#chinatrip Qibao Ancient Town is one of the places recommended as a tourist attraction. I, however, found that the area is too dry and hot on September due to less trees around the area compared to Yuyuan Garden. The place is packed full of people and there are tons of street food vendors as well as knick knacks for you to look at, but not a lot of them are interesting enough for me to actually stop and look around inside. The main entrance has a pretty tall bell tower that you can’t miss, and the area unique layout due to waterways around this ancient city makes it a great scenery to take pictures. The downside other than the heat was how green the river is, not exactly algae green but more a muddy green, and the attractions around this ancient city is not exactly open or fun to experience. It’s OK but there are other areas in Shanghai that you might want to visit instead. Plus, the ride to get there was quite far from the central Shanghai area.

Qibao Ancient Town got its name from the Qibao Temple, and by the end of the Yuan Dynasty and the beginning of the Ming Dynasty, it was already a gathering place for merchants and scholars, known far and wide as a major town.
