Ferris Wheel @ Prater, VIENNA 🇦🇹
Location: Prater
Address: 1020 Vienna, Austria
Great experience for both children and adults!! It was quite cold the day we visited Prater, therefore we only went on the ferris wheel. The ferris wheel is enclosed but it was quite shaky, all passengers have to balance on both sides haha
NOTE: It can be quite expensive because you pay per attraction
Vienna Tips: Purchase a Vienna Pass, it includes entry tickets for a lot of different attractions including the ferris wheel ride @ Prater (+ no queue for ticket purchase) and free hop on hop off bus that brings you to Prater!!

The Prater is a large public park in Leopoldstadt, Vienna, Austria. The Wurstelprater, an amusement park that is often simply called "Prater", lies in one corner of the Wiener Prater and includes the Wiener Riesenrad Ferris wheel. The area that makes up the modern Prater was first mentioned in 1162, when Emperor Friedrich I gave the land to a noble family called de Prato. The word "Prater" was first used in 1403, originally referring to a small island in the Danube north of Freudenau, but was gradually extended to mean the neighbouring areas as well. The land changed hands frequently until it was bought by Emperor Maximilian II in 1560 to be a hunting ground. To deal with the problem of poachers, Emperor Rudolf II forbade entry to the Prater.

The Wiener Prater is probably the oldest amusement park in Europe. It is famous with the Vienna Wheel. It is located in #vienna #austria not far from the Danube river. The park is open for visitors without entrance fee. You pay only if you ride the attractions. Nice place definitely!

Autumn in Austria is unparalleled 🇦🇹🍂
Autumn in Austria is a season of vibrant transformation, with the landscape ablaze in warm hues of red, orange, and gold. The country’s natural beauty is particularly striking during this time, as the Alps and rolling vineyards undergo a dramatic change. In the countryside, especially in regions like Styria and Lower Austria, vineyards become the focal point, with harvest festivals celebrating the region’s renowned wines, such as Grüner Veltliner and Blaufränkisch. Visitors can experience traditional wine tastings, stroll through grape-laden vines, and enjoy local specialties like roasted chestnuts and pumpkin soup.
In cities like Vienna, the crisp autumn air brings a new energy. The city’s grand parks, including the Prater and Stadtpark, are perfect for leisurely walks beneath canopies of colorful leaves. Vienna’s historic coffeehouses also become cozy refuges, where patrons can enjoy a warm cup of coffee or a slice of Sachertorte.
For outdoor enthusiasts, the Austrian Alps offer excellent hiking opportunities, with trails offering stunning views of snow-capped peaks contrasted against the autumn foliage. As the season progresses, the cool nights make it ideal for enjoying hearty Austrian cuisine, from schnitzel to apple strudel, making autumn in Austria a perfect blend of natural beauty, culture, and culinary delights.

Vienna seen from the Prater Ferris Wheel
#October travel support event
The Ferris wheel that my companions unanimously rode in Prater Park.
I think there was a free/discount benefit with the Vienna Tourist Card.
I wondered what I would see while riding the Ferris wheel,
but surprisingly, I could see far away.
It was a beautiful scenery that even the moonlight blended in well because it was night.

A beautiful park for all age groups. A place where you can't get bored, regardless of age, and where you'll have fun all day. The prices are quite acceptable, but you will not receive a tax receipt and only in a few locations you will be able to pay with a bank card, the agency accepting only cash. In the weekend there are more people, but the waiting time is quite short. The food at the restaurants is very good and plentiful, and you can find juice and water vending machines everywhere. It is also quite clean throughout the park.
One of the most famous amusement parks, the amusement park in Vienna... a good place for fun for both children and adults. To be able to take advantage of the vast majority of the amusements proposed in the park, you must reserve at least half a day. I recommend this place!

Underrated theme park in the centre of Vienna
A completely FREE to enter theme park in the city centre of Vienna was a real surprise and joy to come across during my summer Europe trip. I liked the ability to choose which rides to pay to go on rather than paying an arm and a leg for entry. Would recommend if you’re ever in Vienna!

Prater, Vienna
#bucketlistreboot
The Prater (full name Wurstelprater) is an amusement park, with its best-known attraction – the Wiener Riesenrad, a Ferris wheel. Constructed in 1897, it was the world’s tallest extant Ferris wheel from 1920 until 1985.
The park also features various rides, bumper cars, carousels, roller coasters, shooting galleries and so on. Great place to go with the kids too. This reminded us of London Eye, where we talk more in our London article here.
Whether you are planning a city break or a longer stay Vienna is a perfect destination for either. Feel free to consider doing a joint trip Vienna – Bratislava as this is perfectly doable and you’ll kill two birds with one stone.
