Historic buildings
The Pine Garden is a well-known local art exhibition hall, as well as restaurants and gift shops. The most famous one in the annex is the Ryukyu pine. The Japanese planted more than 100 trees at that time, forming a very dense small forest. Later, due to typhoons and pests, only 30 old pine trees remained standing here. The 1st and 2nd floors of the annex are indoor art exhibition spaces, and there is a pavilion at the back for the public to rest and enjoy the shade.

The beautiful Matsuen Annex
The admission fee is 60 yuan for adults and 40 yuan for elementary and elementary school children. The museum area is not big, but it is very beautiful and easy to take pictures. Each ticket can be discounted for half the price of shopping in the park. For example, if the ticket is 60 yuan, you will get a 30 yuan discount on consumption. There is also a shelter in the annex. Children will find it very novel. What is on display now is the living plant. The dance of light and plants is very beautiful.

A Glimpse of Time: The Serenity of Songyuan Villa and the Diverse Charm of Taipei
This time, I planned a day trip to Yilan during my Taipei itinerary to visit a low-key yet charming historical site—Songyuan Villa. Early in the morning, I took a train from Taipei to Yilan. The short journey of just over an hour brought me to this picturesque small town, where the fresh air and relaxed pace made me unwind. Songyuan Villa is situated on a small hill, with pine trees lining the entrance. The gentle breeze carried the scent of pine. This building was once a military facility during the Japanese occupation and has been restored to become a cultural space that blends history, art, and nature. I strolled through the villa, admiring the special exhibition of handicrafts and historical photos, each piece recording the past of this land. I sat down at the villa's café, ordered a special hand-brewed coffee, and quietly overlooked the entire Yilan city, gazing at the distant mountains and fields. The atmosphere here is tranquil and leisurely, as if time has slowed down.
In the afternoon, I walked along the trails outside the villa. The sunlight filtered through the pine forest, casting dappled shadows that made me reach for my camera to capture the beauty of the moment. In the evening, I returned to Yilan city and visited the Jimmy Square, where the colorful public art installations made me feel like I was in a fairy tale. I also tasted Yilan's famous smoked duck and scallion pancakes, the authentic flavors bringing a perfect end to the day. At night, I took the train back to Taipei, ready to embrace the urban exploration the next day.

Matsuyama Villa: A Hidden Gem in the Pine Forest
Located in Hualien, Matsuyama Villa is a historic Japanese-style building nestled on a small hill surrounded by pine trees. As I stepped into this tranquil space, I immediately felt its serene and secluded atmosphere. Once a military command post during the Japanese occupation, it has now transformed into a cultural hub that captivates visitors.
🚩Elegant Japanese Architecture and Lush Pine Forest
Walking along the paths of Matsuyama Villa, you are greeted by distinctive Japanese architecture. The wooden structures and large floor-to-ceiling windows allow sunlight to pour in, casting soft and changing shadows inside. The surrounding pine forest is refreshing and pleasant, with a gentle breeze rustling the treetops, making you feel as if you are in a serene landscape painting. The architectural details here not only witness the passage of time but also provide a delightful visual experience for visitors.
👍Cultural Activities and Artistic Atmosphere
In addition to the natural scenery, Matsuyama Villa regularly hosts various exhibitions and cultural activities, ranging from contemporary art to traditional crafts. Each exhibition here incorporates local culture, allowing visitors to appreciate artworks while gaining a deeper understanding of Hualien's history and customs. As a gathering place for art enthusiasts, Matsuyama Villa is undoubtedly a must-visit spot on your journey.
📍The Tranquil Charm of Matsuyama Villa
After a day of exploration, I took a short break in a pavilion among the pine trees, feeling the healing power of nature. Whether you are a history buff or an art lover, the tranquility and beauty of Matsuyama Villa make it a worthwhile stop during your stay in Hualien, offering a recharge for your soul.

Hualien Songyuan Villa⛰️The scenery is so beautiful💜A great place to take beautiful photos online
This time I went to Hualien, and it was really beautiful with beautiful mountains and rivers🤩🥰🥰 (It’s definitely not boring!)
The scenery is very breathtaking and magnificent👏
Found a secret base, perfect for taking beautiful photos online
There are also such big bears🧸, super healing🥰🥰🥰☺️😘
Beautiful scenery makes you feel good
Hualien is so beautiful🧸Good mountains and good water⛰️
A good place for a relaxing outing
It was very touching and novel to see the peacock open its tail👍👍👍
Super photogenic rainbow cheesecake 🍰very delicious‼ ️‼ ️💕💕
As a result, I was bitten by a small black mosquito before I could finish the cake. Fortunately, I had medicine prepared. If you are bitten by a small black mosquito, you really can't scratch it with your hands. It will be more serious! Apply anti-itching lotion quickly.
There are many installation arts that are easy to photograph, and the Songyuan Annex is a suitable place to relax.
