A Day Exploring Florence on Foot in Italy 🇮🇹
Exploring Florence by foot was a journey through art, history, and culture. I started my day at the iconic Duomo, marveling at its intricate facade and climbing to the top for panoramic city views. From there, I wandered through cobblestone streets, discovering hidden piazzas and artisan shops. The Uffizi Gallery was a highlight, where I spent hours admiring masterpieces by Botticelli and Michelangelo. Crossing the Ponte Vecchio, I enjoyed the charm of its historic jewelry shops and stunning river views. Every step in Florence felt like a walk through history, with beautiful architecture and art at every turn.

The sunset to die for, that's Florence!
The sunset to die for, that's Florence!
During the journey around Europe, I have never seen a city's sunset as passionate and free as Florence.
People on the steps overlook the high dome of the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, the street performers' singing gathers strangers, people enjoy music and sunset, passion and revelry.
That night, the bright moon was in the sky in Florence, and people would spend their lives in romance.
Day trip to check in Old Bridge Pitti Palace Central Market Academy Art Gallery
Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore Lord's Square/Old Palace Uffizi Art Gallery Michelangelo Square
Excellent sunset viewing spot
Michelangelo Square, you can overlook the whole Florence, the sunset street performance is also here

Most romantic views in Florence
Behind me you see the Ponte Vecchio - a medieval stone arch bridge that spans the Arno River in Florence, Italy. How picturesque are the views? 💖✨
Some interesting facts about the Ponte Vecchio bridge in Florence:
1. Ponte Vecchio means "old bridge" in Italian.
2. The bridge dates back to 1345, and it was the only bridge across the Arno River to survive World War II.
3. The bridge is lined with charming shops that sell a variety of items. The stores date back to the 14th century when the shops were originally occupied by butchers and fishmongers, but today they are mostly jewellery shops.
4. The bridge also features the Vasari Corridor, which is an elevated passageway. It was built in the 16th century by the architect Giorgio Vasari, which connects the Uffizi Gallery to the Palazzo Pitti.
5. The Ponte Vecchio offers great views of the city, especially at sunset, which is when I went and was lucky to witness the most beautiful sunset. It is definitely a great spot for photography, the bridge's architecture and the River Arno's panoramic views make a great backdrop for pictures don’t you think?

Ponte Vecchio, (Italian: “Old Bridge”) the first segmental arch bridge built in the West, which crosses over the Arno River at Florence and is an outstanding engineering achievement of Europe's Middle Ages. Its builder, Taddeo Gaddi, completed the bridge in 1345.

How to Fully Enjoy Florence, the Jewel of Italy
Florence (Firenze) is a city located in central Italy and serves as the heart of the Tuscany (Toscana) region. Its strategic location between Rome and Milan makes it highly accessible from other major Italian cities. With Bologna to the north and Siena to the south, traveling to other cities by train or car is convenient. Florence is beautifully situated along the Arno River, offering picturesque riverside views, and its historic buildings are concentrated in the city center, making it an ideal city for walking tours.
Florence is renowned as the birthplace of Renaissance art and culture. It was home to world-famous artists and scholars such as Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and Dante. The city is filled with iconic landmarks like the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore (Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore), the Uffizi Gallery (Galleria degli Uffizi), and the Ponte Vecchio. The red dome of the Duomo is a symbol of the city, and climbing to the top offers a panoramic view of Florence. Additionally, the city is famous for its delicious cuisine, including the traditional Italian dish Bistecca alla Fiorentina, making it a favorite among food lovers.
One of the most memorable moments of my visit to Florence was climbing the dome of the Duomo and looking out over the city. The view of the red-tiled roofs was truly unforgettable. Another highlight was seeing Botticelli's 'The Birth of Venus' at the Uffizi Gallery, which felt like a journey through time. The city is small enough to explore on foot, allowing me to visit major attractions throughout the day, and the hidden cafes and shops in the alleyways added to its charm. However, due to the high number of tourists, I would recommend making reservations in advance during peak seasons. Florence is truly a city where art and history come alive.

A Journey to the Heart of the Renaissance: Florence
The fastest and most convenient way to travel from Rome to Florence is by taking the Frecciarossa, Italy's high-speed train. Departing from Roma Termini station, it takes about an hour and a half to reach Firenze Santa Maria Novella station. Multiple trains run daily, and prices can vary depending on the time of day, so booking in advance can save you money. While you can also travel by bus or car, the train is the fastest and least stressful option.
Florence is the center of Renaissance art and architecture, and the entire city feels like a massive museum. The most famous landmark is the Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral, known as the Duomo. Its red dome is visible from anywhere in the city, and climbing to the top offers a panoramic view of Florence. The Ponte Vecchio, located along the Arno River, retains its medieval charm and is lined with jewelry shops, making it a delightful place to explore.
Florence truly is a 'small but intense' city. Upon arriving by high-speed train from Rome, I was immediately struck by the city's quaint atmosphere and artistic vibe. The Duomo was even more magnificent in person than in photos, and while the climb to the dome is quite steep, it is well worth the effort. However, Florence is very touristy, so I recommend booking tickets for major attractions in advance or visiting early in the day.

