The Power Station of Art is located on the north bank of the Huangpu River in Huangpu District, opposite the China Art Palace on the opposite bank of the Huangpu River. The Contemporary Art Museum mainly exhibits various contemporary art works, and there are often different thematic exhibitions. You can enjoy various abstract art works or new concept art exhibits here, which fully stimulate your aesthetic sense and imagination. The predecessor of the museum was the Nanshi Power Plant, which was built in 1897. Its 165-meter reinforced concrete chimney is straight and towering. You can see this factory-shaped building from a distance. The museum is spacious and bright, with rough steel structure beams, obvious traces of factory reconstruction, and a sense of history. The exhibition hall is mainly located on the first to fifth floors of the museum, there is also a cafe on the fifth floor, and the cloud restaurant on the seventh floor can provide meals. The exhibits of the museum are usually not fixed, and there are often different thematic exhibitions, such as the art design exhibition, the portrait exhibition of the era, the Swiss landscape design, the Cartier time art exhibition, etc., so you may visit again after a period of time. The exhibits you see will be completely different from the last time. The Power Station of Art is also the main venue of the Shanghai Biennale, which is held every two years and is one of the most influential art exhibitions in Asia.
