Dolomites Journey: Day 3 Hiking in the Funes Valley Waking up early and opening the window, I was surprised to find a sea of clouds, so I immediately went out to take some pictures. After breakfast, we set out to hike the Funes Valley, where the typical European natural scenery unfolds: distant mountains and dense forests reaching into the sky, tender green meadows stretching as far as the eye can see, with wooden huts built like blocks in the center of the meadows, and the most eye-catching spot on the slope is a church, the abode of the soul. Although we came in the morning and didn't see the light of the Alps under the sunset, the scenery with the mist swirling around was also very beautiful, The fourth picture is the most famous photo spot in the town, but unfortunately, there was fog, and it was early in the morning, so the photo was not very ideal tips: Funes Valley is a valley under the highest peak of the Dolomites, the Geisler Peak, located in the Dolomite region of Italy. Funes Valley is world-renowned because of Geisler Peak. The valley is home to attractions such as the ancient town of Santa Maddalena, the Church of Santa Maddalena, the Church of St. John, and the Puez-Geisler National Park. Reaching Funes Valley is not an easy task, although it is well-known, because public transportation is not very developed, self-driving is the most convenient way to get there.

While hiking in the northern part of Puez-Geisler National Park in the western Dolomites of Italy, I got lost more than once. Sometimes I found myself in the wrong direction and walked back to the right path, while others just went with the flow. The reason was that Google maps were not enough when hiking in the mountains. The hiking map I got from the hotel only had Italian markings, while the map and signboards at the starting point of the hike, Zannes, were in both German and Italian. However, we couldn't find our destination, Rifugio della odle. There was a sign nearby marking Trail 6, but the map at hand marked Trail 33. We were at a loss and took Trail 33, which ended up in Malga Gampen. Fortunately, the scenery along the way was nice, and we stayed in Santa Magdalena after coming down the mountain. This small town at the foot of the Marble Mountain is not large. The Chiesetta di San Giovanni in Ranui is a must-visit place.
