Nishiki Market is a must-visit market in Kyoto. Visitors can buy all sorts of different Japanese food and snacks. We first went late in the evening and were disappointed that most shops were already closed by 7pm, so we went back on our last day in Kyoto around noon, and the street was packed with people. We tried some tempura, pickled cucumbers, and bought some Japanese honey and herbal teas. Nishiki market is a very bustling street with many shops and restaurants. You can find all kinds of shops here, from shop selling knife to shop selling kimono, souvenirs and chopsticks. The street is also lined with many restaurants so you won’t go hungry here. It is Kyoto’s largest traditional food market and the location is quite convenient as it is in the hearth of the city's down town. The recommended sightseeing time is between one to two hours. 4 day trip to Japan, exploring Kyoto and Osaka, was great. Each day was filled with interesting places, beautiful sights, and delicious food, making the trip unforgettable. Day 1: Arrival and the Beauty of Kyoto When I arrived in Kyoto, I immediately felt the calm and historical atmosphere of the city. My first stop was the famous Fushimi Inari Shrine, known for its thousands of red torii gates. Walking through these gates was incredible. Next, I visited Kiyomizu-dera Temple, where the views of the city were stunning. The evening ended with a stroll through the Gion district, with its traditional wooden houses and possible glimpses of geishas. Day 2: Exploring Kyoto's Cultural Heritage The 2nd day was dedicated to exploring Kyoto's cultural treasures. I went to Ryoan-ji Temple, famous for its rock garden. The simplicity and peace of the garden were very moving. In the afternoon, I wandered through the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove, which felt like stepping into another world. The day ended at Nishiki Market, where I enjoyed various local street foods. Day 3: Transition to Osaka's Urban Energy Leaving the calm of Kyoto, I headed to Osaka, a city full of energy and modernity. #thingstodo Well, this is a touristy market for sure but it is worth visiting for the vibe and the food. Some of the foods are truly legit. My all-time favorite is the tofu shop where they made tofu donut and tofu soft serve. Such a light yet pleasant sensation from both sweets. The food stalls selling seafood look amazing too. Very cool spot for traditional Japanese food shopping.

I found a truck where there wasn't a queue, and that was suspicious, I thought at first it wasn't that good, but I got the best wagyu skewer! Prices can be high somewhere since it's a popular tourist attraction, but you can leave with a full stomach if you take a couple of things, spending a fair amount of money. You can say that you can buy everything in one visit. At the end of the market, there is also a shrine where you can go to pray for blessings. The food is quite fresh and the market is very clean. If you go in the morning, there are not many tourists, so you can walk comfortably. The food prices are not expensive. I personally think that the prices are about the same as the Kuromon Fish Market in Osaka.
