Dessert Dreams Come True at This Cosy Redhill Café
#springitinerary There’s something magical about finding a quiet little café tucked under an HDB block — and Desert Dessert at Lengkok Bahru is exactly that kind of hidden gem. Located just a short walk from Redhill MRT, this cosy Korean-inspired dessert café serves up beautiful handmade cakes, gelato, croffles, and lattes in a warm, minimalist space that feels like your new favourite hangout spot.
We popped by on a quiet weekday afternoon, drawn in by their latest cake creation — and left with happy hearts (and full bellies).
What we tried:
Mango taro floss cake
This new addition absolutely stole the show. Soft sponge cake layered with sweet mango and creamy taro, then topped with savoury meat floss — it sounds unusual, but the combination totally works. You get the sweetness from the fruit and taro, a hint of umami from the floss, and just the right amount of cream to tie it all together. It’s creative, indulgent, and definitely one of our new favourites.
Strawberry shortcake
A classic done well. Light, fluffy sponge with fresh strawberries and whipped cream that wasn’t too heavy or sweet. It’s the kind of cake that feels like a gentle hug — simple, fresh, and perfect with a warm drink.
Matcha latte
Smooth, mellow, and not too bitter — a great companion to the cakes. The earthy matcha pairs especially well with the fruity elements in the strawberry shortcake.
The café also offers a variety of other treats like croffles (their sea salt dark chocolate one is a popular pick), thick waffles, and a rotating selection of gelato with fun flavours like biscoff lotus, grape yakult, and honeycomb. You can have your gelato by the scoop or take home a pint.
Inside, the vibe is clean, calm, and cosy — think light wood furniture, soft lighting, and quiet corners perfect for slow afternoons. It’s a lovely spot whether you’re out on a dessert date, catching up with friends, or just want some me-time with cake and coffee.
Desert Dessert might be a little out of the way, but it’s worth the detour. With its thoughtful cake creations, peaceful ambiance, and warm service, it’s the kind of café that makes you want to stay a little longer and come back often.
