6 Places to Catch Cherry Blossom in Kyoto!
Cherry blossom viewing in Kyoto is an experience you can’t leave out when visiting Japan during the spring. Based on the latest forecast, it is expected to bloom from 24 March 2024 and peak at 1 April 2024.
Here’s my top 6 viewing spot for Sakura in Kyoto, based on my 2023 solo trip:
📍Arashiyama 嵐山: take a stroll along the river bank, hop into the Sagano romantic trains or take a boat while going down the river. This is one of the places to enjoy cherry blossoms differently.
📍Keage Incline 蹴上インクライン: abandoned railway track framed with cherry blossoms, before taking a break at Blue Bottle Coffee
📍Kiyamachi Dori 木屋町通: enjoy an evening walk under the cherry blossoms after dinner at the Pontocho Alley.
📍Philosopher's Walk 哲学の道: Approximately two kilometres long, this is my favourite spot. But as it gets quite busy so best to visit early!
📍Maruyama Park 円山公園: probably one of the most popular night spots as you can dine beneath the blossoms.
📍 Yawaragi Road 和らぎの道: A lesser-known spot, it is nearer to Kameoka JR Station
Where else will you recommend for Sakura viewing in Kyoto?

Pontocho, a quaint old Kyoto street parallel to the Kamogawa River
TobeJIN.
Pontocho, located between Sanjo and Shijo, is a north-south slate alley. It is one of the old flower streets in Kyoto, with hotels, tea houses and restaurants on the roadside. From time to time, geisha is seen. The alley has a strong Japanese style and the floor is very clean. Even if it is a diet, it will not stain the surrounding environment. The shop decoration in the alley is a big love, especially my pseudo-text. Picking a restaurant and drinking a small wine at night is very comfortable.
