This time, I hesitated about whether to go again since we didn’t rent a car and had to rely entirely on public transportation and our feet. Just as I was in doubt, I stumbled upon an early morning ticket offer—round trip for only RM5. It was too good to pass up, so we decided to forgo our night out and wake up early. The bus ride from the city was just RM2.70, proving once again that Penang is a city made for travelers. Despite the weather forecast predicting cloudy skies and rain, it seemed like the heavens smiled upon us, as the sunrise turned out to be quite beautiful. The charm of Nanyang has always been something I yearned for, and Penang is the first stop on my journey to the South Seas. A 40-minute flight transfer from Kuala Lumpur took me to Penang, where I chose to stay near Shantou Street. Char Kway Teow, Jian Dui, Curry Mee, Hokkien Mee, Durian... truly a food paradise, there are so many delicious foods worth trying. 【First Stop】Street Art and Peranakan Museum The ancient Nanyang-style architecture paired with interesting and lively street art is just perfect for a city walk. Strolling leisurely here, every snapshot is filled with artistic flair. Of course, I couldn't miss the most famous murals. The Peranakan Museum, also known as the Penang Overseas Chinese Museum, is one of the most beautiful historic mansions in George Town, Penang, displaying the daily life of the prominent Zheng Jinggui family. 【Second Stop】Penang Hill The highest peak in Penang, offering a panoramic view of the entire city. The most famous attraction of Penang Hill is the funicular train, which allows you to enjoy the scenic beauty as if you were in a comic book. Unfortunately, it was under annual maintenance when I visited, and I regretfully missed it. In the end, I had to take a jeep up the hill, the winding mountain roads even had cute monkeys to see! Reaching the top, the view over Penang was breathtaking. 【Third Stop】Durian Farm Penang is very famous for its durians, and if you like durians, you must not miss this! This is the most recommended part of my entire trip! There are many durian farms on the back of Balik Pulau. Find a farm with beautiful scenery, where you can eat durians and enjoy the view at the same time, it's simply therapeutic! 【Fourth Stop】Batu Beach The beautiful sunset beach in Penang is perfect for relaxing in the evening. It's best to arrive at the beach at 5 pm to secure a good spot to watch the sunset. The funicular experience is amazing. It is the steepest railline in the world, and the view from top is truly breathtaking. There are lots of activities to do on the top of the hill as well. Anyone visiting Penang should consider adding Penang Hill to their checklist, especially if they wish to escape from the hot weather. Beside the refreshing cool breeze, for me the place offers an average experience. The funicular train at the lower station oh my god we queued for nearly two hours to board it, and when we finally did, the train was incredibly overcrowded. Getting an express lane could have been a great idea in such situation. The restaurant and cafe were all packed. So we opted for quick lunch at the food court, where we had to split up and take two separate tables for the 6 of us. We decided to skip the habitat walk because it was quite expensive. There are some historical buildings, mosque, hindu temple and monuments to visit. Ofcourse you cannot skip to take some photos of the Penang Town from top. Its very quite and peaceful. 24km long, the second longest bridge in SEA. Do be careful with the traffic. Rating - 7/10 3. Freedom Leisure Cycle Address - 155, Victoria Street, Georgetown, 10300, Pulau Pinang Highlights - Rm20 per hour. Rating - 7/10 4. Upside Down Museum Address - 45, Lebuh Kimberley, George Town, 10100 George Town, Pulau Pinang Highlights - Great place to have fun. Had a short wait for our turn to come. Once our turn comes, things went very smooth. There were 6 to 7 different scenarios were we need to pose and our photos will be taken. It is a place to have fun and enjoyment. Rating - 7/10 5. Step by Step Lane Address - 57, Chulia St, Georgetown, 10200 George Town, Penang Highlights - Next to it was an alley with some cafes and stalls inside. Walked past the Post Card Shop. Rating - 6/10 6. Ghost Museum Address - 57, Lebuh Melayu, George Town, 10100 George Town, Pulau Pinang Highlights - Love the fact that they provide costume for certain room. But need to improve on quality, some of it already torn badly. No jumpscare and varieties of ghosts, estimate around 1hour spent if you love taking pictures/come with large group. Recommended. Rm15 for students and rm28 for adults. Rating - 7/10 7. Muka Head Lighthouse Address - Penang National Park Highlights - 1-2 hours hike and it was a steep inclined moderate hike. Be careful as the wild monkeys might jump out and scare you. Come prepared with a proper shoes and attire. Or other way to get there is by 10min boat ride with one stop at CEMACS before we were dropped off at monkey beach next to the light house. Rating - 9/10. #mymymemories If you ever feel like you need to freshen yourself up after a long, tiring week at work, Penang Hill is a great place to be. You can be close to nature, and enjoy a scenic view of Penang as well. We went just in time for lunch, and we had the RM88 lunch set at David Brown's Hilltop Restaurant. The cooling air, topped with tea and delicious lunch was a very soothing experience for us. The highlight for us was sitting by the deck of the Sky Terrace! You can pay and take a drone shot of you and your friends there as well. We had a splendid time just sitting and reading our books, while drinking our coffee and enjoying the fresh air. I was there at 9:30am on Sunday and the place was already packed with people queuing for the ticket. we went ahead and got the Fast Lane tickets for foreigners. RM80 vs RM30. No regrets. zoomed past the long long queues and were able to get on the next available train. The Penang Hill is cooling and the ride up is fast. less than 5 mins and you are there. I visited another Attraction up there. The Habitat. Very serene and beautiful scenic walk around and truly enjoyed the high point : Curtis Crest Tree Top Walk.

We avoided Sunday and went Monday morning, after just 5 minutes I was on the train. ❤️Attraction I would however recommend is the beautiful natural park area and Canopy walk. Awesome campsite to spend a great outdoor weekend there. The camp site is called Hillside Retreat Penang, located at the top of Penang Hill. The view is stunning, especially the sunrise! You can bring your our tent if you can rent from them for a fee. If you rent from them they will prepare the tent and you can just come to enjoy the stay! The super clean toilet, really fascinated me. They also have a fully equipped kitchen is equipped that have everything you need to cook your meal. Friendly and helpful caretaker, really take good care of us too. Will definitely will go back this camp site again! #penang

I always visit the Penang Hill on every visit to this idyllic island of Penang. You have to buy a ticket to ride the funicular train up and down the hill. The climate at the top is cool and windy and the temp is about 23 deg C. There are lots of flora and fauna at the summit. There are also lookout towers for you to view the coastline from the top of the hill. There is a small cosy hotel and some nice coffee houses where you can sip your coffee while resting. There are monkeys galore along the way and there are also houses of worship like a mosque and a Hindu temple. . There is a police station and if you fancy buying a hat or a souvenir there are stalls selling such items. If you come here on a weekend the queue for the ticket can be very very long.
