Let me tell you exactly how to enjoy Kunming
About transportation:
Kunming has an airport, so we can take a flight directly to Changshui Airport from where we come from. Kunming also has two train stations, Kunming South Station and Kunming Station. It's best to check the train schedules from our city before we leave to see which station we will arrive at. The transportation within Kunming city is also quite convenient. We can choose to take the subway or take a taxi or ride a shared bike. For attractions that are a bit further away, we can take the subway, or it's also very convenient to just scan and ride a shared bike.
About accommodation:
I suggest you can stay near Tangzixiang, Wuyi Road subway station, or Huan Cheng South Road subway station. First of all, Tangzixiang has direct access to the airport, and it is also close to Kunming Old Street and Nanping Street, where we can easily taste various delicacies. Wuyi Road subway station is the intersection of subway lines 3 and 5. There are many food streets nearby, such as Nanping Street, Jingguo Street, etc. Moreover, we can take line 3 or line 5 to the vicinity of Dianchi Lake, which is very convenient for travel and eating.
How to play:
Day 1: We can go to Dianchi Lake for fun. Dianchi Lake is the largest lake in Yunnan Province, and there are many attractions around the lake. We can choose 2 to 3 attractions to visit, so it will be more relaxing. We can also go to Haigeng Wetland Park by Dianchi Lake, which is the most concentrated place for tourists and the best scene to watch seagulls. During the seagull season, we must go there to check in. Then go to the Western Hills Scenic Area, where you can have a panoramic view of Dianchi Lake from the mountain, and the scenery is particularly beautiful.
The Ethnic Village next to Dianchi Lake is also a worthwhile attraction to visit. In the afternoon, you can go to the Dounan Flower Market, which is the largest fresh cut flower trading market in Asia. Seven out of every ten flowers in the country come from Dounan. Here, buying flowers is as simple as buying vegetables. We can absolutely enjoy the freedom of fresh flowers.
Day 2: First go to Kunming Old Street for breakfast, then stroll through the old street and go to the nearby Cuihu Park. As the saying goes, 'A pool of Cuihu water, half a step to the Spring City begins.' Kunming Cuihu Park has different scenery in each of the four seasons. In winter, there are seagulls from Siberia, in spring, there are tulips blooming everywhere, and in summer, there are lotus flowers in the pond. No matter what season we come, we will definitely not be disappointed. We can also visit the former site of Southwest Associated University, Yunnan Provincial Museum, and Jiangwutang. These three places require us to make reservations online in advance. If time is not enough, we can also choose one or two places to visit. In this way, spending two days, we can basically check out all the popular attractions in Kunming.
Food:
As the capital city of Yunnan, Kunming allows us to taste almost all the delicacies of Yunnan, such as Crossing-the-Bridge Noodles, Stone Pot Fish, Tofu Noodles, Rushan Baiwei, etc. We can go to Nanqiang Street, Shuangqiao Night Market, Wenhua Alley, these snack worlds, where there are many special snacks. To be honest, compared to natural landscapes, Kunming definitely can't compare with Dali and Lijiang. However, as the capital city, Kunming's cultural heritage is worth everyone coming to experience! Through the tour of Kunming, we can particularly well feel the entire culture and history of Yunnan.

Kunming Old Street | Citywalk treasure trove, come quickly!
| Citywalk treasure trove, come quickly!
Arriving in Kunming, I didn't make any complicated plans and went straight to Kunming Old Street. In November, the weather in Kunming is like a warm embrace, with the sun shining and a warm feeling. 🚕 I took a taxi from the airport and started this casual trip.
Walking into the old street is like stepping into a time tunnel. The old stone road and mottled walls are all whispering stories of the past. And Duiyue Tower is undoubtedly the most dazzling pearl among them. It is like an elegant old man, quietly guarding both sides of Shengli Hall. With its symmetrical structure and retro color scheme, you can stand anywhere and take a picture, and it will look like a magazine cover. The photo rate is super high! 📸
When you are tired of shopping, food will comfort you. Go to "Qu Qingshan" and order a cup of original rice cloth. The aroma of rice and milk is intertwined, which is the unique milk tea style of Yunnan. The Yunnan black tea latte at "Shangshan Hecha" is also not to be missed. The aroma of tea and coffee blend together, and every sip is a silky enjoyment, which can be called the leader of new Chinese milk tea.
There is also Deshengqiao Tofu Rice Noodles, which is cheap, large, and delicious. The delicacy of tofu and the strength of rice noodles dance on the tip of the tongue. The mashed fruit and mashed chicken feet are also a must. The sour and spicy taste jumps on the taste buds, and the freshness of the freshly mashed food hits the soul, making you more and more appetizing!
🕙 Opening hours: Open all day, waiting for you to explore at any time.
🚌 Transportation: From Kunming Changshui International Airport, take a taxi directly; or take the subway and transfer to the bus to enjoy the city scenery of Kunming.
🍜 Nearby restaurants: In addition to the above recommendations, don't miss the roasted milk fan and fried potatoes on the street, which are full of Kunming flavor.
🏨 Hotel recommendation: All Seasons Hotel, simple and comfortable style, thoughtful service; Atour Hotel Kunming Old Street Zhengyi Square, which integrates local culture into details, will accompany you to deeply experience the charm of Kunming.

