Visit the Ghost Town in Phrae Province⛰️🌋
No goats at “Pae Muang Phi”
“Pae Muang Phi”, just hearing the name might confuse you about what it is. Why does it sound scary? Are there ghosts?
Today, Phira will take everyone to visit an important landmark of Phrae Province.
That is Pae Muang Phi National Park, Nam Cham Subdistrict, Mueang District, Phrae Province.
.
<3 The word “Pae” is a local language and means a thicket, which is the nature of the forest in this area.
<3 The word “Phi City” means the silence and loneliness of a ghost city because the area of Pae Muang Phi is a sandy soil area, so there are not many trees growing and there are no living things living there.
.
Before these soil pillars were formed, this area used to be a raised crust of the earth, which was in the Quaternary era, approximately no more than 2 million years ago. The ground here is made up of gravel, rocks, soil, and sand, arranged in alternating layers of sandstone. Each layer is held together differently. When it rains, the rainwater washes away the weak sandstone, leaving only a strong layer of rocks that are resistant to erosion on top, like a shield protecting the soil underneath. As time goes by, This has become a large pillar of soil for us to visit.
When the Pae Mueang Phi was created, there was a story that a grandmother went into the forest to find forest products to bring back to cook. She got lost and came to Pae Mueang Phi and found a pit of money and gold full of valuables. So she gathered up the money and gold and filled her basket to carry it home. However, she got lost in the forest because the guardian spirit of this area did not allow her to take it. She had to leave the money and gold behind in order to find her way home.
The grandmother did not give up, so she went back there again, cut wood to make a pole to carry the money and gold. However, she could not carry it out. Every time she took a step, she felt like someone was pulling her back. She had to leave her basket there and come out to invite the villagers to come and see. Many villagers came to see it, but they did not find the money. In addition, they found mysterious footprints leading to the pillar of soil. Therefore, it became a mysterious story that has been told to this day.
Currently, Pae Mueang Phi Forest Park in Phrae Province is open for free admission. There are also accommodations and restaurants ready to serve tourists. #Phrae is not a pass-through #VisitPhrae

Beautiful and unusual 🪨
Pae Mueang Phi National Park is about 10 km from Phrae city. It is open to visitors every day without an entrance fee. There is a large parking lot. It is a type of land that has collapsed from water erosion. Over millions of years, it has formed high and low hills, cliffs, and various shaped soil pillars.
There are no goats and ghosts here (I am not insulting you 🙏). But in the northern language, goats mean a type of forest, and Mueang Phi means a mysterious and strange land. It doesn't take long to walk around. There are many beautiful photo spots.

📍Visit the ghost town of Goat, where there are no goats or ghosts.
When in Phrae, you must visit Pae Mueang Phi, which is not related to ghosts but is a natural sculpture where the surrounding soil that has not yet solidified has sunk, causing the solidified parts to take on different shapes, such as pillars, mushrooms, bridges, etc. It is quite unusual. Pae Mueang Phi Forest Park is a tourist attraction near Phrae city, only 15 kilometers from the city center. It is a natural sculpture. There are tourist attractions inside the forest park. There is a nature study trail for about 3 kilometers. There is a viewpoint called Pha Pho Lae where you can see Pae Mueang Phi from above and see Chang Pha Dan in the distance. There is Doi Chang Pha Dan, the highest point in Phrae city. Walk a little further and you will reach the Pae Mueang Phi basin. There are many beautiful photo spots. I recommend coming in the morning. It is not hot. There is a large parking lot. There are clean and safe restrooms. There is no entrance fee.
