An oasis in Seoul
Seoul is a city of fast paced energy. Nodeul island is a lovely park with amazing views of the Hangang. For a minute you may forgot you're in the heart of one of the most populated cities in the world.
Here you can have a Korean style picnic; there are tables as well as a convenience store to buy all your necessities. It's a great place to relax and to enjoy the outdoor green space while having a great view of the Seoul skyline. It's also a great place to do some exercise and you can walk the entirety of the island. It's one of my personal favorite places in Seoul!

One of the Best Sunset Spot in Seoul
Want to enjoy sunset view at Han River but not sure where to go? Come to Nodeul Island!! You will love it.
If you have watched K-drama “Start Up”, you will be familiar with this location as it was the filming location for that drama. Be sure to visit this place if you’re a fan of the drama.
TIPS:
Remember to check sunset time when you plan your visit, and come here about 30 mins earlier to secure a nice spot. Bring a picnic mat, prepare some food and drinks, and just enjoy the view while taking a rest. Make sure your phone battery is full as you will be taking a lot of photos and videos.
GETTING HERE:
Take Seoul Subway Line 9, get off at Nodeul Station Exit 2.
(Note: I came here twice during my previous Seoul trip because I really love the view here and therefore would like to recommend this to everyone visiting Seoul!)

Golden Sky 🌅
Come with me to Nodeul Island, one of underrated park. There's so many parks along Han River and each of them is beautiful. But, this one is extra beautiful with the big train bridge across the river (which only few parks have it).
Its actually a modern and artificial island with some shops and restaurants around the small island located in the middle of busy city.
I recommend you to come here during sunset, that will give you a very beautiful view that you can't get anywhere else.

A relaxed riverside picnic in Seoul
Want to really experience life like the Seoul locals do? Then spend a lazy evening with a picnic on Nodeul Island!
Like many places in Seoul, this island was absolutely packed once I arrived. But unlike most of the tourist hotspots I’d visited, Nodeul was mainly filled with local young people who were meeting friends and enjoying the last few days of summer sun. In fact, my Korean friend who brought me here said the island had only recently become a popular spot, and it was her first time visiting too. So you’ve got a chance to see these beautiful views early!
From this tiny island you can gaze out at the surrounding Han river, the distant Seoul cityscape, and watch the sky’s colours change with the setting sun. If you stay until dark, you can even see Seoul’s dazzling night lights reflected in the water.
The ideal thing to do on the island is enjoy a riverside picnic. You can easily bring your own snacks, but I recommend bringing out your real inner local and ordering delivery food! You’ll see plenty of delivery drivers arriving at the island’s bus stop.
There’s even an option to rent out picnic sets. You’ll spot many people using hired fold-out tables, mats, and cute, colourful lights.
Getting to the island is super easy too, with several bus and subway lines passing straight through it. And if you’re more of a driver, there’s a few parking lots right next door too!
I’d recommend visiting in spring or autumn, so it’s not too hot and not too cold. My trip was in early October, and the temperature was perfect for a relaxed evening outdoors. So if these seasons fit your travel plans, make sure to give Nodeul island a visit and take a break from Seoul’s lively city life!

Strolling leisurely at Nodeul Island
You can take a bus to Nodeul Island, and there's a bus stop right in front of the island. During pleasant weather, like in autumn or spring, many people come here for picnics, walks, and exercise. Nowadays, more people are getting to know about this place. Besides the garden area where you can see the river and have picnics, there are also cafes, restaurants, a library, and free spaces to relax and unwind.

2024 10.05 Seoul World Fireworks Festival Nodeul Island.
⏰ 19:20~20:45
📍 Nodeul Island
Nodeul Island has a limit of 4500 people, so you can enjoy the event comfortably. I visited around 12 PM and got the 3800th ticket.
The view from the second floor is definitely better, and although the mat seats were fully occupied, I managed to find a good spot. I watched the fireworks comfortably sitting on a mat.

Nodeul Island Park in the middle of the Han River.
Nodeul Island Park is a public park in the middle of the Han River that was once an abandoned artificial island. The island has been transformed into a two-level public space that preserves the beauty of nature. The original ground level of the island has been converted into various relaxation spaces that invite people to visit and immerse themselves in nature and culture through a variety of creative activities.
At the same time, the upper platform, which is in line with the bridge connecting the island, has been transformed into a public plaza and a viewpoint for watching the sunset, as well as a hub for offices, shops, galleries, bookstores, a multi-purpose hall, and an exhibition room that can accommodate more than 450 people.
Moreover, this once-forgotten island has now become a public park and the filming location for the popular series Start-Up. Everyone wants to follow in the footsteps and it has become a place of relaxation that everyone should try walking across the bridge to Nodeul Island Park. The atmosphere is as good as having a picnic by the Han River.
