duanlong of the Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Region, in Hunan Province in south-central China. The park covers an area of 20 square kilometers, it stretches on the banks of the Yuoshui River, opposite the famous ancient town of Fuzhong. In 2012, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China awarded the park the status of AAAA scenic area.
The main feature of the national geopark is the natural red stone forest, formed during the Ordovician period (from 500 to 425 million years ago). Fossils of ancient animals are found here and there in the park, looking extremely realistic. One of the attractions of the park is the Corner Stone, also known as the "Stone Pagoda" or "Chinese Corner Stone", which is an extremely important fossil for scientific research and stratigraphy - determining the relative geological age of various geological formations.
Another distinctive feature of the park is its deep caves and endless rows of red carbonate stones, the color of which varies depending on the weather and temperature. In summer, with the appearance of the hot sun, their color turns into a fiery red. On a cloudy day, it changes to burgundy and purple, and during a rainy day, the stones turn black.
In addition to its important role in geological research, the park is also valuable in the tourism sector - karst formations, canyons, caves, lakes and waterfalls collected on its territory are unique scenic attractions. Folk customs and art of local residents living in the surrounding areas, such as the original dances "Maogusa" and "Waving", are included in the intangible cultural heritage of the state level. Thus, after visiting the park, you can not only get aesthetic pleasure by observing the natural landscapes and the unique way of life of national minorities, but also get acquainted with their history and culture.
Red Stone Forest Park is 82 km from Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport and 27 km from the Guzhang exit of Zhangjiajie-Huayuan Highway, between Zhangjiajie and the ancient city of Fenghuang. To get to the park, the most convenient departure point will be Zhangjiajie City. The trip to the park takes about 2-3 hours. When departing Zhangjiajie at 8 or 9 a.m., you will have enough time to visit the park and Fuzhong City and then return to Zhangjiajie or continue your trip to the ancient city of Fenghuang.

Must-Visit Spots in Mysterious Xiangxi|Don't Miss These Places
Xiangxi has always been shrouded in mystery. It is the secluded yet romantic place depicted in Shen Congwen's writings. When traveling to Xiangxi, be sure not to miss these treasure destinations.
1. Furong Town
This is an ancient town with a history of over two thousand years, suspended above a waterfall. No matter where you walk in the town, you can hear the echoes of the waterfall.
At night, the town lights up one by one, and the night view here is truly wonderful, as if you have entered the world of Spirited Away.
2. Red Stone Forest
This place is relatively close to Furong Ancient Town, so you can visit them together. It is known as the 'First Wonder of Wuling,' featuring canyons, karst caves, lakes, springs, and waterfalls... Experience the charm of natural mountain wonders.
3. Qianzhou Ancient City
A city with half mountains and half rivers, half bustling and half serene.
Qianzhou Ancient City is more about tranquility. The Ming bricks, Qing tiles, and horsehead walls carry the passage of time.
4. Phoenix Ancient City
The Phoenix Ancient City in Xiangxi is very famous. The ancient city during the day and at night are completely different. Walking on the bluestone roads of the ancient city, each stone slab seems to whisper, telling stories of a thousand years.

Poor Travel Log 039——Exploring the Millennium Danxia Landform in Western Hunan
The Spectacular Journey of the Red Stone Forest.
Hello, everyone, I am Xiao Qiu, today I share with you the Red Stone Forest in Western Hunan
The Red Stone Forest National Geopark is located in Guzhang County, Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Hunan Province, situated at the central node of the Zhangjiajie-Fenghuang golden tourism corridor. It borders Yuanling County to the east, neighbors Luxi and Jishou counties to the south, and is bounded by the You River and Yongshun County to the north. It faces the famous Furong Town across the river. The rocks of the Red Stone Forest were formed about 450 million years ago and are red carbonate rock forests that have undergone a long geological formation. This area is known for its unique karst landforms, canyons, caves, lakes, springs, and waterfalls, and is of great geological research and aesthetic value. It is also located in the Cambrian Guzhangian stage, within the range of the 'Golden Spike' profile, and is one of the most precious geological relics in China and the world. The Red Stone Forest is a type of karst landform that is more commonly found in the provinces of Yunnan and Guizhou in China, but they are mostly grey rock forests. The Guzhang Red Stone Forest, with its 'red skin color', is the only one of its kind in the country and is currently the only red carbonate rock forest formed in the Cambrian period in the world.
Here, you can witness the underwater wonders of 500 million years ago, touch the fossils of ancient creatures with your own hands, and truly feel the transformation of the sea into mulberry fields. It also belongs to the ancient Yangtze Sea, which is the largest and most typical Ordovician sedimentary stratum in the world. After years of seawater erosion and cutting, and the sculpting of time, the stone pillars and peaks have formed in various shapes, spectacular and magnificent, and are known as China's most beautiful geological park.
🌟🌟🌟🌟Attraction Check-in Strategy:
✅Ordovician Seabed
A vast and boundless underwater spectacle, it is considered the jewel of the Red Stone Forest. It is like an army ready to go, with soldiers neatly arranged, majestic and powerful, hence it is also known as the Stone Soldiers Formation.
✅Heavenly Pool
After billions of years of wind and rain, this clear and green natural spring has been created. Surrounded by bizarre rocks, the red stones and green water intertwine into a beautiful painting, as if it is the masterpiece of nature's craftsmanship.
✅Five Golden Flowers
On both sides of the Heavenly Pool, five huge stone pillars rise from the ground, like five budding lotuses. They are arranged from high to low, each with a different shape, just like blooming flowers, adding endless vitality to this land.
✅Ice Stone Couple
Walking on the stone forest path of the Ordovician seabed, it feels like being in a maze. After passing through the winding path, the view suddenly opens up, and a sea of flowers comes into view. In this sea of flowers, two giant stones lean against each other, like a loving couple. They are about five meters tall, with lifelike shapes, as if telling a love story that lasts for billions of years.
✅Xiaolong Gorge
This is a magical 'One Line Sky' landscape, like a natural air-conditioned room. Through the narrow stone steps, you come to a long stone passage. The narrowest part only allows one person to pass sideways, making one marvel at the magic and grandeur of nature.
📍Red Stone Forest Village, Guzhang County, Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Hunan
💰Ticket price: 120 yuan per person

