The official name of the One Pillar Temple is Yanyou Temple, also known as Lotus Terrace, which is located in the southwest of Ba Dinh Square. The temple is small but famous and its uniqueness is that it stands on a pillar in the center of the lotus pond, which means that a pure lotus blossoms from the sea of suffering. The shape of the One-Pillar Temple is very beautiful. The 4-meter-high stone pillar symbolizes the flower stalk. The temple body and the slightly upturned eaves on the four sides form the petals. Under the front eaves, there is a plaque of "Lotus Terrace". It is said that the One Pillar Pagoda is very effective, and local people come here to burn incense and make a wish. You can go up to the entrance of the temple through a staircase, but you cannot enter it. You may as well go to the village to burn incense and worship Buddha. However, due to limited space, tourists often have to queue to get up. Due to several repairs, the scale of the existing temple is smaller than the original one, but the shape and style are still preserved. According to the legend of the One Pillar Temple, Li Taizu once dreamed that the Guanyin Bodhisattva sitting on a lotus leaf handed him a baby boy. Soon Li Taizu married a young peasant girl. She later gave birth to a boy for Li Taizu, who was exactly the same as the baby boy in his dream. So Li Taizu ordered the construction of the One-Pillar Temple to thank him, so the One-Pillar Temple looks like a lotus flower.
