Red Lotus Sea, Nong Han Kumphawapi

Located in Nong Han Lake, a large natural freshwater source covering an area of over 36 square kilometers, it is rich in many species of fish, birds, and aquatic plants. It has a unique ecosystem and has been of interest to both domestic and international scholars who have continuously come to study and research it. During December to February of each year, the red lotus flowers are in full bloom. Tourists will see red lotus flowers blooming across the entire surface of Nong Han Lake as far as the eye can see, hence the name “Red Lotus Sea.” If you are interested in seeing various scenery within Nong Han Lake, such as species of birds or aquatic plants, you can take a boat tour all day long. The best time to take a boat tour of the Red Lotus Sea is between 06.00 and 11.00 AM, as this is the time when the red lotus flowers are in bloom. There are boats for hire to take you to see the Red Lotus Sea and the scenery in Nong Han Lake. Board at Ban Diem Pier, Chiang Wa Subdistrict. Boats are available every day from 6:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
