Hey guys, if you love diving, Phuket is a paradise you can't miss! Today, I'm sharing my Phuket diving trip with you. Nine dives in three days, full of surprises, guaranteed to make you want to set off right away! Day 1: Racha Yai and Racha Noi - A Beginner-Friendly Dream Start Racha Yai and Racha Noi are perfect for the first day of fun diving. The waters here are warm and comfortable, with super high visibility, as if the entire underwater world is unveiled before your eyes. For my first dive, I used 4kg of weight, but the descent was a bit fast. I adjusted it to 3kg later, which was just right. Although I didn't encounter any big creatures on the first day, there were quite a few moray eels, swimming among the reefs in a very interesting way. And I was super lucky that the dive guide spoke Chinese, so communication was smooth, and he was very nice. The first day's experience was fantastic! Day 2: King Cruiser Wreck, Shark Point, Koh Dok Mai - Thrills and Surprises Today's dive guide, Pop, spoke English throughout, which made communication a little difficult, but he was definitely the best dive guide I've ever met! On every dive, he could spot so many interesting things that I couldn't take my eyes off them. I was so excited! The currents at the King Cruiser Wreck and Shark Point were very strong, and I had to kick hard. Fortunately, Pop, the dive guide, kept pulling me forward. This was my first time seeing a shipwreck, and the sense of history and the mysterious atmosphere amazed me. I also experienced the thrill of cave diving, feeling like an explorer! Even more surprisingly, I saw leopard sharks, small seahorses, and super tiny, flower-like sea slugs. They were so cute! Thanks to Pop, the dive guide, I saw so many wonderful marine creatures. Day 3: Phi Phi Islands, Second Dive at Shark Point - Revisiting the Beauty, Encountering Sea Turtles Today's dive guide only spoke a little Chinese, and the experience was slightly worse compared to the previous day. They didn't really help us find things. However, the charm of Phi Phi Islands is irresistible. Here, I saw blacktip reef sharks, and even more luckily, I encountered sea turtles! The excitement of seeing sea turtles swimming leisurely in the water is beyond words. During my second dive at Shark Point, I took another photo with the leopard shark. I felt closer to it this time. Three days, nine dives, passed by in a flash. This Phuket diving trip was truly amazing. Not only did I see the sea turtles I'd been longing for, but I also experienced countless exciting and unexpected moments. Although it was a bit challenging for me, as I tend to get seasick, all the discomfort disappeared once we arrived. The beauty and charm of the underwater world made me feel like I was living in a fairy tale. 🏝️🌊 The instructor took me to a depth of nearly 12 meters, and I was instantly captivated by my first diving experience. Next time I visit Phuket, I will definitely get certified and continue exploring this mysterious underwater world. 🤿 This diving experience was perfect in every way: safety, happiness, and excitement! The Chinese instructor provided one-on-one guidance and was very responsible, while the Thai instructor captured many precious moments throughout the journey. 📸 If you want to dive, you must experience it yourself and not be swayed by negative reviews. This time in Phuket, I had a new experience. 👍 I joined a diving experience course at Racha Island and Coral Island. In the morning, a private car picked us up and took us to the pier. After a brief introduction, we set off for Racha Yai Island. The diving school groups students based on their experience, with one instructor leading two to three students. The instructor is also responsible for checking the equipment and underwater photography, so even those without diving experience can join. The water at Racha Island is clear with high visibility. At a depth of 10 meters, you can see a variety of tropical fish 🐠, coral reefs 🪸, and even a sunken ship and a motorcycle 🛵. As a diving newbie 🤿, I got to see a different underwater world. 😍😍 After lunch 🥣, we headed to our second stop, Coral Island. Here, you can pay extra for activities like underwater walking, parasailing, banana boating, snorkeling, or just relax at the beach bar for half a day. How can you go to Phuket and not play in the water? This time we signed up for a one-day tour to experience diving in Phuket. This time we found the dive shop Love Diving on the Internet, which has different itineraries. We chose to dive a total of 3 times in Racha Noi and Yai! They include hotel pick up and drop off. We got on the bus at 7 o'clock in the morning and set out for diving! The pier was full of divers and our instructor was an Australian. Therefore, there is no big problem in communication. After the boat starts, the coach will first give us lessons and tell us what we should pay attention to. Especially how to deal with water pressure and different underwater gestures are very clear! Soon we arrived at the first dive site. Put on your diving suit and equipment, and jump in to enjoy the underwater world🤍 The water here is not super clear, but the ecology is very rich 🤍 There are a lot of fish and corals. We were also lucky enough to see a manta ray! After the first dive, the boatman provided us with a variety of food to choose from. And the taste is also great 👍🏼 The second and third dives were also very good. The instructor took us to different places based on our condition. Felt safe too! Koh Racha Yai, the flat area next to the sea, has been developed by locals and investors into accommodation and restaurants to accommodate tourists. Koh Racha Yai consists of Ao Patok on the west side between the valleys, in the shape of a horseshoe, Ao Siam is the longest bay on the island, and Ao Khon Kae on the east side of the island, suitable for snorkeling to see corals such as staghorn corals and soft corals. It is one of the most complete coral diving spots. Koh Racha Yai has dense coral formations, except for the southwest side which has rocky features. Corals can be found in the bay area. The total coral reef area is approximately 267 rai. The coral reef is approximately 200 meters wide and the edge of the coral reef ends at a depth of approximately 10 meters. Raya Island, also known as Racha island, is a small island in the Andaman Sea, located about 12 kilometers south of Phuket, Thailand. Raya Island has two smaller islands – Koh Racha Yai and Koh Racha Noi. These two also go by the names Koh Raya Yai and Koh Raya Noi respectively. So to distinguish which is which, ‘Yai’ in Thai means ‘Big’ whereas Noi means ‘little’. Both small islands have crystal clear waters and white sandy beaches. These islands are infamous for being excellent diving and snorkeling spots in Thailand because they are host to challenging diving sites which are very popular with beginners and advanced divers. This small little island is the closest to Phuket, about an hour speedboat ride. If you are planning on staying overnight at Raya Island, this is where you will find all the resorts. There are 3 resorts on the island namely, The Racha Phuket Resort, Baan Raya Resort and Bungalow Raya Resort. Just like the other islands in the area, Raya island is very popular for day trips. We did a day tour from Kata Beach and thoroughly enjoyed the snorkelling, scuba diving and buffet lunch provided. It gets quite busy in the afternoon hours but at night, it’s pretty serene as it only hosts a few bars and restaurants. Getting to these two islands from Phuket is easy. Usually, tour operators and travel agents organize all-inclusive day trips. You can also charter long-tail and speedboats from Rawai or Chalong Pier. It takes about 2 hours via a long tail boat whereas speedboats take an hour. Make sure you check the availability and the conditions of the island before booking. And if you are planning on snorkelling which I highly recommend, remember to carry things like sunglasses, sunscreen, towel, a sun cap and of course your snorkelling gear. They are also provided at no fee from tour operators and fins can be rented at 100 thb. For hygiene reasons, I prefer to bring my own snorkelling gear.
