A colossal standing Golden Buddha in Hatyai
#weekendgetaways
Phra Phutthamongkol Maharat is renowned for its colossal standing Golden Buddha. Nestled in the very top of the hill, facing of the Kho Hong Moutain Viewpoint, Kho Hong, Hatyai District, Songkhla, Thailand. You can see the entire city of Hatyai and as far as the Songkhla lake in the city of Songkhla.
It has cable car service from Hatyai Municipal Park to the top, but unfortunately closed for maintaining quite some time. We were riding a Scooter from Hatyai downtown to the temple, 8.5km away taken around 25 minutes, I was so exciting and really love its tranquil atmosphere, fresh air and the scenic views, absolutely a best getaway from the bustling city!
The temple is open daily from 6.30am - 7pm.

Incredible temple complex with beautiful architecture.
20 meters tall golden Buddha statue overlooking the city and the fantastic views across Hat Yai.
30 minute hike to the top is pretty intense, bring quality shoes and plenty of water. The view at the top is certainly worth it.
If you have elderly with you, it's always recommend for you to chartered a tuk tuk to bring you around the park. You also can take cable car here to the Brahma statue, it's costing 200 baht for return ticket for tourist. The cable car is just very short distance.