I only recommend this rice noodle restaurant in Kunming.
Yunnan people really love rice noodles! This restaurant is always full, no matter what time you come!!! 👏 I love it.
🥘 Double small pot rice noodles: There is a large piece of meat pie, which is so delicious! It is cooked with bone broth, which is rich and has a sauce flavor. The rice noodles are chewy and smooth, and they are so delicious~💕 There are also tomato small pot rice noodles, the soup is rich in tomato flavor, sweet and sour, who can not love it? It is simply the best!
🍧 Lychee pineapple bowl: When the weather is hot, eating rice noodles and having a bowl of this is simply amazing. It is cold, and the pineapple and lychee are sweet, which is very appetizing. 😜
🍖 Fried crispy meat: Crispy, soaked in small pot rice noodles is also amazing, delicious. Fried potatoes are also a must-order, Yunnan people can't live without it, covered with sauce, fragrant, really amazing! 🤤

Kunming-Lijiang Trip 5 Days 4 Nights in October 2024
China Trip: Kunming-Lijiang (Self-Guided)
✨Fly from Suvarnabhumi to Kunming, taking just over 2 hours both ways. Booked hotels and high-speed trains through Trip.com, very convenient.
💫Day 1: Fly to Kunming, then take a high-speed train to Lijiang. Stay in the ancient city of Lijiang.
💫Day 2: Travel to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain (book a one-day tour). A car picks you up in front of the ancient city and takes you to the cable car entrance. Since the cable car to the snow mountain was closed, we only reached the viewpoint. Then, we went to Silver Moon Valley, watched an afternoon show, and returned to the ancient city in the evening.
💫Day 3: Take a taxi to the flower garden, which is vast with many types of flowers, good weather, and many photo spots. In the afternoon, take a high-speed train back to Kunming.
💫Day 4: Walk around Kunming city, very convenient. Fashionable clothes at reasonable prices. Then, walk around Kunming Old Street, which has an ancient vibe, lots of food, beautiful cafes, and many tribal costume photo studios. Walking and eating was a lot of fun.
💫Day 5: Take a car to the airport and fly back to Thailand (very crowded, recommend allowing 3 hours).
✨It was a fun trip with beautiful places, clear water, cool weather, perfect for nature lovers and photography enthusiasts.

Walking in Kunming
Kunming is ideal for walking, and around every corner you’ll find a new surprise. This walk took us through Kunming pedestrian street and down to Kunming Old Street. So many hidden gems! Shopping and sink g go hand in hand here, with Yunnan food and drink culture on full display. What caught our eye on this walk was a magnificently cozy upscale cocktail bar, hidden behind the beautiful old facade of a small coffee bar on a street corner in Kunming Old Street. #historicallandmarks #localguides

Step Back in Time: Exploring the Charm of Kunming Old Street
Kunming Old Street, a historic area of ten streets including Qianwang, Tongren, Nanqiang, Guanghua, and Jingxing, showcases nearly 90-year-old architecture influenced by the Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China eras. Guanghua Street, a 435-meter stretch from Zhengyi Road to Wuyi Road, is famous for its traditional thin rice noodles and century-old pharmacies, while Nanqiang Street features preserved buildings like Renhexiang House, a classic two-story brick-and-wood courtyard built in 1904.
Other highlights include Qianwang Street’s rare watchtower structure and artisan shops with handmade goods, as well as Zhengyi Road’s preserved Qing Dynasty stone street lamp and variety of Japanese, Sichuan, and Korean cuisines. Jingxing Street delights visitors with colorful flowers and handicrafts, while the nearby Yunnan Tea Culture Museum on Wuyi Road offers a deeper look into regional tea heritage. Together, these streets embody Kunming’s rich cultural history and culinary traditions.