Guzhang | A Must-Visit Attraction in Western Hunan | Hongshilin National Geopark
I finally made it to the other side of the Anywhere Door, Guzhang in Western Hunan, to explore the undersea world of the Ordovician period, five hundred million years ago. Here's a recommended guide for visiting the Hongshilin National Geopark:
Hongshilin National Geopark, a 4A-level scenic spot, turns red when the sky is clear and black when it rains. The phenomenon of 'clear red, rainy black' is like natural magic, utterly fascinating; the scenery is beautiful, the landscape is pleasant, and the natural wonders are so captivating that you'll never want to leave.
The Hongshilin National Geopark features pristine natural scenery, with a landscape of layered wave-like stone forest formations that amaze with nature's craftsmanship. The air is fresh, the environment is extremely comfortable, and the pure natural scenery allows you to experience the unpredictability of nature, with healing colors that intoxicate the senses. It's like having a natural filter that makes everything look incredibly beautiful.
The Hongshilin National Geopark is full of charm, as if walking in a fairyland. There are folk song performances within the park that are very pleasant to listen to. The park truly lives up to its reputation, with broad vistas perfect for leisure, photography, and checking in. It's a great place to relax and the experience is unforgettable.
Food recommendation: Hualanzhai Local Cuisine Restaurant
Accommodation recommendation: Xiangxi Hongshilin Hotel
Location: Hualan Village, Guzhang County, Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture
Transportation: Self-driving is recommended for convenience in parking.

Furong Town | A wonderland of chaotic management
| A wonderland of managed chaos. |||D1: Arrive at Furong Town Station in the afternoon - Furong Town Night View - Furong Town Performance
D2: Furong Town-Youshui Gallery-Red Stone Forest-High Speed Rail
·Special dishes: blood cake duck, bacon, duck feet, wild vegetables, glutinous rice cake
----Furong Town----
·The town is very small and can be visited in 3 hours. The jump above the falls is closed at night, but the route below the falls that passes behind the falls is open all day.
·The scenery of the waterfall town is very unique, and the photos are very photogenic. In Shenpuying Square, you can see the panoramic view of the waterfall.
·Nothing good except for the scenery, the management is quite chaotic. Regarding how to purchase the boat ticket, the three staff members had different opinions.
·In addition, the historical cultural attractions such as Tusi Palace, Xizhou Bronze Pillars, and Tusi Temple are not open to the public. I don’t know what the scenic spots think.
----Youshui Gallery----
· Youshui Gallery can only purchase a boat ticket, which takes 1 hour one way to reach the Red Stone Forest. After visiting the Red Stone Forest, you can take the shuttle bus back to Furong Town for 30 minutes.
·Furong Town was a city during the Qin and Han Dynasties, also known as Youyang. With the help of You River, it connects to Sichuan and Guizhou and down to Dongting, which has earned the reputation of "Chu and Shu connect to Tianjin". You can revisit the path of the ancients by boat.
·If you are lucky, you can see little monkeys chasing the boat on the shore midway. But the scenery behind it is somewhat monotonous.
----Red Stone Forest----
·It is worth visiting if you are interested in geology. The development of the park is very interesting. The towering red carbonate rock forest is divided into upper and lower levels for tours, including different landforms such as stone forests, canyons, and caves. And these are just the tip of the iceberg of what was once the Ordovician seabed.
·On the rock surfaces and floor tiles in the scenic area, you can also see marine life fossils such as hornstones.
·The 60rmb instructor will paddle the entire course. The promised 1.5-hour explanation was compressed to 40 minutes. The experience was extremely poor.
·The return time of the shuttle bus was very different from what the scenic area staff said. The return time was 30 minutes earlier, and it was impossible to finish the park.
----Purchase tickets----
·There are 3 types of tickets:
1. Tickets to Furong Town are valid for 2 days
2. Tickets to Furong Town are valid for 2 days + tickets to Red Stone Forest
3. Tickets to Furong Town are valid for 2 days + tickets to Youshui Gallery + tickets to Red Stone Forest
·Ticket 2 is suitable for self-driving or shuttle bus; Ticket 3 includes a 1-hour cruise to the Red Stone Forest and a 30-minute shuttle ride back to Furong Town.
·It is recommended to do it in one step, otherwise it will be much more expensive to make up the tickets later.
· During the period of ticket 51, the boat only leaves three times a day. You need to go to the visitor center to ask about the boat schedule first to avoid missing it.
----Performance----
·There are multiple performances a day in Furong Town, all of which are free. After watching the performance in Zhangjiajie, I found that the performance in Furong Town was completely different in terms of setting, arrangement, and actors.

The Red Stone Forest Scenic Area, about 15 kilometers away from Furong Town, was once the bottom of the Ordovician hundreds of millions of years ago. Later, under the erosion of seawater rain, a unique karst landform was formed, and the red color formed by iron elements has Danxia landform. The feeling, hence the name Red Stone Forest. It is a surprise to see such a landscape for the first time in the karst landform that has passed.
It is a pity that when we went, it happened to rain, and the Red Stone Forest became a black stone forest, but it was still amazed by the magical nature of nature. The red stone forest will be much more beautiful than the rain on a sunny day. The best tourist season is summer, and the garden will be filled with small flowers. The ticket is 120 yuan.
