🚩First visit to Okazaki Castle: Ancient charm
When I saw the majestic keep of Okazaki Castle from afar, my excitement was instantly ignited. As I slowly approached along the ancient streets, the stone paths beneath my feet seemed to still bear the footprints of ancient people, and every step felt like a journey through history. The streets were lined with ancient buildings, with wooden lattice windows and white walls, as if pulling me back to a time of samurai and changing fortunes.
🌆Architecture of Okazaki Castle: A frozen chapter of history
As I stepped through the gates of Okazaki Castle, the first thing that caught my eye was the magnificent keep. It stood on a high platform, like an old man who had weathered the storms of time, quietly overlooking the changes of the city. The exterior of the keep was solemn and dignified, with black tiles and white walls contrasting each other, exuding an ancient and solemn aura under the sunlight. Walking inside the keep felt like entering a history museum. The walls were adorned with ancient paintings depicting scenes of war and everyday life, vivid and lifelike, making one feel as if they were there. Display cases held swords and armor used by samurai, with their mottled marks seemingly telling stories of past battles, evoking a sense of the relentless passage of time and the weight of history.
🌳Gardens within the castle: The ultimate expression of Japanese aesthetics
The gardens of Okazaki Castle are also a masterpiece, perfectly embodying the delicacy and elegance of Japanese aesthetics. Stepping into the gardens felt like entering a tranquil paradise. In the small ponds, goldfish played among the lotus leaves, creating ripples on the water's surface. The ponds were surrounded by various rock formations, some resembling playful beasts, others like graceful fairies, each one seemingly a work of art crafted by nature. Walking along the winding paths, surrounded by lush trees, cherry blossoms, maples, and pines intertwined, presenting different scenes in different seasons. In spring, cherry blossoms fell like snow, as if covering the ground with a pink carpet; in autumn, maple leaves burned like fire, decorating the entire garden like a painting. The gardens also featured some ancient pavilions, where one could sit and quietly admire the beauty of the garden, feeling the gentle breeze on their face, a feeling of contentment beyond words.
🎎Events at Okazaki Castle: A feast of ancient and modern
If you're lucky, you might catch one of the traditional events held at Okazaki Castle. I remember when I visited, there was a samurai parade. A group of actors dressed in traditional samurai costumes, holding swords, marched in unison through the castle. Their determined eyes and imposing postures made one feel as if they were witnessing the samurai of old. The parade also included women in gorgeous kimonos, walking gracefully with paper umbrellas in hand, like fairies from a painting. These events not only provided a visual feast for visitors but also offered a deep understanding of traditional Japanese culture, showcasing the perfect blend of history and modernity.
