Bangkok Benjakitti Park Night Run Experience
Time: July 2024
Location (Transportation): It takes about 15-20 minutes to walk from S31 Hotel to Asok BTS Station (also a subway station). One side of the BTS station leads to Terminal 21 shopping mall, and you can walk to the park from the other side.
This park is said to be the original factory area of the Thai Tobacco Company.
Later, the land was donated to the Thai government (royal family?) and converted into a park. Next to it is the Queen Sirikit National Exhibition Center. There is a large lake, which will be put into use in 2023. There is also a sky bridge. It is said that this is a place where Thai Internet beauties love to take pictures. 😄
I had a weekend off for a business trip, and decided to set out on Saturday evening. I checked and found that one lap would be about 3-5km, so I wanted to try a tropical night run.
When we arrived, the sun had not yet completely set, so the visibility was good and it didn't feel too remote or dangerous. It was getting dark while I was running. Some places were less crowded. If you are worried about your personal safety, I suggest you go with a friend. In addition to walking around the lake to see the night view of the city, I ran into the sky bridge and some bushes inside, and also ran a lot along the way. There are also bicycle lanes and bicycle rentals here, but I didn’t see anyone riding bicycles that day.
Overall, the temperature is almost 28 degrees Celsius and the humidity is quite high, so it is a bit difficult. Remember to bring a water bottle to replenish water in time.
After running, you can go to the food court on the upper floor of Terminal 21 for dinner. I later decided to go for MK Thai Hot Pot.