Cradle of the Renaissance - Florence.
What comes to mind when you think of Florence? The Renaissance? The Medici family? The Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore? T-BONE steak and tripe sandwich? Or Xu Zhimo's 'Fei Leng Cui'? I would say: Jay Chou. Hahaha! Because one of my favorite songs, 'What Kind of Man,' was filmed in Florence. The Ponte Vecchio and the Arno River exude a romantic atmosphere in Jay Chou's music video.
Follow in Jay Chou's footsteps and start your journey in Florence! Although Jay Chou's MV didn't feature food, when it comes to Florence, no one would miss the famous tripe sandwich shop, Nerbone, located in the Central Market. Nerbone has a history of over a hundred years and is a must-visit for tourists from all over the world. The old shop is located in a corner, so remember to look for the green 1872 sign. The shop is very popular, and almost everyone who has been to Florence has tried their tripe sandwich. The tripe is stewed until it's very tender, and they give a generous portion. Every bite is satisfying; the bread is a bit hard but very fragrant, crispy, and pairs perfectly with the tripe. Here's a menu from ten years ago, showing how affordable and delicious it was!
After satisfying our stomachs, we strolled through the old town, climbed to the top of the dome of the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, and looked down on the land that nurtured Renaissance geniuses like Dante, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Galileo. We stayed until sunset before reluctantly leaving. From the Cathedral, we walked along Via dei Benci to the end, reaching the Arno River. Walking along the riverbank, we passed the Uffizi Gallery, looked across at the Pitti Palace, and before we knew it, we arrived at the Ponte Vecchio. By then, it was dark, and the air was slightly misty. Walking on the Ponte Vecchio, the atmosphere takes you back in time. It's not a long journey, but it easily spans centuries.

Florence is famous for its Renaissance architecture, with the Duomo, Palazzo Vecchio, and Ponte Vecchio all offering breathtaking views. The terracotta rooftops of Florence are an iconic part of the cityscape, best viewed from the Piazzale Michelangelo or the hills surrounding the city. The sunset hues bring out the natural colors of Florence’s historical buildings, making it a popular time for capturing cityscape photos. The balance of geometry and artistic detail makes Florence a captivating city for photographers interested in historical and artistic architecture.

Florence is simply magnificent. The Duomo is even more incredible in person – pictures just don't capture the scale of it! And walking across Ponte Vecchio with all those little shops... it's like stepping back in time. I loved it.
The Uffizi Gallery was a total highlight, I would definitely recommend it, and if you're into renaissance art you don't skip it. It has some absolute masterpieces, and could have easily spent the whole day there. (Top tip: book your tickets online to skip the queue!)

The Old Bridge of Florence | A Must-Visit Landmark on the Arno River
🌉 The Ponte Vecchio is a landmark of Florence, an ancient Roman wooden bridge that was destroyed around the 12th century and later rebuilt into the familiar enclosed stone bridge we see today. Those who have seen the movie 'Perfume' might recognize this scene; the fish market where Grenouille first lived was filmed against the backdrop of the Old Bridge 🎬
Florence is a world-renowned producer of leather goods, with many factories having their own retail stores. High-quality leather jackets that look good can be bought for half the price of brand stores, and along the streets, there are many shops selling leather bags and small accessories. It's easy to lose control, so please hold on to your wallet
When in Florence, just wander around aimlessly, eat, shop, and rediscover the long-lost sense of relaxation ❤️

📍Ponte Vecchio, Florence, Italy
One of the must see places in Italy would be the famous old bridge, Ponte Vecchio! It is a timeless icon of Italian history and culture, such a beautiful masterpiece to marvel at! Built over the Arno river, Ponte Vecchio is a medieval stone arch bridge. Being the only bridge in Florence spared from destruction during the World War II, stepping onto the bridge felt like time travelling to the past, as histories and traditions came to live admits the hustling bustling atmosphere of the bridge. The narrow walkway is not filled with stores selling art crafts and jewelleries. Such a charming place to visit in Florence, definitely worth a visit!

After passing through the church, after passing through the square, I walked to the banks of the Arno River. Stop here and enjoy this beautiful river and the beautiful bridges on the water. Old Bridge, the most famous and oldest bridge on the Arno River, witnessed the prosperity and decline of the entire city of Florence. It was built in the Middle Ages, and the baptism of the war and the invasion of the floods have always stood tall and become the only places where tourists come to Florence. Dante met here with the Beata Beatrix he loved for life. "She even nodded to me and conveyed her unspeakable money to me. This can be regarded as a kind of grace for me. I feel that I have gained a lot of grace... that is At nine o'clock on this day."
Walking along the river, turning back and watching the sun slowly fall, the afterglow of the setting sun seems to give Florence a golden coat, this poetic and artistic conception is like fresh and elegant. The picture can not be forgotten.
