After the first trip with my parents and child, we aimed for a laid-back vacation.
The Min Rongcheng Ni's Haitai Resort Hotel boasts a prime location, embracing the sea with only 15 meters to the coastline, a natural oxygen bar with 60-year-old trees, and a vast black pine forest!
There is no direct high-speed train from Hangzhou to Rongcheng, so we chose to transfer in Zibo and took the opportunity to start the trip with my parents. It is quite convenient to get to Rongcheng within Shandong Province, with the high-speed train from Zibo to Rongcheng taking about 2-3 hours. Upon arrival in Rongcheng, taxis are the main mode of transportation.
Ni's Haitai Resort Hotel: The hotel has its own beach. When doing research, many people said that Ni's was a bit old, but compared to the Tianyu in Sanya, it really offers great value for money, with large sea-view rooms with big balconies, and the rooms are spacious enough.
The hotel is divided into a south area and a north area, which mainly depends on personal needs. The sea-view rooms in the south area generally have bathtubs and scenic balconies and are said to be slightly newer. The sea-view rooms in the north area do not have bathtubs but offer a view of the hotel's church. We changed rooms for two nights, staying in the south and north areas for one night each. The hotel has a small indoor playground that is free to play, and overall, we preferred the rooms in the south area.
Sightseeing: Basically, we just relaxed at the hotel. It takes about an hour by taxi from the hotel to the zoo and Jiming Island, and my child wasn't very interested.
Rongcheng Youth Palace: The architecture is quite unique. The science museum inside was not open, so we just admired the building and climbed to the top of the sky garden for a panoramic view of the beach. Next to it is Sakura Lake, where you can ride a small train or bicycles, which is very pleasant.
The dry pot sea anemone was a bit hard to get used to, with a strong taste of the sea. Other than that, you can choose according to your own preferences.

If you want to drive nearby to find a sea for kids to play, and swimming and sand digging by the seaside is enough, then Rongcheng is the choice. The 3-day experience was very good, without too many people crowding like dumplings, and the cost of living is not high, making it very suitable for taking kids out. Before going, I also looked at a lot of guides, but some were misleading, such as that Xianghai! Based on my own experience, I'll share the recommended places to go within three days, mainly suitable for children, like Qixiakou Zoo, Chengshantou I've been to before, so I didn't arrange it this time, all the places I went to were free.
Let's talk about the must-visit places:
1. Ailian Bay: In my mind, it's NO.1. I saw other people's guides saying it's not suitable for swimming in the sea, so I scheduled it for the third day. But when I went there, there were few people, the sand was fine, the waves were small, not many rocks, but there were small crabs, and various colored shells. This personal experience, you must go on the first day.
2. Ni's Haitai Hotel Beach: The sand is fine, suitable for watching the sunset in the evening, and also good for taking kids out. Choose between this and Ailian Bay.
3. Seaview Pavilion: Near Lily Bay, there are many grass houses, very beautiful, and not as crowded as Xiao Wu Team, you can take pictures casually. There's a private sea area for the owners, as well as a public beach, lots of tents here, sun protection, and you can swim, but there are quite a lot of people.
4. Xiekou Island Lighthouse: Next to Seaview Pavilion, the sand here is average, mainly for sea foraging, there are sand crabs, you can find holes in the sand and dig deep to find small crabs.
5. Huaxing Bridge Rainbow Road: Unbelievably beautiful, a seaside road, drive through here, record a slow-motion video, super healing.
6. Sea foraging under Huaxing: Lots of clams, even caught a fist-sized swimming crab, the ground is full of pebbles, just many sea roaches.
7. Xiaoyao Bay: This is next to Xianghai, but there are fewer people than Xianghai, and the sand is also fine. Suitable for night visits.
