[France🇫🇷Nice] How to spend the New Year holidays
I would like to share my experience of celebrating New Year's Eve in Nice.
If you are considering it, I hope this will be helpful☺️
▪️New Year's Eve🎆
In Nice, people basically gather by the seaside⛱️
The countdown is voluntary, and a group of young boys counted it, but there was nothing particularly grand.
The fireworks started going off about 10 minutes before the event, and it felt like everyone's excitement was rising🎆
It seems that fireworks were also being set off in the city, and it seems that it is common for individuals to purchase them and set them off themselves!
It wasn't as crowded as Times Square in New York, and the scale of celebrating the new year while having fun with local friends was very comfortable☺️
▪️First sunrise🌅
After returning home and taking a rest, I watched the sunrise from the place where the I LOVE NICE object was located.
In other countries, the timing of the New Year's Eve is important, and there seems to be no culture of watching the first sunrise, so there were hardly any people there.
We were blessed with good weather and were able to see a wonderful first sunrise!
▪️New Year's Concert🎵
In Nice in 2024, a free orchestra concert was held at the Nice Opera House🎺
After watching the sunrise, we headed to the Opera House around 8:30, and even though the performance started at 11:00, there was already a crowd😳
It seems to be an annual event, and everyone seems to be lining up early to secure a good seat.
*Since it is free, reservations are not made, and you can sit in your favorite seat on a first-come, first-served basis. Numbered tickets are distributed around 9:45.
We also started lining up at this time since we had the chance. As a result, we were very satisfied because we were able to watch it from a very good seat in the box seat☺️
▪️Restaurant opening status
Even though it was 1/1, almost all the restaurants in Nice were open! Although most of the stores where you can buy groceries such as supermarkets and department stores are closed, I had no trouble finding a place to eat 🍝
▪️Walking around town
You can enjoy Nice just by walking around the city, such as the old town and the seaside 🚶 You can enjoy yourself in areas that are within walking distance, but buses and trams are running even during the New Year holidays, so you can easily get around 🚌
It's been active overseas since 1/1, and many people seem to be going out and living their normal lives.
As expected, tourist facilities are closed, so we mainly walked on this day, but many facilities will open on 1/2, so even though it's the off-season, you can still enjoy it!
I hope this will be helpful to you 🙋♀️
