Yushan Temple is located on the small Yushan Island by the side of Hoan Kiem Lake. According to records, the Zheng Dynasty of Vietnam once built Ruiqing Palace and Zuowang Pavilion on Yushan Island, which were later destroyed by war. Later, a Taoist temple was built on Yushan Island, which was rebuilt in 1872 and further expanded in scale. The Qixu Bridge is an arch bridge with a wooden structure running east-west. After crossing the bridge, there is Zhenbo Pavilion in front of Yushan Temple, which means "pillar of Wenlan", in order to control the waves. There is a wall on the way to enter the temple, which means "forget the world". There is a pen tower on a small soil slope, and a large inkstone platform is built relatively not far away. One day every year, when the sun rises, the tip of the pen tower shadows into the inkstone platform. There are many inscriptions and couplets in Yushan Temple. The entire monastery has a delicate structure and is small and exquisite, which complements the scenery of Hoan Kiem Lake, just like the scenery of Penglai. Yushan Island was the Diaoyutai of Emperor Li Dynasty in the 15th century. In the 18th century, the Guandi Temple was built on the island, and later expanded into Yushan Temple. Now it is still dedicated to Guandi and national heroes. There is also a tortoise specimen salvaged from Hoan Kiem Lake in mid-1968, weighing 250 kilograms, making the legend of the turtle in the lake even more mysterious.
